I def recommend Allergy and Asthma Care of Brooklyn. I love this office. The girls here are always super nice and friendly.

Very good doctors. Very clean space. Very friendly front desk help. Overall, the best I’ve found in NYC. Now if only they had a GYN associated with them.

Yes, as the other reviewers noted, I agree: their front office was chaotic and disorganized. The waiting room was a complete mess. A woman almost attacked me in the waiting area, perhaps cantankerous from the wait.
But most importantly I want to let others know about the lack of professional advice that my wife and I were given. After the test was confirmed, we were put into a (broom closet?) room with an assistant who showed us how to use an epi pen. We all three awkwardly stood there without any elbow room to speak of, while she hastily showed us how to use the epi pen, giggling and chewing gum. Fun!
In light of all the information, recent studies, etc, you figure an Allergy Doctor would have a bit more to say than: «Yep, your kid has a nut and peanut allergy. Goodbye!»
But this is all I got from Dr Erstein.
More recently I called them to request an emergency refill of epi-​pens and the office was closed. I left a message with their answering service who herself considered it urgent. It’s been a week and they still haven’t returned my phone call.
i’ll go elsewhere to my address allergy needs, doc (quack?).

It was a lovely surprise to receive a call from Dr. Cascya Charlot (owner/​medical director) the morning after my visit. She expressed her sincere concern and desire to provide the best care her knowledge and ability could yield and I could tell she really enjoys her line of work.
I greatly appreciated the time she took to speak with me, mentioning recent research studies related to my concerns and even following up by sending me a list of the allergens tested by the skin prick exam as well as a link to a recent study. I found her to be very helpful and reassuring.
Although there is not much concrete evidence found in the most current research regarding my concerns, at no point did I feel like she dismissed them due to a lack of answers. It’s perfectly alright with me if an area in medicine is still being studied and a doctor cannot provide solid answers yet. I think that’s exactly why science and research continue to help us make new discoveries in hopes that one day we can answer tough questions. Dr. Charlot proved to be a true detective and scientist with a personable and good-​natured vibe.

Every interaction with the support staff at this facility has made me very hesitant to come back for long term allergy shot treatment.
Repeated calls and messages to the office are unanswered. Prescriptions are incorrect (I had expressed concern about certain generic medications not working to my doctor, which the nurses put in anyways without looking at any prior notes), and every person I speak to on the phone gives me completely different office hours.
There is zero consistency. I literally do not even know what time I am supposed to show up, because I get a different answer from each person I speak to.
Seriously this place. Get your shit together.

After an initially pleasant experience with the Dr. Erstein, I had some frustration reaching their administrative staff. I have since been contacted by them, and they went above and beyond to address my frustration. I appreciate that. I would recommend them.

When I went to get allergy tested, they were very nice, especially the doctor. If I could give another half-​star for that I would. I don’t know if they’re always that busy or not, but it was chaotic. Every time I’ve called (for the appointment, or trying to reach the billing people), the administrative people have been disoriented or distracted.
It’s been over a month, and I had to call and ask if they’ve submitted the claim to my insurance because it wasn’t showing up and I needed the documentation. When they found my record they told me that the billing department is running about a month behind. They were weirdly defensive about it («well didn’t you get a receipt when you were here» …that’s not how insurance works…).
I have to admit I’ve never been to an allergist before, so I don’t know, maybe this place is normal. But I’m glad I don’t have allergies after all so I don’t have to go back.

I saw DR Erstein and he is fantastic. He listens with concern and I didn’t feel rushed at all. He has great bedside manner and his staff is wonderful also. The wait time wasn’t bad. I did my co pay and was seen by the Dr right away. The location is very convenient also, it’s right next to the train.
If you need an allergist Dr Erstein is your guy.

I took my 2-​year-​old son to see Dr. Erstein at the Grand Army office for a comprehensive skin prick test. The support staff was really terrific — someone helped me store our stroller, and we were put into an examining room right away. The room had toys and a TV. Two medical techs performed the test, working together to get it done as fast as possible. My son got a lollipop once it was over. Dr. Erstein was reassuring. He is a good listener. I recommend taking young children here if you need to have them tested.

