I went here to learn biofeedback for chronic pain though you could also use it for reducing anxiety. This is something this office specializes in and they have excellent equipment and instruction to show you how use biofeedback, which is basically meditating to change your body’s physiological responses to stress like muscle tension, fast heart rate, etc. I feel like it has really helped me cope with my pain and I highly recommend them. The best part is that this is covered by most insurance that covers basic mental health outpatient visits.

I was so excited to find Boston Behavioral Medicine; I had been looking for a holistic/behavioral therapist and was glad to find so many in one place. To make an appointment you leave a message on the general mailbox(there isn’t a receptionist to take calls) and someone calls you back to match you with an appropriate therapist. The therapist called me back a few days later to schedule the actual appointment. So far so good. Except, on the day of the appointment, the therapist never showed up. Since there is no receptionist, you just wait in the waiting room until your therapist comes to get you. All the other 3:00 patients were picked up by their therapists until I was sitting alone. At 3:25 I called and left a message on the general mailbox stating(nicely) the possibility that we had a miscommunication about the scheduled meeting, and that I would like to speak to the therapist about rescheduling. It’s now two weeks later and I never heard back from the therapist, the woman who matches you to a therapist, or anyone else at BBM. I have several friends who are therapists and they were all horrified to hear that not only did this woman miss her appointment, but there was no follow-up after that. Thankfully I don’t have abandonment issues. Back to the drawing board.

I went to Boston Behavioral for over a year and whenever I knew someone who was considering counseling I always suggested them. I went to see two very different counselors there but each one was kind, objective, provided lots of ideas and advice, and helped me become a better person. The office is intimate and each counselor really gets to know you and the world you live in.
