This place is closed For good. It went out if business. Its not a shock to me because they were overpriced and their bakery items were always old. Coffee always cold.

Place nearly closed. Was shut down by the Marshals for a few days for non-payment of rent. Couldn’t say I was surprised. They expanded when they probably didn’t need to, as convenient as the bigger space may be. My main problem is in the indifference of some of the staff. I once ordered an iced coffee and the lady looked at me like she had never heard of it before despite it being on their menu. And yeah it was basically just hot coffee with ice in it. I could have made that at home. With that being said, I’m glad they’re back(for now). Not because I like them, but because I prefer to go to Dunkin’ Donuts where the staff is nicer or Bagels on Bartow which has surprisingly excellent breakfast food. And if Palombo closes, those places get more crowded. I never thought I’d be in this position. I’m rooting for a store I hate to stay open so it doesn’t affect my enjoyment of other stores! So Palombo, you suck but please don’t close! EDIT: Place is officially closed. But it seems the place really doing business is not so much Dunkin Donuts but the next door bagel store(which is really good!). Lots of people will blame Dunkin Donuts, but the real reason for Palombo’s downfall is their expansion and not focusing on just being a bakery along with the indifference of the staff/owners. They didn’t even leave a thank you for your patronage note. Just abandoned ship like they were never here,

I went to Palombos on 11÷1÷14. I got a couple of cookies, a few mini fruit tarts and one napoleon. When I opened the box and saw the fruit tarts close up, they did not look appetizing. The raspberries were black and moldy. The entire pastry was so soggy. Definitely not fresh. Did not finish. The napoleon had good flavor, but was soggy and old. The jelly in between the cookies was very hard, indicating that they are not fresh. The cookie itself was extremely hard. Overall, nothing caught my eye to make me return. I don’t want to eat old pastries.

We recently bought Italian bread from this place and it was terrible. We have bought Italian bread from this place on many other occasions and the bread was great. This is the third time we have been there for bread with same results. The bread tastes like day old supermarket bread. I will never buy bread from there again and suggest to everyone to look for another bakery if you are look for fresh baked goods.

So I went here yesterday… First and foremost, it was 93 degrees outside, and probably 100 degrees inside the bakery! Why isn’t there any air conditioner? I dont know if this is the typical deal, but it was pretty brutal yesterday. My dad and i decided to get some sweets while waiting for the rain to die down. There was a older woman behind the counter, and plenty of nice sofas to lounge on. Not much greeting from the woman behind the counter tho. She took our order for one small coffee, and 2 pastries. We had one of the italian cookies, and a fruit tart. The coffee was good, tasted like what you can make at home. The italian cookie was amazing, soft and delicious. The fruit tart was mehhh. The fruit seemed a little rotten(probably from horrible temperatures), and the crust itself was a little powdery and tasteless. They have so many yummy things on display, but I don’t think i’ll return. The prices are very affordable. I only spent 5 bucks, and the bathroom is clean.

As a long time resident of Co-op City I have to sadly say this Palombo is a huge disappointment to me. I haven’t visited in a while but when I did it was fantastic. I was running late to work and had no time to have my daily Dukin Donuts run so I came here to get a cup of Iced Coffee. Disgusting, there wasn’t a coffee taste. More like pounds of sugar put in. I was angry and upset. This place was amazing before but is not a place to spend your money now. Pass on this one.

I’m giving an honest review. Doesn’t deserve 5 stars, but also doesn’t deserve all those poor reviews. It is FARBETTERTHANDUNKINDONUTS — how to even make that comparison? Prices are quite competitive for what they offer — quality Italian pastries, coffee, espresso, and a pretty full restaurant selection including exceptional pizza. Comfortable, somewhat upscale décor, and except for one sour woman, reasonably friendly service. A friend from Manhattan thought the quality of the cappuccino and pastries was nearly 4 star, at prices that are far lower than the same quality in Manhattan. — — — — — — — - Update: Bakery is closed.

