Party Favors is a full service party store and bakery. We carry a complete line of party supplies such as streamers, balloons, confetti, banners, tablecloths, plates, cups and napkins. We also carry gifts, wrapping paper, stationery, place cards, table numbers, greeting cards and invitations. Favors and centerpieces are available by custom order.

Established in 1965.

We also carry gifts, wrapping paper, stationery, place cards, table numbers, greeting cards and invitations. Favors and centerpieces are available by custom order.

Our on-​site kitchen produces award-​winning cakes for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, bar and bat-​mitzvahs, showers or any special occasion. Whether you are serving four or four hundred, we can help you create a cake to be enjoyed and remembered by all. We also offer a full line of French and American style tortes, pastries and cookies.

Business Owner

John and MaryLynn Pergantis purchased Party Favors in 1992 from the original owner, and it wasn’t an instant hit.

«On our first day we took just $ 45,» John explains.

Soon however their winning combination of offering a one-​stop-​shop for every occasion from invites, to cupcakes and wedding cakes (John is a trained pastry chef who graduated from the Culinary Institute of America) led the store to success and over twenty years later they are still going strong.

Call ahead to order balloons. Let them know in advance I was in a hurry and would pay at pick up and the ok’d the order. Show up, not having been to this location I didn’t know where balloon pick up was and no one acknowledged my existence. When I finally did get a person’s attention he direct me to the balloon area where they not only did not have my order ready but apparently never got the order. No sorry just a lot of people claiming «they didn’t take the order!» Waste of my time would not recommend this place very unorganized!

I was very disappointed. I was so excited about my cake, and the woman who took my order did not listen carefully to what I wanted. I told her that I wanted my cake to look like the picture on their website, and they took the easy way out and made just one tier in the wrong shape and color. I had a friend drive four hours total to get this special cake, and when I told the saleswoman about the problem, all she did was say, «Sorry.» They did not offer any possible solutions. Not very good customer service.

Bought a cupcake as a treat today. It was called «German Chocolate». But here’s the thing German Chocolate is not dark chocolate with coconut and pecans. It’s a lighter chocolate with caramel, coconut and pecans. The cupcake was pretty but tasted old and stale– both the cake and the frosting… like it had been made 4 – 5 days ago. The cake itself was dry. I’m mad that I wasted the calories and $ 4.50 on ½ a stale assed cupcake.- the second half went in the trash! This is my second not-​so-​pleasant experience with this place. I was giving them a second chance, but never again.

Just left here and this place is AMAZING. I haven’t tried all the crazy assorted cupcakes I bought yet but I give them a 10 just based on prettiness and presentation alone. Then there’s the other half of the store (non food section), which has everything you could possibly need for any type of celebration. I could have spent over an hour just browsing. The girl who helped me with the cupcakes was so nice and patient, and another employee sparked up convo with me, which is always appreciated. Even if you’re just having a bad day or feeling sad, go there and you will leave happy. I’ll be back!!!

There cake decorating skills are rather mediocre and basic. However, the cake tasted so good. The cake pops are to die for .
You can get any thing from baked goods. To balloons, ribbon etc. which makes event planning so much easier.

This place is awesome!!! I needed a cake for my step mothers birthday. It was last minute and when I called they said they had four cases of pre made birthday cakes to choose from. I went down there thinking it was unfortunate that I hadn’t planned ahead because my step mother is obsessed with collecting pigs. I saw a
Pig cake online.
When I got there there were tons of options to self customize a cake. Little sugar figurines and cookies. I was discussing it with the lady at the counter and she told me to hang on. She went in back and asked if they could design a pig cake for me and they hooked it up! Ten minutes later she brought out the most adorable cake I have ever seen,…frosting pigs playing in mud!
The cake made her Birthday! The only problem was it was so cute she wouldn’t share or let anyone cut into the pigs. She insisted on taking it home as untouched as possible and freezing it.

The customer service is horrible. The cakes are good. There are so many other custom caker makers — why would you suffer through bad customer service? Go to Konditor meister (Braintree), Icing on the Cake (Newton), or pretty much anywhere but there. I had a work event and my cake was not delivered on time. No apology, blamed the customer, rude. Would never order a cake from them again — customer service is everything and you can get a better cake elsewhere.

THE BEST CAKE IN BOSTON. Wish I got my wedding cake here. Icing is perfect especially if you like sugary icing — not rich cream cheese like. Cake moist and perfect. GORGEOUS DESIGN. LOVE!!!

I rarely eat chocolate deserts any more. One reason is that 90% of them look great, but don’t deliver on taste. The other reason is the caffeine in the chocolate keeps me awake at night. I’m willing to suffer the caffeine hit if the reward is there, but sadly, it rarely is.
Last night I attended a birthday dinner at a friend’s house in Brookline where they had purchased a chocolate moose cake for dessert. The cake came from Party Favors.
This was the best chocolate moose cake I had ever tasted. It has the perfect amounts of richness, moistness, and flavor. If you like moose cake, you have to try this one.

