Solid Spanish food. Some customers will try to skip. Places gets packed. Best coffee in area the stores sell crap.

I had this restaurant bookmarked after seeing a fellow Unilocaler always checking in here, Lina A. :-). My friend and I stopped here one afternoon for lunch and I had the lunch special of chicken, rice and beans that came with some plantains. The food portions were good and the taste was delicious. I was able to eat lunch and had leftovers for later. The place was pretty crowded for the early afternoon. However, we didnt wait long and the lines moved fairly quick. There were a few people sitting an eating in the few tables and chairs. However, this place is more of a takeout spot especially since it’s not that big and if it’s crowded it could get real tight for space. No big complaints and I will be back when Im in the neighborhood.

I ordered oxtail and rice from this place. The worst food ever. They have the smallest oxtail for starters and it’s just disgusting. I won’t be ordering from this place again. Save your money, any good reviews must be from family members.

If I can give Stanley restaurant a half star I would! Wow. Where do I begin. This coffee shop is around the corner from my girl friends house and its so convenient. Staying in east new York and having so many food choices, sometimes I just want to go back my roots and eat some good Spanish food.
The people that work there truly make me never want to go back there ever again. Don’t even try to call to place an order because you’ll probably be on hold for 20minutes before they even say ok what do you want to order, then wait an hour to an hour and a half for the food to come.
I remember one day I went in with my girlfriend because I wanted mangu. The guy said there was none so they were making some and it would be 20 minutes. I said ok fine.
20 minutes go by and he says just 5 more minutes. And he makes me pay for the food that i ordered. 10 minutes go by he says its almost ready in 5 minutes mami. By this time the cook was bringing out different foods that was more appealing to me and by now I’m just ready to go home. So I ordered something that was already done. Grits and fish. Simple.
The guy got so angry that I wanted to change my order he told me no and said oh u already paid for it. And he showed me the pancake and eggs that was already done and sitting for almost 40 min.
I explained to him that he told me 20 min the mangu would be done 40 minutes ago. I told him, we’re hungry and tired of waiting. He mumbled under his breath and changed the order to new breakfast that we wanted.
What a waste of an hour!
The next time we went in there maybe 2 weeks later, I called before we went over and asked if they still had mangu being it was late in the morning, and the person on the phone tells me YES.
it could have only taking me 5 min to get the restaurant for them to tell me no there was no mangu, and because I didn’t get it the last time I was there after I ordered it that I have to wait for it to be made.
Spiteful much?
My girlfriend and I just looked at him and walked out. The mangu is good when they actually care to make it the right way. Smooth and flavored. Not chunky and dry.
The only time I can deal with this place is on days I have maximum patience and don’t mind being annoyed outta my effin mind and go home angry because they are disrespectful.
There’s no other Spanish spot over here. What can I do? Maybe they will get Better one day

Where do I even begin with this place!!!
For starters, if you call to order your food, you’re placed on hold EVERY TIME!!! Even completely forgotten about after 20 minutes! IF you happen to actually place your order, there is never a total amount or ACCURATE wait time given. They tell you 30 mins for delivery, you get called 75 mins later that your food is coming. After alllllll that time, your food is cold, soggy and almost always not what you ordered. UNREAL!
If you go into the restaurant, you’re standing around for 10 mins, being bum rushed by all the regulars and completely ignored by the staff until you yell out «CAN I ORDER SOME FOOD!!!» Not that they haven’t looked you in your face 3x by this point. No one acknowledges your presence or says «One min». EVER.
It’s really unfortunate to want to support your fellow minority businesses and made to feel like you’re the inconvenience to them. I’m sorry but don’t you eat, feed your children, pay your bills and STILL have a place to work because of the money I’m spending in this establishment, or no??? I spend maybe $ 2 occasionally there before their oatmeal is insanely delicious, but I WILL NOT support a business who doesn’t value me as a customer. Period.

Authentic Dominican food that tastes really good. Totally worth it and the prices are reasonable. The staff are very nice!

Formerly known as Nuevo Santo Domingo Restaurant, the service is AWEFUL in this greasy little hell hole. Hold on to your wallet as the atmosphere feels like someone is going to pick pocket you with crack deals going on right outside the door. Expect to wait at least an hour for drunk, chatty delivery men who give sad stories of getting lost for sympathy & extra tip. The food is ok SOMETIMES but other times, I wouldn’t feed it to my enemies dog. When it’s bad, it’s BAD! It’s a roll of the dice. You have to wonder about a place that keeps changing it’s name & number but kept the same owners & location. Probably had violations for cleanliness. Currently know as «Stanley Coffee Shop» or «Restaurant on Stanley ave.» as the worker told me after he asked another worker what was the name of the restaurant they work in! Plantains are greasy, limp & soggy & the new guy that answers the phone acts like a pregnant woman with aching, swollen feet. Heavy attitude, huffing & puffing. You’ve been warned. I’m calling the health department & immigration on this operation.

The food is good. The special lemonade is awesome. The wait sucks but the food makes up for the wait PROMISE!!!
