Prices are good! Great little spot for pre game drinks. The door man was awesome! He got a kick out of the fact that we were here from Texas(cause the Yankees play stupid Houston!). It’s nice to be in a little local place. The guys here seem to be loyal to the bar and the bartenders which is always a good sign. We didn’t have time to eat but our neighbor’s food looked good.

Meh. Just meh. Menu is standard bar fare with nothing extraordinary: sandwiches, wraps, appetizers. Service wasn’t bad — the waitress was quite good. But nothing spectacular. Don’t expect much by way of ambiance: this is truly a sports bar. Ladies, jut close your eyes and find a happy place if you need to use their facilities. If you’re in a rush to grab a bit before the game and don’t want to pay $ 10 for a beer at the stadium, this is an option.

Fun place near Yankee Stadium to have some grub & drinks before the game. We had a wonderful waitress named Grace that was so friendly and talkative to us out-of-towners in NYC for the game vs. Boston.(Yankees won!!) Went back after the game for the yummy sandwiches we had before the game but the kitchen was closed but still would love to visit again!

My friend and I visited this place twice before the games at the Yankee Stadium. It’s always crowded I don’t know how! The place seems old and dirty, the little bathroom is disgusting and full of toilet paper and garbage all around the floor like they don’t even clean it. An old skinny guy that works there as a bartender has a nasty attitude and he looks careless and on a bad mood. He has a big mouth to reply stupidities to the customers if you ask for something. For ex, I asked him how much would a bottle of Jaegermeister cost me and he just replied in front of more customers and using a nasty attitude«if I think that I was in a liquor store to buy that bottle, that I was in a bar!» Yelling at me, I was just in shock with his reaction. I though that you can buy a bottle anywhere and drink it. Second visit, I didn’t see the old man. A young man took care of us. He was nice and very attentive, the bar was packed again. I didn’t try any food there and I don’t think I would.

This place gets the job done. Descent selection and prices, especially compared to what is in the area. This has always been my go to before Yankee games. Good atmosphere.

Yankee tavern has Great food and it’s close to the stadium. The wait staff is fast and polite. I had a buffalo chicken wrap, but I think you need to ask for lettuce and tomato because it just came with chicken in the wrap. All in all it was an inexpensive lunch spot to hit up before the game.

The portions here are ENORMOUS. Between three of us, we ordered fried calamari, BBQ chicken wings, spinach salad, and chicken quesadilla. We weren’t expecting a huge spread! We all left feeling stuffed. Whenever I’m in the area, definitely going back!!!

Yankee Tavern is not the worst place to grab a beer before the game, given the mediocre options in the vicinity. The best things about it are the memorabilia and the laissez faire atmosphere. You can definitely get sloshed here in a short period of time while bs-ing with your buddies. On the flip side, there’s really nothing that would make me choose this place if a better bar opened across the street. The beer selection is extensive, but offering 20 taps of uninspired lagers is not really better than offering a half dozen. The best beer snobs can do is a Brooklyn Summer or something of that ilk. And then you’re paying $ 7 or $ 8 for these suds, which is serious gouging the way I see it. I’ve no idea where the cheap drinks I see mentioned in other reviews were being served, but it’s not here. Anyways, I gripe, but the bar is fine. Still, now that NYCFC is here, I would like to see a more soccer-friendly, beer-savvy spirit emerge at YT and the surrounding taverns.

It’s one of the only bars I go to whenever I’m at Yankee Stadium. The beer menu is just decent enough to satisfy my snobbiness. The food is true dive bar food, but after a long, cold night at the stadium, it did the trick. It was super crowded when we arrived after the game, but there were plenty of tables in the back, so that worked out quite well for us!

Whenever in town to check out a yankees game this is my favorite bar to hang out before the game. The fans are die hard and the beer is great .Gets really crowded best to get there couple hours before the game.

Sept 25th, In town from Los Angeles to witness The Captain win his final game at Yankee Stadium! Stayed inside Yankee Stadium(200ft from the Tavern) for about an hour after the game. Yankee Tavern was still packed with happy Yankees sharing drinks! Bartender was quick and friendly even though we were all packed in to the bar without an inch to spare! Good prices & Good beer selection! Right off the Subway!

Hey. This bar may not be super fancy and clean. But it’s close to the stadium, and the service is quick. Try the Brooklyn summer ale.

Has to be one of my favorite bars on my list. This bar did not appeal to me at first but it really is a good old fashioned bar where you can go relax and have a good price. The bartenders are great with the customers, always friendly and attentive. The food servings are plentiful and great for the price. Also talk about a good drink; not watered down but a true strong drink. I love that they don’t skimp on their customers! I love the Yankee memorabilia all over giving it that cozy old school charm. It’s very easy to feel comfortable here which I love. I always recommend it to people when my friends come to visit me.

not Murphy’s in Wrighlyville. Not as good as McFadden’s at Citifield but it’s the place to go pre Yankee game. Forget Stans and Billys. Way over priced there. The tavern is a classic pre game bar. The food is so so but way better than the over priced Hard Rock Café. Beers are good and the wait staff are earnest.

This place seems to be a fan favorite, the kind of place that a granddad would take his grandson(both Yankee fans, mind you) before heading to see the Bronx Bombers crush their opposing team. It’s somewhat dive-y without losing the sports bar touch; you get bombarded with Yankee memorabilia as soon as the bouncer lets you through the door. There’s a decent selection of beers on tap, with prices that are well below that within the stadium. That alone gives me(and should give you) good reason to swing by Yankee Tavern before the game. If you’re looking for some fan-camaraderie, this is your place as everyone is decked out in Yankee gear and pumped for some baseball action. I’m not huge on baseball, so I could use a bit more energy here(or better music). But I can understand the appeal of Yankee Tavern!

Continuing the Opening Day celebration. We stopped in for a quick one before leaving for home. We almost got to witness a barroom brawl, but not between drunk patrons, between 2 bartenders. One was carrying a garbage can on his shoulder and hit another one in the head. It was pretty tense for a few minutes as they yelled at each other behind the bar. Anyway, it’s just another fan favorite before, during and after a Yankee game.

If I ever get to meet Yogi, I’d like to buy him a drink here. If/when I go to a Yankees game, I much rather drink here than pay the exorbitant beer prices at the stadium. I’ve even been known to go here with friends during the off season. Also, the nicest bartenders ever.(I know people say that a lot, but here, in this instance, I truly mean it.).

We wanted to save some money on drinks & food before the madonna concert, so we decided to come by here. glad we did, I stuck w some Stella beer, my friend had the vodka & monster drink since they had no red bull… beer was good, the drink was great nice & strong. after a few we decide to get something small to eat, fries we good so was the grilled cheese & the potatoe croquettes were pretty good as well. I think they can do w/out the gravy but it was not bad with it. Nice service, good drinks & decent prices, I wouldnt mind stopping by again any time before a concert or game.

Solid little spot to grab a few beers before the game. It’s almost like a dive bar dedicated to everything NY Yankees. Just for that alone makes it worth downing a beer here. Walking in you see all types of pictures and memorabilia on the walls. Pictures of the stadium, photos of former players, jersey’s, ticket stubs, Yankee history, etc. The food here is basically mediocre pub grub. You go here for some booze really, but skip the food. Decent selection of beer on tap and prices are reasonable. Fun crowd if you are a Yankee fan, but expect to get razzed if you walk in here with another team’s gear on. Friendly bartenders and waitresses too. Easy to get to as it’s close to the subway and pretty much across the stadium. Can get crowded on game days as is the norm, but not too bad overall. I still prefer the loud crowded rock and roll rowdiness of Stan’s down the street.