Not only did my mothers birthday cake Come out perfect, it was absolutely delicious as well! I normally don’t like chocolate cake but this cake was to die for. I got one tier chocolate and one marble for her surprise 50th birthday. The cake itself was beautiful. It was clearly done by a professional and the design was very clean and meticulous. The cake was finished when they said it would and it went off without a hitch. I will continue to go to party favors for all of my custom cakes. Although it is pricey you are definitely getting what you pay for and that’s quality. Most custom cakes are not as high quality or they forfeit the Taste of the cake to make it aesthetically pleasing. Party favors hits both on the head with great accuracy!

so I ordered a two tier cake (feeding up to 30 – 35) for a birthday party, and I must say I am very disappointed in the quality of cake that was received. The appearance was good. but Who orders cake for just the nice photo-​op?! I want a cake that taste as good as it looks. I suck at baking but I know enough that with large cake as this, you want the layers to be no thicker than 2″. A proper way would be to cut this uneven top off, and slice that piece in half, so that you have two, roughly 1″ thick layers. and you will ice these, roughly having four thin layers of cake, and thin layer of icing between those. They basically put two thick cake out of the pan„ flipped it upside down (because top portion is convex shaped, and just slapped over 3″ thick icing around the edges, and still very thick icing in the middle-​disgusting. It was made in very lazy fashion, and to my delight, very embarrassing to cut and serve to the guests. All the guest literally had to eat around the super thick icing, and asked where in the world I had this made-​adding that hopefully I didnt pay too much for these. well, I did.
whoever made this cake, should quit being a cake maker, and relearn the basics. Period.
NOT recommended at all.

All things party. Literally. And it’s amazing.
Anytime I need anything… From cakes to cards to gifts and little trinkets, I know where to go. They even have bachelorette party things!
But I think I come here the most for the cakes. I think for 3 birthdays in a row, my roommate and I bought cakes for our friends and probably loved it even more than they do! They look so well done and all the cakes are just so scrumptious. There’s a decent amount of really sweet frosting on the thing, so I wouldn’t suggest consuming the entire cake. But when you have a sweet tooth like me, their cakes will hit the spot! You can also customize cakes — my boyfriend had gotten a massive cake for his birthday/​graduation party and it wasn’t as sweet as the ones they already have pre-​made in the store.
Staff are always willing to help and greet you when you walk in!

As much as my family love their cupcakes, I hate how unfriendly and rude the people that are working there can be.
One time I went with the daughter of a friend. We were patiently waiting in line as we wanted a dozen cupcakes. But once it was our turn the woman helped another woman who came 15min after us. When I told her that we where before I received an annoyed look from both of them. And then the employee with an annoying tone apologized to the other woman while rolling her eyes in our direction and was very rude with both of us. I felt really bad for the little girl who was with me. She even told me than the people here are not nice people. Poor thing she spent the all car ride asking me why if we were first the mean lady was served before us. And why the employee didn’t tell us hi or bye. That’s not very polite! She told me.
Another time I came quickly to pick up some backing stuffs, the guy at the register told me to wait while he was talking to another employee. Then the same thing happened, another woman comes in, he told her to wait and then help her first. I was going to say something but didn’t want to get mad for that and I thought that someone was going to help me very soon considering the 5 employees behind the counter. But no, I had to wait and wait to finally be acknowledge by another employee. To pick up my things and pay took only 2 minutes!
My issue with them is that they choose who they want to be friendly with. I am in my thirty but look younger so they probably think that I am not worth their store.
I am so mad, I always feel unworthy when I go there. I don’t know the names but the guy in question is bold.
Not like they care but I will never order any cake or cupcakes from their store.

I LOVE PARTY FAVORS!!! I have been getting cupcakes from here for years. They also did my wedding cake last year which was amazing. All the guests raved about it. They even delivered it to Rhode Island. The cake decorating team is very creative and the cake and frosting is delicious. They also have excellent Tiramisu.

I love Party Favors! They create the most beautiful, unique cakes and cupcakes. I have gotten a few cakes and various cupcakes from here and always am so impressed with both the designs and taste! It is also one-​stop shopping here as they have everything you need for a party. There is more food beyond the cakes like beautifully decorated cookies also have candles, party goods and more. It is a little pricy, but worth it. I’ll be back in a few weeks to get my boyfriend’s birthday cake! Highly recommend.

Party Favors is a fun place to shop for all your entertaining and birthday needs. It’s definitely pricey, but worth it to avoid going to iParty. I always find myself going in for «just one thing» (famous last words) and walking out an hour later with a bill 5x what I expected to pay. Oops!
In addition to supplies, they also have a full bakery that looks amazing, although I haven’t actually sampled the goods. They have the most adorably decorated cupcakes though!
Worth checking out if you’re not stuck to a strict budget.

