I was proud of myself for taking off a day from work for myself. As a working parent of four I rarely make time for myself. After some mouth pain and later a broken tooth, I realized I had to see the dentist immediately. I scheduled the appointment with ease through zocdoc with Dr. Raziel. Finding the address and parking were easy enough, and I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly and professional receptionist as well as the cozy waiting area. My name was called after about 45 minutes even though I arrived early for my appointment. No biggie… I have experienced worse wait time with other dentists. Then I was called by a curt but professional dental assistant for my x-rays. She immediately escorted me over to a dental office and explained that my dental x-rays showed that my teeth needed some work and she opened up a new equipment packet. She reclined the chair and asked that I open my mouth. She proceeded to begin picking and cleaning. Dr. Raziel came in to the doorway directly behind me and I waved hello since I was still in the process of cleaning, ie: sucking device in the mouth– still fully reclined. The dental assistant kept shaking my mouth forcefully and telling me that I was«fighting her» so I did my best to relax. After about 40 minutes of shaking prodding and general torture she lifted the seat to upright position and stated that I was done. I asked if Dr. Raziel was gong to see me or speak to me and she said he had. I was mortified as I had no idea what were the next steps and I felt like I should have taken it upon myself to stop Attila the Hun of Dental Assistants when I waved Hello upside down when Dr. Raziel was standing in the doorway for that fleeting 1 – 2 minutes. Wow, I really felt used and abused. What happened to quality of care? Even though I elected Dr. Raziel as my primary Dentist I will be electing to go to another Dentist. Also, I am calling my Insurance carrier on Monday to let them know in no way shape or form should I have to pay for seeing a Dentist when I literally saw him for two minutes — upside down with Attila the Hun in my mouth. What an insult. I gave one star to ease of access, parking and the welcoming office and one star to the front desk receptionist who gave me an understanding look and said don’t worry I know when I questioned about seeing Dr. Raziel. Only go to this dentist if you want to see a dental hygienist and not a Dentist.
