I stayed at the Marion Inn for 3 months and it was perfect for me as a researcher temporally working in the longwood medical area. 20 min walk to work, T stop around the corner and restaurants, supermarkets and Coolidge corner within 10 min walking distance. It’s a old building, but it is clean and overall pretty good maintained by the helpful and friendly owner. It met all my needs. I stayed in a room, which was equipped with cable tv, microwave and fridge, and had a shared bathroom(shared with 3 – 4 others). There is also a shared kitchen for everyone in the house, which is suitable some light and basic cooking. Both were cleaned by the Inn twice a week. The location is pretty popular for researchers/scholars working at the long wood medical area, since it is not easy to find a good room in the area available for short term rent at a decent price like this Inn.

My parents were in town visiting for a week and required nearby lodging. Full-service hotels in Boston can be pricey, and Marion Inn provided us with a hassle-free experience, a pleasant living environment and a convenient location base from which to explore Boston. We saw no mice during our stay. The management assured us that this was a past issue and that pest exterminators now conducted monthly inspections of the inn. The management of this property was always available via phone or email — We never met in person, but they were accommodating and instructions were always communicated clearly. The location was perfect for our needs, in a quiet area yet close to the subway and amenities at Coolidge Corner. Two grocery stores were within 10 minutes walk. The room was also very nicely decorated and more spacious than we had expected. There is a decent-sized sitting room with an attached closet, a corner sink, a small dining area with a café table and two chairs, as well as space for a couch and television. Many decorative accent pieces and ornaments added a tasteful aesthetic to the room. The adjoining bedroom contained a queen bed, a study table and a large dresser cabinet. The attached bathroom was modern and functional. We were also directly opposite a shared kitchen, where we had access to a stove and a coffee machine. We had a wonderful time staying at the property and highly recommend it.

They have MICE. Who are so intrusive that they eat into your unopened food on the counter. And leave droppings on your kitchen table(see pictures if you don’t believe me)… Not enthused. I came to stay in Boston for 4 weeks for work purposes and we thought that the Marion Inn seemed like a nice place to stay long term. My first impression was that it was a little run down, but I am honestly not picky. As long as a place is clean and relatively quiet, I don’t really care about much else. Upon further inspection there was a mildewy plastic mat in the shower, the window a/c unit was so old, loud and obnoxious that I barely slept that night and everything was just very dingy-looking. I was relatively ok until the next morning when I woke up to shreds of my unopened chip bag completely ripped open by mice… there was no denying the evidence. During my panic is when I discovered the droppings on the kitchen table… please don’t stay here. Unless you don’t mind fuzzy visitors. My work was generous enough to get me out of there immediately and put me in a beautiful B&B a couple blocks away(the Bertram Inn — DEFINITELY stay here, huge improvement from Marion Inn). We were booked through a third party who refunded the rest of the stay and were apologetic, but I also found another review on this place that found rodents in their room and the inn keeper didn’t even sound phased. I would wholeheartedly not recommend staying here until they take care of their rodent issue. They also are not inexpensive, so nothing really adds up.

We were the longest livers there. I and my husband stayed there for more than a year. We at times thought of moving to an apartment but as you know finding a short term apartment is just impossible in Boston, esp. if you don’t know how long you might need it for. This is an awesome place to be. There was an ownership change at the beginning of our stay(2009 Oct) so as you know the new ownership took a li’l while knowing and setting it up as per their taste. The inn was also pretty well maintained by the previous ownership and now that they have new owners, they are trying trying to make it even better. They are a Chinese couple. Very hard working and friendly. They go out of their way to accommodate whoever comes. The rates are reasonable considering the location and the facilities that are available. If you are not sure of your length of stay in Boston, this is the place. They have nightly and monthly options. No long term leases. Yet you find everything in there. Just carry your clothes. The kitchen is fully equipped. The rooms are fully furnished. Tea-coffee arrangements in kitchen. Washers, irons etc all in basement. Nicely maintained. AC, heat, hot water, electricity, internet wi-fi all inclusive in the rent: O The place is right on the Marion st or Brookline which is exactly 5 steps away from the subway line and 3 min walk to the bus line. The groceries, liquor, eating joints, bank, post office, dance, yoga and fitness centers right near your nose. Yet pretty quiet.
