As someone who is extremely wary of dermatologists and prescriptions that make skin issues «disappear!», I have wanted someone who understands the connection between your body’s health and the state of the mind. Quyen is that person. She asks you the important questions — are you stressed, how are you eating, what is going on in your life that might be causing your skin to react in whatever way? In the past year I have begun to understand my skin in a way I never have, and learned time and time again how important self care is. Taking care of what is on the inside, especially in such a bustling city, will have a direct to what is on the outside. Quyen’s holistic practice, incredible knowledge of cruelty-​free and organic skin care products, and healing presence have put me at ease in my most stressful moments. She checks in with me, answers all my panicked questions, and an hour in a room with her is a meditative experience better than any full body massage. I suffer from depression and anxiety, and when my brain begins to let me down — it shows up on my face. Which makes me anxious all over again, because I feel embarrassed about my skin. Quyen has the ability to remind me to take space for myself, puts me at ease with her expertise, and relieves my impulse to give up and go to a dermatologist for an expensive and chemical «quick fix!» We cannot forget the mind body connection, and Quyen doesn’t let us. She goes above and beyond the duties of any aesthetician I’ve ever seen, and I am so grateful for her. If you want to start a lifelong relationship with good skin — starting from the inside out — go see this skin goddess. She is a bright gem among many lack luster stones.

This place really is a hidden gem. I am so happy I found this place and especially Quyen… She is amazing from the second you walk in, she took such great care of me and it was such a great facial with honest noticeable results. You can trust her as she knows her stuff… She gave such great tips and even make up recommendations… Love this place and looking forward to my next appointment.

It had been years since I last had a facial and coming to Aloha Skincare has shown me why I should never choose to wait that long again. My skin is fairly sensitive and very prone to blackheads and acne. Quyen did an exceptional job choosing the right facial for my skin while making sure to extract various trouble areas throughout my face. I had an amazing experience while at Aloha skincare, but it only got better the day after my facial. The organic peel left my skin absolutely radiant! I am extremely happy and thankful, will be coming here on the regular :)

Quyen is the best. I’ve struggled with problematic skin for years, and since seeing her, taking her advice and using the products she suggests, I can’t remember the last time my skin has looked so good. She genuinely cares about making my skin look and feel it’s best, as well as keeping it healthy, and that’s why I keep going back. Also, she goes the extra mile to make sure I’m comfortable, even though she has the softest touch when it comes to extractions. The last time I saw her she even gave me a little neck/​shoulder massage, which was great by the way. Confirmation through text and follow up texts after appointments are extremely convenient and thoughtful. Knowledgeable, friendly and her organic treatments work. I can’t say enough great things about Quyen, and I’m extremely thankful for her restoring my skin and self confidence.

I can’t speak for the facials here. However, I decided to have my eyebrows waxed after having an excellent manicure/​pedicure and what a mistake. I have very full brows and wanted to keep them that way… now they are the thinnest they’ve ever been and extremely lopsided too. I’m considering cutting my bangs that I recently grew out in order to cover up that part of my face.

I really enjoyed this, I’d never had a facial before but I can see the results afterwards. My skin looks clear, and it has cleared it up. I am going to book in monthly.

Aloha is my hidden secret to keep me looking young. Quyen has always taken great care of my skin. Im in the mid thirties and she keeps me looking as if I were in the mid twenties again. The place is small and cozy. Quyen has a very soft hand so when she does extractions its not painful at all vs other places.
You should check this place out. Ask for Quyen pronounced Queen.

Truly — what a GEM!!! After seriously spraining my ankle and not wanting to hop over to the Northside like I usually would, I literally suri’d «closest nail salon» and Aloha was the first to come up. After going through a hair salon that confusingly doesn’t seem exactly affiliated with Aloha, I ended up in the back with Maya immediately seeing to me. I was ushered in and safely seated off my crutches to the BEST mani pedi I’ve gotten in some time. Maya is AWESOME!!! In addition to just doing such a thorough job on my nails, she even added some therapeutic oils to the water for my suffering little foot. She said she doesn’t really do nails that much, but with the attention she gave, I’ll definitely come back for my skin care needs, as well. Thanks again, Maya!

This place is a gem. I always get manicures with Maya and she makes me feel so at peace when I’m having the worst day.
I decided to get a facial with Maya yesterday. Best facial I’ve had in a while. She uses best products and even did a little extra treatment on my eyes as a bonus.
The store front is a salon, but as you make your way to the back you reach a peaceful sanctuary.
Maya has such great energy and such a peace about her. I swear when you come out of Aloha you look and feel amazing.
I am one of the girls who wheres makeup every single day … and after my facial I havent worn makeup in two days.

