History

Established in 2013.

Founded in 2013, Gavin McCarthy Herbals is the result of many years of the study, and practice of clinical herbalism, from a Western vitalist perspective. The founder was educated at the Commonwealth Center for Holistic Herbalism, taught by teachers who trained with Rosemary Gladstar. Gavin McCarthy Herbals specializes in herbal consultations, teaching herbal medicine, making, and working with flower essence therapies.

Business Owner

Gavin is an herbalist, teacher, and fermenter of live, probiotic foods. He has learned to work with the plants that grow in the abandoned lots and roadsides of Boston, finding life and vibrancy all over the city. He believes that the plants want to help us to heal our bodies, and bring peace to our minds.

Gavin came to herbal medicine while on his own healing path. Finding conventional medicine’s methods frustrating and disempowering, he now teaches others that their health is in their own hands. Healing ourselves with plants and lifestyle changes, we can regain our agency and connection to the rhythms of our bodies and the world around us.
