The veggie pizza smells like the open back of a trash truck on a wet Tuesday morning. Cheese is never quite cooked, and the crust is not crusty.

I have the distinction of working and going to school approximately fourteen inches from BHOP. Reviewing a place with which one has become so intimately familiar can be a little difficult, like writing a review about one’s spouse, or cat. Maybe not quite at that level. In any case, BHOP(pronounced«bee-hop» by those in the know)(and by that, I mean, those of us who eat here five times a day) offers the best and friendliest customer service around, and Pete can remember ANYTHING you throw at him. Name? Favorite order? Number of pets and their first and last names? Check check check. Once, I was in the unfortunate position of having too much work to do, and sent my work/study student out to get me lunch; he told Pete my name, and Pete immediately knew what I wanted and how I wanted it prepared. Scary and awesome. The pizza is not my absolute favorite, which is weird because it’s definitely strangely addictive, and this is where the review takes that weird«repeat customer» turn. I love the Greek salad, but my favorite menu item is the grilled veggie sandwich, which I find to be the only way to get a vegetarian sandwich on the block. Not only that, but it’s delicious. Four stars is because they tend toward expensive, there is an $ 8 credit card minimum(and I’m a consummate plastic-user), and the weirdly-addictive pizza. But the fries, oh my god, the fries are just really the best fries I have ever had. And there is no hyperbole there. If someone were to say to me, listen, you can only have one order of fries forever for the rest of your life, I would say, take me to BHOP. They are hot, fresh, consistently crispy on the outside, and there are none of those«dud fries» that one suspects were never actually potatoes to start with. Check this place out for the fries and camaraderie, and you will not regret your decision.

Not bad, not amazing– it’s your run-of-the-mill Boston pizza/sub shop. I got a wrap which was good & the fries are alright, too. Can’t fairly judge the place as a «house of pizza» as I haven’t tried theirs.

Nicest people around. The pizza is nothing to write home about, but the salads, oh the salads. The greek salad is amazing. Topped with tuna or chicken, so, so amazing. I’ve yet to find a better greek salad. Subs, fries, etc, also good. I’ve not had their pasta dishes. Customer service is excellent!

That Pete guy is okay. He’s like the John Stamos of cashiers. And I’m definitely talking about customer service. NOT looks. free refills/5

I’d give this place four stars if they were a little better with their cleanliness. The owner handles change and touches food, which is disgusting in itself, but the worst is when I saw the older cook take his sweaty cap off and scratch his head. He then went on to pull his iPhone out of his pocket with the same gloves on from the head-scratching and continued cooking. Please, please, do not handle food and money, and do not let your cooks scratch themselves and continue preparing food! The food is pretty yummy and I haven’t gotten sick(yet). Hopefully they’ll clean up their act.

Pizza is terrible. The crust tastes like it came from a freezer. It’s doughy and has a chemical aftertaste. The sauce tasted old and the cheese also had an aftertaste. Overall, I think I’ve had better pizza in a high school cafeteria. The fries were decent, but I waited so long for the food that I cannot bring myself to give them more than 1 star. Yuck. They also charge $ 2.50 for a can of soda. SO ridiculous — highway robbery!

Pizza was average but tasty and good for the price. Greek salad and spinach pie were good too. Worth a stop in for a quick bite and the service was very friendly.

Awesome food, great service. The streak tips are killer… as is the pizza, as is the pita, as is the gyro. The staff remember you, your name and your regular order if you come back more than once. One of the best kept secrets of Boston University West — the faculty at the school of music know it, but luckily the students don’t!

I stumbled onto this place a few months ago thanks to his high Unilocal rating and it has been my go-to since then for all things quick, easy and very tasty! Peter, the owner, now knows me personally(not sure if that’s good or bad…) and takes great care of me, especially when I swing by with the tornado which is my 2 kids. Those who have mentioned the greek salad are right on — it’s the perfect size and unlike any other I’ve tried. Their pizza is also the best of anything I’ve tried in the area and they always have slices on hand for the quick in and out. Peter’s motto is «I wouldn’t serve it if I wouldn’t eat it myself» and he stays true to that time and time again. His food is top notch and my order is always ready when I show up. Give this place a try, you definitely won’t regret it.

