Could not say enough nice things about the staff and the doctors here. Also clean facilities, nice waiting room and front desk staff.
We took our elderly kitty here when she was not feeling well, they saw us as a walk in. The doctor even gave follow up and refills over the phone.
Recently, we had to put our kitty down and the staff and Dr Werner could not have been more compassionate and thoughtful, talking us through the whole process. As a (people) doctor myself, I could not have have asked for caring and consideration as this clinic has given me, and am truly touched by Dr Werner’s bedside manner and warmth.
I would not think to bring pets anywhere else.

This morning I noticed my dog was missing a toenail. I was really worried but luckily animal kind got me in right away. We hurried over and the doctor checked him out. Luckily everything was fine and it was healing fine. Since it was quick appointment the doctor didn’t even charge us. It was a great experience

Love this place. Clean, efficient, and everyone I encountered was friendly and very good with my skittish kitty. Dr. Witherell was friendly, informative, and patient. This will definitely be my chosen vet practice, even though it’s pretty far from home — definitely worth the trip.

I brought my fur ball into AK for his yearly check-​up. The staff is extremely kind and compassionate. Service was great, they have Sunday hours which makes the visits very convenient. The examination by Dr. Kosik was thorough. The facility itself is modern, clean, and run very professionally. I recommend them highly, five meows from the cat.

When I became a puppy mom earlier this year I asked various friends about vet recommendations. Animal Kind kept coming up so I decided to give the place a try for our 3 month old puppy to get his vaccines and check up.
On our first visit we were late because of traffic on Eastern Parkway. I called Animal Kind 3 times to keep pushing the appointment back. The person I talked to on the phone was extremely understanding and gave us new times that worked for us. When we eventually arrived, we entered to a clean, bright and welcoming facility. All the staff seemed to instantly fall in love with my puppy and showed him so much love.
Our Doctor, Dr. Morehead, was so sweet and extremely knowledgable. He was patient with answering all the questions we had as new pup owners. We decided that we would make Dr. Morehead our primary vet so he’s seen our puppy on multiple occasions, regular check ups and the unfortunate emergencies.
This is a vet that you can trust your precious pets with and one that I would recommend to any pet owner.

This animal hospital by far is the best in Brooklyn, the receptionists (especially Erica) has been such a sweetheart, I have been going to Animal Kind a little over a year now, an LOVE it. Dr. Moorehead (not sure if the spelling is correct) is such a great Doctor ! my little girl gets excited just by me saying his name. I woud not waste my time looking for the right place to bring your companion Animal Kind is the place to go HANDS DOWN ! Such a relief to have found a vet who cares! I have been a dog owner for years and currently have a new puppy and when it became obvious that she had gotten into something and we needed help fast — we found this place and got in late on a Saturday last minute. They are so helpful and accommodating and all of the veterinarians there are equally amazing! So grateful to have found them!

I’ve taken my two cats to Animal Kind three times now, and each has been a great experience for all of us. My choice to take my fur babies here was really made by AK’s ability to book same-​day appointments at convenient times for someone who works 9 – 5 in Manhattan, after having called other vets that closed much earlier and had wait times of up to a week for an appointment. We’ve seen Dr. Frydenborg, Dr. Stronger, and Dr. Witherell, all of whom were very kind and helpful. The vet techs and assistants who have helped out have also been wonderful, and I’ve only had good experiences with front-​desk staff from appointment scheduling through check-​out. If having the same doctor is important to you, I’m sure you can arrange it, but I’m very glad that all three doctors we’ve seen have been great and obviously did their homework on our cats’ previous visits, which has been more than enough for me. AK’s facilities are minimalistic and clean, and I’ve never experienced wait times longer than 5 – 10 minutes or crowded waiting rooms.
The pricing can be steep — the standard diagnostic exam starts at around $ 65 or $ 50 for a follow-​up, and my bills have consistently been in the $ 125-​$ 150 range for pretty minor issues — but this is New York City (read: everything is expensive here) and all of the procedures ordered have seemed at least practical and logical, often with the ability to opt out of those that weren’t considered absolutely necessary. I would definitely recommend asking for the itemized receipt after your visits to keep track of what has been done and get an idea of how much every aspect of your visit cost, and for the reminder notes they add to the bottom about when your pet (s) will need their next vaccines/​exams/​etc. Overall, I’d highly recommend Animal Kind for my fellow overly-​concerned pet owners in Brooklyn, especially if your schedule tends to run outside of the hours of most other vets!