They have added a nice restaurant at the back of the bakery café. The chef, Giovanni Mariano who hails for Calabria, makes wonderful fresh pasta dishes, thick juicy pork chops, wonderful sauces, and more. Quite delish, especially for Co-op City where there is(and has always been) a dearth of decent restaurants. And, except for one year, I have purchased wonderful birthday cakes from their bakery over the past 12 years.

This review is for the Palumbo Bakery Café Co-op City location. Find somewhere else to go because this place is not worth the visit. Admittedly, the café serves a good purpose in the area because it is like the neighborhood gathering place for many locals, especially seniors. It looks large and the couches look really comfortable. Also, the prices are somewhat competitive. I appreciate the café for these qualities. That is where it stops for me. The baked goods are not good at all, although I have never experienced the breads. I will admit that the pastry selection actually looks good, but their execution is an epic fail. All you taste is sugar. You do not taste the richness of the chocolate or the delicateness of a cream filling; you will taste plenty of food coloring and sugar, though. In my opinion, that is not what a dessert should be like. I want to taste the strength(or delicateness) of the individual ingredients and all I get here is sugar. Normally, I suggest to people that they try a place out to draw their own conclusions regardless of what is my analysis. I can honestly say that you should not even bother unless you are in the mood to have nicely decorated sugar. Even thought I live a block away from this place, I still travel 35 minutes one way to get real pastry.

Great Italian bakery(part of a chain in the Bronx) that offers a great selection of cookies, bread, Italian pastries, and cheesecakes. The prices tend to be high and but the quality is superb. As many Italian pastry shops become a rarity in the North Bronx, the presence of Palombo’s in Co-op City is a great as I don’t have to travel to Morris Park or to their Allerton Avenue location for quality baked goods.

Ok I was very hungry this morning and I’m stuck in the bronx I wanted to try someplace besides dunkin donuts, the coffee was very good but that’s it. The place is rather large and looks nice but I saw a roach and I did not see a grade in the window or even pending. I’ll stick with dunkin donuts!

First, they don’t take credit cards. Pastries are ok. Good in a pinch. Mediocre customer service. I do enjoy wactching the seniors enjoy their coffee. This is the Bartow location. It would be interesting to visit the others.

The pastries just don’t taste very good. They’re dry… or in the case of many-a-failed birthday cake, too wet. Yes, the bottoms of the cakes have water on them. I don’t know why… I just wouldn’t call this place worth a trek… The one in Riverdale is better– at least they have gelato.

The only time I ever go here is if I have ABSOLUTELYNO breakfast in my house. Even then, 99% of the time I’ll starve until the next meal… First of all, they’re using lard and other types of oils to make their products. They use the cheapest ingredients in everything. The thing that pisses me off the most is how they flip flop on their prices(they have no prices listed anywhere). One time I was having a sweet tooth and I decided to get a cannoli. It was supposed to be $ 1.50 but the girl said it was $ 2. I had another sweet tooth the day before and I kindly informed the girl that the lady standing next to her charged me $ 1.50. She let me go but got an attitude. They have no right to go up in prices with sub par products! The only people that like this stuff have never had REAL pasteries.

Fresh bread and pastries. Sit in, cappuccino machine, and breakfast! I’ll review more later. I usually buy the bread. *Update 08/22/2007 Had my usual pastries today: 2 cream puffs(chocolate and vanilla) and a chocolate éclair. Very, very, very disappointed. The selection was so limited and their pastries were all hard because the fridge case was on too cold. I’m glad I ordered a café au lait to go with it or else I would have demanded my money back. Normally places charge by pound, Crosby Bakery charged 9 bucks a pound, Buhre 8 dollars. This place charges 85cents a piece for the minis. Not bad but not worth it. Sadly Co-op is left with take it or travel far selection. And I’m not going to bother trying anything else from there after that. How can u possibly screw up an éclair or cream puff? Sigh.