Last week I bought a two tier cake that was FABULOUS! I bought the cake for a mermaid themed baby shower & for a very anxious mommy who was specific about what design she was going for. The staff was super patient with me and all of my specific requests and they NAILED the design! I was so pleased.
The cake itself was also delicious, I ordered
One tier chocolate and one tier white. Both were moist and fresh. didn’t have that old refrigerator taste that I’m always scared of on the first bite from any bakery. Everyone at the shower raved about how good the cake was as well as how beautiful it was. I’ll definitely be ordering more in the future and recommending this bakery to friends and family!

Simply put… This store is amazing with everything you would need to throw the most incredible party. From balloons, wrapping paper, birthday hats, gift bags, candles paper products and then lots of chocolates, pastries and cakes.
The stuff is not cheep but the quality is exceptional.

You can’t walk into Party Favors without a big stupid grin magically appearing on your face. This place is fun, even if you’re just browsing. Though I gotta tell ya, you will be wishing you could buy everything in sight. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by a gigantic case of chocolates and candies on your left, and a gigantic case of cakes and cupcakes on your right. Oh and then there’s cookies behind all that. Sugary sweet paradise resides in Coolidge Corner, and I never knew!
Before I go any further, I just have to say this: they’ve got penguin cupcakes! Alright, Party Favors, before I had even tasted anything that you sell, you had already won my heart. I’m a penguin maniac, in case you didn’t know. They had all sorts of other character cupcakes, but I only had eyes for those penguins. Totes adorbs!
Once I finally did try the cupcakes, Party Favors stole my heart once again. The cake is moist and delicious. The frosting is smooth and sweet. My favorite of the four that I tried was the chocolate raspberry. Not only was there raspberry frosting on top, there was some in the middle too. That was a yummy surprise. I also tried the rocky road, strawberry, and peanut butter cupcakes. All were good, the strawberry was a little boring, but it is that chocolate raspberry that wins for me. And before you say it, I know four cupcakes is a lot! I did share, okay?
Anyway, what a great place for any and all sugary needs — candy, cupcakes, birthday cakes… you name it, Party Favors is the place to go for it!

I’m not a cupcake fanboy. Matter of fact, cupcake fanboys don’t exist. They’re actually called «girls.» That said, I’ve always been a fan of the Party Favors cupcake. Right balance between cake and frosting; the latter, neither too sweet, nor too dense.
But this isn’t about their cupcakes. Or their nutty inventory of, well, party favors. Or their extensive selection of bulk candy and chocolate truffles.
This is about a cake tasting.
Wife-​to-​be had PF and one other on the short list for wedding vendors providing, arguably, the comestible equivalent of a maid of honor. Scheduling the tasting was snap, and upon arrival, we were presented with the cake/​filling combinations previously requested. Chris sat patiently, answered questions and provoked consideration when we sat clueless and sugar-​buzzed.
Knowing what you like is one thing (their cakes are moist and spongey; the lemon filling is way too tart), it’s not knowing what you don’t that can rack the brain. Fortunately, Chris was supremely flexible in providing on-​the-​spot flavor combos, and we found ourselves entertaining stuff we never could have predicted.
The process took an hour, and we walked away with detailed price quotes in a variety of scenarios, including the cake/​cupcake hybrid display.
Which means this review is about cupcakes. Full circle.

I like the concept of this place. They sell all kinds of party favors plus baked goods. It’s great because it’s one stop party shopping. I’m surprised that more independent party favor stores haven’t thought to offer up baked goods.
That said, we stopped in here to buy some cupcakes. The cupcakes come in 2 sizes — really huge and really small (or as they refer to them «petite»). We decided to get 4 «petite» cupcakes as it would be a good way to sample different flavors. I told the clerk that we wanted 4 small cupcakes and she looked at me like I had 2 heads. «Small? What do you mean by small?», she asked. My husband pointed to the spot in the display case where the cupcakes were and she said, «Oh, you mean petite». Okay… whatever.
Once that was settled, we chose 1 vanilla, 1 key lime, 1 red velvet and 1 Boston cream. Later in the evening, we tried them. The vanilla, which was garnished with a vanilla wafer had good vanilla flavoring and wasn’t overly sweet plus the vanilla wafer wasn’t stale. The key lime was garnished with a fresh lime slice. My husband bit into the slice thinking that it was a piece of candy and was surprised to find that he was wrong. He thought that the frosting had good lime flavor. The red velvet one had buttercream frosting and only a faint hint of cocoa. As for the Boston cream, the top looked like a Boston cream pie but that’s where the similarity ended, as there was no custard underneath the frosting.
Overall, there were some hits and misses but basically, these cupcakes are «A-​OK». I’m sure that they would appeal to kids. If you are in Coolidge Corner and crave a cupcake, these will fit the bill. However, it’s not worth making a special trip for them.
