The Sanz Banquet Hall

We rented their 2^nd location on white plains rd next to iHop by the bruckner. Can’t find it here on Unilocal but… SMFH! First, when we arrived someone parked in front of the door because they ACTUALLY allow parking RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE ONLY ENTRANCE (who does that?!) couldn’t get in to set up for a whole hour. Ppl arrived for the party and had to wait outside. When we finally got in, they had two little speakers to play the music. The aux plug was messed up and didn’t work for the first 20 minutes. When we finally got the music to play, the bass speaker was out for another 30 mins so the music sounded like it was playing out of a tiny boom box. The sound barely reached the back of the room. After we got both speakers to work, we kept having to play with the wire through out the party because the music would begin to sound distorted and get static. When we started setting up the food which is next to this door that smelled like an entrance to a wet dirty basement, a giant water bug came out of it! THEN, there was no lock to the only bathroom door. Just a sign that said «please knock first» which you wouldn’t be able to hear anyone yell they are inside anyway after the music finally started working. The first two hours were a complete NIGHTMARE! But the party ended up being pretty cool I guess cause they have the whole décor already set up… That’s about it. Definitely over priced! And if you want liquor, you have to pay another $ 100 on top of the rental fee AND security deposit for event insurance. Won’t be renting there again, and wouldn’t suggest it either.

While this seemed like the perfect place to throw a party, they are unorganized and don’t know how to run a business. I called to try and hold the private room for a certain date. Was told someone would call me back. Even after I called back multiple times to secure the room for this certain date. Now finally getting a hold of someone they tell me the room is booked. The lady I spoke with was rude and unprofessional. I will never consider to use this business again OR recommend them to any of my friends or family. Do better and get more organized.

What a great place & wonderful food. Staff on top of drinks, clearing, etc. Just a terrific party, thanks!

I really tried to have a positive view of The Sanz but I have to be honest about my experience.
Had my son’s baby shower there and I have to say you don’t get much for your money. The first time we went to look at the venue, the lady we dealt with (I didn’t get her name) was very friendly and professional. I have to admit after all the payments were made, she didn’t appear to be as friendly — she was almost to the point of being rude to us.
I like the upstairs venue as everything is in one big room with lots of outside light from the doors/​windows in the back of the room. The room cost a pretty penny and in my opinion, we didn’t get much for the money. They provided tables and chairs (although we needed an extra table for the DJ and it was like pulling teeth to get one — I honestly don’t understand what they big deal was) and we were told that if we wanted tablecloths for additional tables that would cost an extra $ 12 each. Really??? They also provided the chair bands in whatever color you wanted.
I found it strange that since this is a banquet hall, they don’t provide ice. The gave us a small bucket to put ice in — which of course wasn’t enough to hold about 100 people so I had to provide extra containers. We also had to get «day of» insurance — something I have NEVER heard of until dealing with this venue. I checked with a couple of people that I know and they have never heard of this either.
Lastly, we were told that we could only decorate one hour before the allotted time for the start of the party and we had one hour to clean up. I had a shower chair delivered and since it was a Sunday the chair company wanted to pick the chair up the next day. The lady at The Sanz told me that if they didn’t pick the chair up by 11am on Monday they would put the chair on the street. Wow, really? That’s great customer service.
I have dealt with other venues that are way more upscale than this one and they don’t have such stringent policies or deal with customers in such a way to make you feel that THEY are doing YOU a favor by letting you rent their establishment. Since that is how they made me feel I cannot in all honestly recommend this venue.
