I was just charged $ 5.77 for a coffee and an egg and cheese on a roll. An egg on a roll is priced 1.75 and they told me that adding cheese made it $ 3.00. When I opened my sandwich, the roll was not toasted and the egg filled up the middle of it and that’s about it. Oh and this is after standing around for 5 minutes while my sandwich was ready but the lady didn’t tell me. I should have just gone to a bodega.

I heard a lot of great things about this place so I was very excited on going to check it out and to my surprised worse experience ever !!! The place smell like cigarettes I tried ordering my sandwich and got a rude response from the workers they were rude they took so long to take my order that I ended up leaving I can’t believe that’s how it went I will never be coming here again or recommend it to any of my friends that live around there !!!

Great sandwiches! I’ve ordered delivery from here twice. The first time they forgot the pesto on my chicken panini which was disappointing, but the sandwich was still great! They are also very reasonably priced. I typically expect to pay at least $ 8 for a sandwich, but my panini was only $ 6.50. The second time delivery took longer than I expected, but my sandwich was delicious. I also really enjoyed their chocolate chip cookies! This is my favorite sandwich place in Riverdale.

My family has been getting food from this great Riverdale/Mosholu Ave deli for years. The food is always fresh and delicious. It’s in close proximity to Van Cortland and a quick drive for the local H.S. seniors. The Irish music, friendly staff, and quick service make this a go-to place. Priced very reasonably for the quality and the neighborhood. Always super clean and welcoming. Favorites include creating a custom salad, the chicken cutlet with pesto, mozzarella, avocado and bacon Panini, the dinner specials(esp. the corned beef and cabbage), the raisin walnut bread, and the best chocolate chip cookies and mini desserts. Great for catering. Double parking is the norm.

The ingredients Tierney uses is always fresh and delicious. I’ve had almost everything on their menu and was never unsatisfied. The quality of ingredients and food is on par with cafes you’d find in Manhattan, which is a rarity in the Bronx. You can get a good meal for a decent price, about $ 6 – 12. For me, that’s not bad compared to prices you would have to pay in Manhattan. I highly recommend a Chicken Casear Salad, Grilled Chicken with Pesto, or Grilled Chicken Casear Wrap. They do casear stuff really well :) They also have to-die for desserts. The chocolate chip cookies are AMAZING when they’re fresh. One complaint I have is that whenever I get them in the store, the cookies are always semi-hard. This is a major disappointment because most of the time, the cookies are soft when Tierneys caters so I expect the same quality when I go to the store. Other baked goods include small pecan or blueberry pies, tarts, peanut butter cookies, and croissants. I highly recommend Tierneys for your next lunch option. They also have excellent catering options.

My bacon, egg, and chese sandwich and coffee was excellent. Great selection of bagels. I’m partial to the multi-grain bagel. My bacon was crisp and the coffee was not strong, just the right consistency. I’d consider coming back for lunch!

I like this place — great quality sandwiches and Irish foodstuffs, but yes, the price is on the high end… especially for the imported items(chocolates etc) available for Christmas etc. I can get the same things for 1⁄3 less in Woodlawn, which is what I now do. Apart from that, the food is excellent and the shop is clean with a pleasant atmosphere. They also sell some unique locally crafted food items. I do agree with the other reviewer about the owner preferentially checking out regular customers even if you’re waiting in line. This has happened me a couple of times also, and I agree, it’s unprofessional. I do understand wanting to keep your ‘base’ happy, but it’s a bad policy if you’re trying to increase your customer base.

I buy breakfast here all the time. The muffins are scrumptious. Prices are average for the Riverdale area. Check it out

I don’t know why anyone hates on this place?! It’s clean, friendly, and where else can you get these food items imported from Ireland and the UK?! Of course prices are high! It’s because you’re paying for unique quality items! If this place was in Manhattan the owner would be rolling in cash but because it’s in miserable Riverdale all you see are complaints! Keep up the great work guys!

Manhattan deli in Riverdale. Sandwiches are priced right and all the comfort foods of home available for lunch or dinner Monday through Friday. Its always busy and they do a great job of keeping the lines moving. Egg whites with veggies and toast in the morning. Great way to start the day…

Good deli food for affordable prices. I love their panini sandwiches. Drink selection is lacking a little bit.

This is really the only place to go in the neighborhood for a quality deli sandwich or an espresso drink. If I need a latte I come here. The sandwiches are also fresh and made with quality ingredients. The candy and chips etc are slightly expensive, but when it comes to the European stuff, it is going to be like that most places. The cold drinks also seem on the high side, but again, I’m not coming here for that. It is all about the coffee, sandwiches and baked goods. I will say I agree that the woman who is sometimes at the register is a bit brusque and could be more personable. My take was that she is probably the owner. But she has never done anything that would prevent me from coming in, nor anything that would cause a 1-star review.

Good selection of Irish goods, however extremely overpriced. No good air conditioning so the chocolate bars are usually melted in the summertime. I would recommend McLean Ave instead, even larger selection, great butcher shop and oh so much cheaper.

If I could, I would give this place a minus star. But of course I can’t. First of all, I will agree with the other reviewers, this place does have a good selection but the prices aren’t really doing it for me. In a neighborhood where there’s a grocery store in almost every corner, a sushi place, restaurants, they could do better. I mean, they charge almost $ 4 dollars for their brownies and this place ain’t even Magnolia Bakery. But my problem EVERYTIME I GO is with the staff, there’s always this female cashier that is so nasty and rude it makes me think twice whenever I want to buy something. I was on line waiting to pay for my lunch and this guy just got in front of me and she ringed his stuff up! I didn’t say anything because I wasn’t really in a rush but still! The place might have a lot of healthy snacks but I can’t deal with her, I rather just go to Garden Gourmet and get my snacks there and not have a hard time. If you’re looking to be treated horribly, then this place is for you.

One of the few Riverdale establishments with Manhattan-quality salads and sandwiches. The ingredients are fresh and the flavors are expertly arranged. There is a wide, wide assortment of British and Irish specialty goods as well as delicious fresh baked goods. Best of all, the pricing is incredibly reasonable. I only wish it had a location in South Riverdale.

Great spot to grab lunch to-go: Build your own salad, quality made-to-order sandwiches, as well as a case of pre-mades(made that day!) if you want to grab-and-go. The cookies are also worth noting because they are freaking delicious. The prices are reasonable, so when I find myself needing to grab something for lunch, I default to Tierney’s.