I was cat-​sitting for a friend who was out of town; her cat had been losing weight for a while and she took her to several vets who found nothing wrong with her. When her owner went on vacation, I finally had to take her in because she got even sicker in my care. During this cat’s first visit to Animal Kind, they FINALLY did bloodwork, which came back abnormal but at least allowed us to explore treatment options. When I had to hospitalize the cat and bring in her sister for the blood transfusion donation, they took good care of both cats overnight. The staff are friendly and the doctors are patient and helpful.
I would dock half a star because when the cat was very bad, the doctor took a few hours to contact the owner to tell me what to do with her; but they were so understanding and caring that I couldn’t even be mad! They are a busy practice, what can they say? The fact that they FINALLY were able to diagnose the cat (mind you this was the third veterinary practice she’s been to) indicates that they are on top of their stuff. I’ve spoken with Dr. Morehead and Dr. Frydenborg, both of whom have been incredibly responsive and helpful in saving this cat’s life even as we had trouble contacting her owner.

Very lovely staff from doctor to volunteers to receptionist. Every one was nice. Clean facilities. My cat’s vets diagnosed the problem immediately and the surgery was a success. The charges were fair-​priced and they worked with my insurance provider without any issue.
This place has compassion, knowledge and trust. I didn’t feel like they were pulling a fast one like many other places. Animal Kind is honest and I feel safe leaving my pet there if I need to. The vets eagerly gave us all the information we needed in person and by phone. Everything was out on the table. They also have a 24 hour emergency service which is a really good thing to have.
When you find a good vet, that vet is for life. If my cat is happy then she’ll be going here for years to come.

I had such a wonderful experience — great, clean facility, warm and friendly staff and super knowledgeable doctor.
My dog had a very bad reaction to some treats she’s been eating — soft stool with fresh blood one day, black, watery diarrhea the next and of course, some vomiting. Needless to say I was super panicked since her condition seemed to worsen. Unfortunately, my usual vet clinic was overbooked and they were near closing when I called asking to come in for an emergency. They said they couldn’t take me at all and referred me to a nearby emergency facility that had poor reviews.
I looked all over Unilocal and thanks to the great reviews, found this and immediately called them. Even though they were closing in 1 hour (regular services b/​c it turns into an ER after hours till 10pm), they found me an open slot. I drove all the way from Queens in horrific traffic, 20 min. late to the appointment and they were so understanding.
The wait time wasn’t too bad at all and every staff member was super helpful. At the end of the visit (luckily, nothing as severe as I thought), one of the ladies at the front desk overheard me saying that my dog threw up in the backseat of the car and offered up a towel for me to take.
I may just switch vet clinics thanks to this experience!

I have rushed my dog (was scrcatched by an evil stray cat) and was immediately put at ease the counter staff and techs. Lovely people. also came to my rescue when I pulled an abandoned newborn kitten in bad shape from a construction site. Just beautiful people with beautiful souls. God Bless!

I’ve seen several good doctors here, but Dr. Salas keeps me loyal to Animal Kind. I’ve taken my dogs to her for twelve years– I trust her advice, she is so kind and understanding, she’ll personally call and follow-​up when needed, and dogs love her. Even my last dog who’d scream and snarl and try to bite the staff— I always had the feeling that Dr. Salas saw the best in him and understood my love for that quirky little chihuahua.

THIS is where you should take the animals you share your life with. Why? Let me list the steps taken for the removal of a tumor on my dog’s head:
1. Pre-​op office visit for evaluation and treatment plan.
2. Tumor excision
3. Isoflurane anesthesia
4. Pre-​anesthetic drugs
5. Anesthetic induction
6. Anesthetic maintenance
7. Anesthetic monitoring
8. IV fluid administration
9. IV catheter placement
10. Pain relief meds post surgery
11. E-​collar to keep area unscratched
12. Carprofen
13. Biopsy of tumor
And after each item, the initials of the person responsible was penciled in.
I don’t know about you, but I would be very happy receiving that level of service (except for the collar). And I’m all kinds of happy to be able to give it to my dog.