I have gone to Allergy and Asthma Care of Brooklyn a few times now and have had very positive experiences each time. Considering how unbalanced most healthcare experiences go, this is very impressive.
Support staff: quite competent, friendly, organized, really contribute to a better overall experience.
Wait time: Not zero but I never felt like I waited excessively long
Physician experience: Dr. Erstein is excellent! He really listens and takes time to get a good history. He did a great job addressing my concerns and I really appreciated that he can say when he isn’t sure — too often physicians say they’re sure and they end up being wrong. He seems very knowledgable and I felt like he only ordered tests that are clinically useful. He didn’t make me feel rushed and he has a great bedside manner, which is why the best NYC physician experience that I’ve had was at this allergy clinic (I went to the Grand Army location).

The service is great — the staff is very pleasant and accommodating in general. I was attended to by Dr. Erstein (who I really liked) on my three visits. However, when I had a complaint regarding the method in which I received my lab results, Dr. Charlot responded to me immediately and remedied the situation. I truly appreciated how attentive she was. I’m even more grateful for the fact that now the office gives patients the option of receiving test results over the phone, which saves time and money if you don’t particularly need to see the doctor.

Over the past few years I developed allergy-​like symptoms — itchy eyes & nose, dry throat, etc — twice a year in the spring and fall. Finally it got so irritating that I decided to get them checked out. A friend highly recommended this clinic and although it was a train ride away from Manhattan, I figured it could be worth it to get some answers. I called the day of and was able to be accommodated with an appointment — a minor miracle these days. Dr. Charlot and her staff were very welcoming and put me at ease while administering a skin prick test to test for various allergies. In a short time they were able to tell me what I was allergic to and how to cope with my symptoms. It was a great experience — I only wish I had gone sooner!

I wish I could go back in time so I could see Dr. Erstein sooner. I’ve been suffering from seasonal allergies all of my life and I now feel like I have a plan to help get them under control. Dr. Erstein is so on top of his game that you might think he’s a psychic. After glancing at my test results, he said to me that he bet my allergies had gotten really rough about a week ago. And that was EXACTLY when they started to act up. It turns out that he keeps up with daily pollen counts and knew that my particular allergens had risen around that time. That’s pretty awesome. I only wish that his office staffs’ professionalism was as highly commendable. I found the front desk staff to be extremely curt and, at one point, two of the staff argued with each other over which room I should sit in while an assistant performed a second test. At the end of the day, Dr. Erstein’s professionalism more than makes up for this but it really is a shame that such an A player is surrounded by a B team.

I highly recommend Dr. Charlot. She is smart, patient, and she knows her stuff. If you are suffering from any allergies, and you live in BK, there is no need to make the trip to Manhattan for high quality care. To boot, she and her staff are genuinely nice!

So, I am currently seeing her at the Williamsburg office. She is only there on Wednesdays & this is super convenient for me, because I live right in the area. All I have to say is she is truly amazing.
I thought there was no curing my allergies. I am virtually allergic to everything out there. Pollen, Cats, Dust etc. and unfortunately I am living with a cat! My last allergist told me I could not get shots because I would die! She has been treating me for over a month now, and I have never felt better. I look forward to seeing her weekly.
She is very sweet, and so is her staff. She will find a solution to your allergy miseries. I guarantee it. I wouldn’t recommend going anywhere else.

I’ve been coming here for a little over a year now. I had really bad chronic allergies and this is the first place I came to. They did their test on me and it showed I was allergic to almost everything. I started allergy shots soon after. Fast forward to today, and I can pet my cats and have them lay all over me without having an itching attack. Most pollen doesn’t bother me now unless it’s blooming for the first time in the season. The Staff and the doctors here are really friendly and know what they are doing. They are more than happy to answer any of your questions and the office is nicely decorated and clean.