A few months before my wedding I knew I wanted to get my skin into tip top shape. What bride wants to walk down the aisle with dull skin?! Luckily, I’ve known Quyen since I was a kid and for as long as I can remember, she has the most gorgeous skin. I went for my first facial three months before the wedding and I noticed a difference with my skin. It helps that the products smell great! Friends aside, she was really professional and knowledgable. She took the time to explain each product prior to application. She even recommended products for me to use at home and she was not pushy with purchasing.
For any bride that is looking to revive your skin before the big day, you will not be disappointed! It’s been five months since my wedding and I’m still going to Quyen for facials.

I had a great pedicure here. I have very dry feet and she really took care treating them. 2 weeks later my feet still feel great. The owner is very attentive, friendly and provides great service.
Down side: it’s not a big store front salon. It’s hidden behind a small hair salon, 1 chair and just the owner. Very private which is nice but not what I expected and I could never make a weekend girls date with my friends to go get pedicures here. But when I need a really excellent healing treatment it’s perfect.
Other downsides. They have a very small selection of colors. Next time ill bring my own bottle.
Last note: the phone number is her daughters cell not the salon land line. If you don’t get an answer you don’t need call over and over. She will call you back.

Eczema oh Eczema — You are my worst enemy!
I’ve always had it as a child growing up, but never covered my face the way it did the last year or so. Granted Kimmie already had my benefit of the doubt and vote of confidence as we were friends prior — if you look at HER skin… She’s her own greatest advertisement — dewey, bright and baby smooth skin!
Due to the Eczema — my face was red/​peeling/​flaky/​dry/​scaly and painful. Due to the moisturizers and topical steroids I had to use to control it, I had outbreaks of pimple/​blackheads/​white heads.
Although we are friends, during our sessions, she did not forewent her professionalism. Inquired in detail about known allergies, recommended products (without being pushy) and most importantly — cared. After every single session, my skin revived a little by little. Even though I can’t be treated by Kimmie daily, the products she recommends have proven to be effective and left my skin soft even in my own care. I won’t be going to anyone else — I’ll tell you that much :)

It’s a hair salon in the front and she’s situated in the back so walk on in, it’s worth it!
I’ve been going to Maya for years now and she is by far the best person I’ve gone to for waxes in New York — probably ever. Her new spot is exceedingly clean and very private. Although it’s in the back of the hair salon, she is closed off and it’s more so a business within a business.
Her prices are right for what you get and I really just like her as a person. She’s kind and I always love seeing her.
I haven’t had her manicures but her facials are incredible as well. She only uses natural products and uses extreme care with her clients.

I came for a facial, I’ll go back for more Maya. As everyone is saying, she’s an amazing woman with an amazing story. During the facial (which was fantastic) she answered all my questions about her life and journey and and we shared a special connection. My face feels great, smells great and more importantly my soul feels great. I thought I was getting was just an impromptu facial but it turns out I got something a lot more. Do I recommend coming here? Of course. Even more so I recommend getting to know this incredible woman even more.

What a GEM! Maya, the owner, is so caring and amazing. My boyfriend got me a facial massage for Valentines Day and I am obsessed since then.

I went to Aloha to get a brazilian wax about a month ago, my first ever. I was extremely nervous and the owner (whose name I forgot) took care of me. Not only did she do an excellent job but made me feel so comfortable and was just as warm and sweet as it gets during the really uncomfortable and awkward procedure. She made the experience of having my cha-​cha hairs ripped out of my skin a pleasant experience! Imagine that. The job was $ 65. I don’t know where that falls in the pricing of bikini waxes, if its a lot or a little or average. But I wouldn’t take a discount from lifebooker or any of those places after my experience at Aloha, because of the great experience I had. I would highly recommend this place to any of my friends.

Aloha is the best. It is a bit pricier than some of the other nail salons and «spas» in the South Williamsburg/​Greenpoint area, but you get what you pay for.
Maya, the owner, is one of the kindest people I’ve ever known. Even if I don’t have enough money for her amazing facial, I’ll go there to get my nails done. Basically, I pay $ 10 for a manicure just to hang out with her. She is on another spiritual level than most spa owners. I truly believe she heals people. I’ve seen her results. Mostly her clients with acne problems. They trust her and keep coming back because she prescribes (and sells) organic creams that really work. She really cares about her clients.
I love their pedicure. No one does it better. And Maya’s facials are the best (and I HATE getting facials). She makes it enjoyable. First she’ll steam your face so that extractions go quickly. She is a master at this. Next is a wonderful hand/​arm/​shoulder/​neck massage. The best part about it is that you never leave Aloha with red skin. I don’t know what she uses, some sort of cooling mud mask, but it’s amazing. I get complemented every time I’ve gone to Aloha– within hours friends are all like, «You MUST tell me the name of the make-​up you are using these days!» When I tell them I’m not wearing any they don’t believe it!
Aloha is running a special right now! $ 50 for a full hour deep tissue massage. I treated myself to this massage the other day and I am glad I did. i forget the woman’s name (not Maya) but it was seriously the best massage I’ve EVER gotten. Ever.