My dogs are my best friends. I’m pretty serious when it comes to their health and who handles them. I completely trust Animal Kind to give us the best care in the area. I’ve taken both my dogs here for various reasons, mainly annual check ups and shots/​heart worm meds/​etc, but have also used them to help diagnose some more serious problems. The vets are very patient, non judgmental, honest (they don’t press unnecessary tests or meds), and thorough. I’m usually very wary of anyone in the western medical field, but I feel confident in this vet practice.
The front desk staff is great, very short wait times, last minute appointments are a breeze.
Bonus, they have groomers on site! Fantastic women who can handle the most water-​phobic pit mix. :)
As for their pricing, it’s very fair for the neighborhood. I see a lot of reviewers complaining about the prices, but I’m not sure why. Let’s stop pretending we don’t pay $ 2400 for a 1 bedroom! It’s Park Slope!
The vet I see always discusses the prices for tests/​meds/​services before doing anything… much appreciated on a nanny salary. :)

I am a big fan of this practice. I first came here after hours for an emergency visit with Dr. Moorehead who is funny, calm, amazing… and I was so impressed that it became my regular vet. They are very reasonable for emergency visits compared to other animal hospitals.
I now use Dr. Warner as my regular vet, and I adore her– she is genuinely concerned for my elderly dog and has totally worked with me, and tried to come up with a treatment plan that I could afford.
I agree with other reviewers, I have rarely waited and the staff are great– but what I like the most is how THOROUGH the vets I’ve seen here are–
I noticed that most people giving high reviews are like me– a tad neurotic about their pets health. I just always feel that they are up to date on current research and thinking holistically about whatever mystery is ailing my dog.

After my fourth visit with my dog Opie, I figured it’s time to write a review.
Every trip seems to be JUST SO EASY. Minimal wait times assuming no weekends. It’s super great to have the same doc each time too, which can easily be arranged.
Dr. Witherell has performed accurate diagnostics and vaccines for Opie, and he seems to fall under her spell and cooperate.
Highly recommended to all dog owners looking for affordable vet in slope.

I love the vets at Animal Kind. They have always been knowledgeable, responsive to questions & concerns & compassionate.
That being said, AK must be under new management because their policies have made my life with geriatric cats VERY stressful.
AK charges exorbitant fees for medications. (They once charged me $ 6 per syringe of .02ml of a drug when I know the entire bottle — which contains about 12 weeks worth of that amount, costs them a mere $ 15– this for a cat that will need it everyday for the rest of his life). Because of the expense at AK & because I have cats with chronic conditions, I am forced to find more reasonable prices for their medications online. Now AK will NOT work with online pharmacies by confirming my prescriptions. This would be akin to your eye doctor refusing to work with1800contacts.
I think this is unconscionable. Those of us that are trying to take care of our animals with chronic conditions should not be penalized for trying to find a more convenient/​economical way to do so.
If I didn’t love my vet so much, I’d have ditched AK a while ago. I feel bad for the vets who are doing their best to take care of their furry clients (and their human caretakers) & are caught in between doing the right thing & AK’s insane new policies.
As far as I can see, this new management only cares about squeezing their clients for every last dime & it is ultimately the animals that suffer.

I have been going to animal kind for every pet I ever had since I was a young girl. My vet has changed throughout the years. I have two dogs, and a rabbit. The three of my pets see Dr. Salas. She is absolutely knowledgable, lovely, patient, and understanding. She has been my vet for about almost 6 years now. The prices here are a little over-​priced. However, I trust my vet, and that’s a great feeling. The receptionists at the front desk always complete tasks at a fast pace, and my Dr. never runs late and sees us right on schedule.
They used to have a scale in the waiting room where I was able to weigh my pup but they moved it towards the back. I suppose this was easier for the staff. I recommend only Dr. Salas.
