Municipal Credit Union

I’m over this institution. I’m used to Navy Federal and thought that I would get the same level of sense and customer service. Forget it. After hours help — non existent. Account security– I’m convinced that a pack of five year olds are in charge. Example: fraud on my account that they called me about… And they could see that I was in a different location, BUT they determined I was at Fault because the card was still in my possession. They cancelled my card because of a system security breach and didn’t tell me. Then there’s a delay in card activations being effective for like two hours… I’ve been to several branches throughout the city and rarely EVER have a nice interaction… the ATMs seem to be riddled with issues — at least in the co op city location. Ugh. It’s a joke. I’m taking my money elsewhere.

I cannot imagine how they could make this customer service experience worse. It takes forever to get through to someone on the phone, even longer to wait on line at the branch… and for what?! The rates are terrible compared to the market. My wife is trying to close her account and even that process has been a mission. Do yourself a favor and stay away!

MCU itself is great. Service. Interest. Other rates. All great. They really cater to City workers. BUT the amount of people in this particular MCU is ridiculous. The wait time is horrendous. The staff is nice, but the people make it hard to bare. We are all waiting to meet with a rep. We all see the amount of people there. We should ALL have a bit more patience. Again, MCU is a good bank. If you can become a member and reap of their benefits, by all means. But please please please be fair warned to WAIT. Thank you MCU for your services.

I love my MCU great rates for members interested in personal loans, mortgages and other investments accounts. ATMs offer check and cash deposit and drive thur style ATMS. Coin machine available and lots of other banking needs. Only concern is the wait times for some reason I guess it’s the banking format the wait time can get crazy.

Love, love MCU because of their great loan rates, but the wait is just ridiculous. Thought we were moving forward in how we bank, guess MCU missed the memo. Customer Srvcs is excellence, guess they have to make up for the long long wait. Oh! The replacement card machine always seems to be out of order, so save yourself the hassle & order it online & wait for the 7 – 10 business days.

MCU has always allowed those with not so good credit become homeowners, car owners and help build people’s credit with Secured Loans and Credit cards (Something «big» banks frown upon). You have to come early or be prepared to wait quite a long time. They are open on Saturdays but be prepared for it to be packed with those that work on the weekdays. Place is very clean and lit well and the seating is comfortable however no bathrooms for customers.

If this place could get a negative 5 stars, I would give it to them and I think I’m a generous reviewer. I came in one Saturday to do something very simple such as replacing my bank card.
I told them what I came for and I was provided a number like they give at the DMV. With such a seemingly efficient system one would think service would move faster. Well unfortunately this would not be the case at this location because I waited 1 ½ hour for a replacement card, REALLY!!!
I was so irritated and the bouncing back and forth from one line to the next to tell them the same thing was ridiculous. The service was poor and the staff person stated that was a «normal» day. If this is the case, they really need to reconsider their business practices.
All I need to say is, coming back to this bank will not be happening! It better be the last of the VERY last resort and still I’ll have to weight out my options.

Terrible Customer service! After getting approved for a personal loan, I caught them trying to sneak in life insurance and disability insurance!!! The insurances combined were $ 12 a month over the 60 months life of the loan they pocket $ 720 beside the interest!!! And this credit union is here «for» city employees?
Go find a REAL BANK! Do yourself a favor!

. I used to live in Co-​op City and the branch out there is HORRIFIC! It is like a mini DMV. You take a ticket and wait, aimlessly, while countless numbers are speeding by on a ticker tape. It’s crazy how busy they are everyday. The Yonkers branch is a nice change of pace, even on pay day. They keep the evening hours on Thursday and I never spend more than a few minutes in there, taking care of my finances. The tellers are friendly and they remember you. The one thing I miss is their Saturday hours. They used to stay open until 1pm on Saturdays but have stopped.