My class and I just went here for lunch. The service was good. My meatball sub was made even better by the flaky, moist roll. Overall, a good experience. I definitely recommend it!

Christine is the nicest, most professional person to work with when ordering! She is so accommodating, and helpful. She answered a call earlier than opening for me and that was incredible as she obviously did not have to do that. Their pizza is awesome and their salads are great!

Do not confuse this with the other Boston House of Pizza that has locations in Watertown and Brookline. This place has one restaurant. I’ve had their pizza, and it is your standard Greek sub shop pizza. Fries are also good. Besides trying those a couple times, all I ever order there is the greek salad. By far the BESTGREEKSALAD I have ever had. It’s just iceberg, tomatoes, pepperocini, onions, cukes, olives, and a generous dose of feta. They serve it with really great pita bread and what makes it so amazing — their home made vinaigrette which has a perfect balance of acid, oil, and herbs. Their tzatziki is also so good! The staff(especially the owner) could not be nicer — they will remember your name and your order.

I’m from Southern California, land of sucky pizza. Today, as were driving back to the hotel after visiting Boston College, we stopped in for some pizza. YYYYUUUMMMM! I’d eat here all of the time if I lived here. Great pizza. Great service. Loved!

I am from central Connecticut. Hold the applause. Many people do not realize that mainland Connecticut has their own style of pizza. No no no no. Not Mystic Pizza– that crap is gross. It’s not New Yorkstyle or Chicago style or Greek or anything like any of them. I am talking about crispy med crust… Tons of cheese that somehow is never stringy … Cut in a grid pattern… Possibly beer in the sauce… Who KNOWS what they use, but it is amazing– and the fact that no one outside of Connecticut knows about it is AWESOME. Well, BHOP is the closest I have found to date outside of the constitution state. You have to say«extra crispy» and ask them to cut it in a grid. But man oh man… almost perfect. they are open pretty late, which is nice… And their subs are a-ok ass well. But it’s all about the pizza.

«Let’s go get some pizza at BHOP,» my friend offered. I hadn’t given much thought to the name of the place, blaming it on my weakening hearing due to being verbally berated by my parents almost every day. But after arriving at the place, I noticed the font outside the storefront: Boston House of Pizza. How clever. It seems to be a favorite for sports fans and students alike(the Patriots vs Jets game was on and everyone was eagerly cheering the Patriots on. I was too afraid to voice that I was from New York, especially since I didn’t order my food yet. I wonder if I did, they would’ve surely jacked up the price of my pizza to something absurd like a million dollars). I ordered a regular slice of pizza(the only thing you should order to ensure you can rate a pizza place fairly. If their regular slices aren’t good, what makes you think the rest of their specialty slices will be?) with a side of fries. And. It. Was. Delicious. I mean, it’s sort of a traitorous move, being from New York City: The Home of Authentic Delicious Fatty Fat Cholesterol Filled, Artery Clogging Pizza and agreeing that Boston pizza was equally delicious. The crust was nice and crunch, the cheese was absolutely wonderful and deliciously stringy without being rubbery or too chewy, and it was hothothot, just the way I liked it. I didn’t even have to add cheese or pepper flakes or anything. It was perfect just the way it was. The fries were good too. The only reason this place didn’t get five stars was because the place is, after all, a pizza joint and the décor and sanitary conditions aren’t what you’d expect for a five star rating. Plus, being the only estrogen in the testosterone filled place was a bit off-setting. The staff was nice, though. Perhaps a little too nice. I hope I get to go back. I wanted to order almost everything off that menu.

It’s close to work so I will go here when I do forget to bring my lunch. Grinders are good and big. Salads have WAY more than a Panera salad and cost about the same. Chef Salad and Italain Grinder are my two go-tos. Friendly and quick service.

I am about to leave work(here in NY) and am thinking about food and what pops into my mind… Boston House of Pizza’s Greek Salad with Chicken. ooooh how I miss you!!! I loved going there right after work and before I went into class to get dinner. Steak tips were also good along with their pizza. When i am back in Boston I will have to make a stop there. I recommend it, its not the 5 star restaurant but the food never failed. Cheap, and yummy what more can you ask for!
