Almac Hardware

I use this store once in a while when I need to purchase basic tools. Generally, it is clean and well stocked. Having said that, avoid that dude named Sal. He lacks basic communication skills and has a bad attitude. Customer service is a must for any successful business.

It may be a convenient store but for basic tools id suggest .99¢ store! & if you’re lucky and you ask the right HELPFUL employee they will help you find the things you need! Otherwise if you have bad luck like me lol you’ll end up asking the wrong person for pliers & they will sell you something else! Terrible customer service! Especially from that white man who stands by the entrance counter & wont help you when you ask for help but will send you to someone else & give you a terrible attitude. So unnecessary! I just want some tools GEESH!

I love shopping at this local neighborhood hardware store. I have been shopping here with my parents when I was a child, and continue to shop here as an adult. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Whenever I come in with a question, the staff does whatever it takes to answer my question to the best of their ability. Their paint selection is amazing with many different colors to choose from. There is even a special machine that can match a color from a sample. The prices are affordable and are fair which makes me continue to come back. With great prices and great staff it makes it much easier to find things you need and also find things to do simple do it yourself projects. Anything that is not in the store can easily be ordered for you, there is nothing they don’t have! Along with great service in the store, they also provide an incredible handyman service. Everything is done in a professional manner and will keep you happy. I would highly recommend for people to come shop here and to use their handyman service. If you are new to the neighborhood you should definitely stop by and give Almac a try.

Great location. Friendly service. Good selection. They have great monthly specials. The only drawback it that they are a bit high on certain items but quite reasonable on others. A nice alternative to the super stores!

Everyone should support their neighborhood businesses and i always go to the Newkirk Plaza Almac first for any home need and what I find is the personalized service where staff will walk you through how to do a self home repair job. I love it ! And if they don’t have an item (rarely) the staff will offer places near by where you can purchase it. Now that’s smart business and one of the many reasons I say Almac First!

This hardware store is in a super convenient location and has a little bit of everything. After a massive apartment renovation, I’ve stopped by this store at least once a week for nearly two years.
Why such a low score? Blame the manager, Sal, who seems to go out of his way to avoid interacting with me. I’ve watched him greet or help every male customer that has ever been in the store at the same time at me. I hate that this is an actual issue in 2014, but it is and so I can’t continue to support this business. My experiences here helps me to understand how terrible places like Home Depot have taken over the world. At least there I’m paying less and get better service.

This store is really well stocked and the service staff are all very friendly and helpful.
I am a little bothered by what seem like some very high prices. For example, I paid $ 5 for a plastic bag mattress cover which literally came off a giant roll, just a giant plastic bag which ripped as soon as I started pulling my mattress down my hallway.
But I’d go back. They’re nice people and I guess these could just be NY prices.

I haven’t lived in this neighborhood in years, but when it’s convenient, I stop by. They have a well-​curated selection of household items and are much more fully stocked than one would expect of a hardware store this size. The people who work here are polite and helpful, and the managers are go-​to guys if you have any questions about home improvement or hardware issues: they’re very knowledgeable and experienced. Newkirk Plaza is lucky to have them!

Fantastic hardware store, one of the few in the area. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
They’ve got all sorts of random stuff here: Gardening supplies, power tools, various interior/​exterior paints, and a really decent lighting section too.
I’ve never had a bad experience here, and in the rare event that they didn’t have the specific product I was looking for, they gave me options on where I could find it. Nice work!

I just moved to the neighborhood and one of the best things to experience is a friendly and helpful worker to help you during a tough transition time. The employees here, young and old, are very helpful and friendly. I’m relieved to see that this still exists so thank you, Almac.

I just moved here from San Francisco and quickly realized that in order to do any serious shopping (ie more than i can carry) I would need to purchase one of those small utility carts. I checked out some of the stores in my immediate neighborhood without success. I decided to take a walk down to Newkirk and couldn’t have been more pleased with the experience. Not only were the staff extremely helpful but they also had a good selection to choose from. I will definitely go back when I need more «hardware-​related» things.