I’m not a patient but I accompany my friend to her allergy shot appointments, so I have an opinion. If I needed an allergist I would definitely come here. My friend has been seen by both Dr. Charlot and her staff doctor (an employee rather than an associate), and is very satisfied with both of them, as well as with the staff. They’ve been smart, caring and helpful. Everyone is attentive and cautious about adverse reactions to the shots. During the regularly-​scheduled blocks of time when shots are given (Mon 3 – 6 /​Tue 12 – 3; 4 – 7 /​Wed 10 – 2:30 /​Thu 12 – 2; 3 – 7) there may be a full waiting room, but every effort is made to move things along efficiently and everyone is seen in a timely manner. The waiting room is comfy, with leather furniture (sofa, loveseat, high-​back chairs, padded benches), gentle lighting, paintings, magazines and a TV that usually shows News 12 Brooklyn. An air purifier is always running. The office is a few feet from subway access, and metered parking is easy to find.

Interestingly, Dr. Charlot describes herself in LinkedIn as the Owner of the above named medical practice. Given that she’s the only doctor there, what else would you think? Doesn’t «owner» kind of cheapen the idea of a medical practice? What do I know? I didn’t go to Harvard Medical School. She did. Then she did her residency at NYU. This is of course highly impressive. Her office is right on Brooklyn’s Grand Army Plaza. And forgive me, women readers, but on top of all this, the woman is HOT.
If you’re going in to be checked for allergies or asthma, that sort of thing, expect two appointments. It takes that long for them to prick about 70 needles into your arms that check you for specific allergies. It’s no big deal, unless you think it is, in which case it’s a nightmare.
Now here’s the weird thing. On my first visit, I saw Dr. Charlot, and she gave me a great deal of time. Now and then she cut me off if my answers were running long. I found her very pleasant to look at and speak with. But she is not a holistic doctor, in that she doesn’t want to understand your life as a whole – she wants to get the spectrum of your symptoms only. She didn’t do the arm-​sticking. A young woman in blue scrubs did that part. She was maybe a nurse, or a tech. After waiting 20 minutes, I had no reactions, so Dr. Delectable gave me some samples and told me to take them and come back in a week.
When I did, I was the only patient in the office during the whole 45 minutes or so I was there. I was seen by a physician’s assistant. She was up on my case. I asked her where the gorgeous and brilliant doctor was, and she told me she was «in her office doing whatever». The PA stuck me this time, went and gave the doctor the results, came out with a prescription and instructions and wished me well. She was very pleasant. As I got up to leave I could see that the entire office was empty, and that the door to Dr. Charlot’s office was open. The PA walked into her office as I was putting my coat on, and the door literally slammed shut before I passed by.
Now here’s my point. Yeah, I thought this doctor is a babe. But I never let her see it. I was appropriately pleasant with her. So the deal was that on my second visit, I, or any other patient, wasn’t going to get to say hello or get any slightest bit of bedside manner from Dr. Charlot. Because she’s the Owner. You know? I’ve never heard of such a thing, and it stinks.
So, medically, I guess this is a good allergy office. But whether a patient can talk to the doctor when they want to, well, that’s open to question. BTW, her name is pronounced shar-​low, not Charlotte.

I am so grateful to have been treated by Dr, Cascya Charlot and her staff. They provide some of the best care available.
I’ve had allergies for as long as I can remember – but always manageable with over-​the-​counters until last week when I woke up with eyes so red, eye drops couldn’t relieve them and I looked perpetually stoned.
I made the appointment (easy) and met with Dr. Charlot a few days later. She was thorough, sincere, knowledgeable, and when I reacted poorly to a skin prick test, both she and her staff were kind and caring (a pillow, tv, a fan, Zyrtec, hydrocortisone cream). She was also able to prescribe me drops that cleared my eyes and offer tips on an additional allergy I never knew I had.
I would refer this office to ANYONE suffering from allergies.
