I am so bummed that this place is closed. Some of my best nights, no ALL of my best nights, when living in Brooklyn are somehow connected to this bar and my BFF. I tried to take my husband here a few years ago when we were in town but just remembered now to post my homage. They had somewhat decent food and the best crowd in Brooklyn. I can’t even count how many awesome people I met here, how welll we were treated by the bartenders, and how many mornings I spent with a pitcher of water on my fire escape the next morning but it didn’t matter, because the hangover was always worth it. We never once had a bad night here. Decent pub grub, awesome juke box, the game where you spot the differences in the pictures, board games, bar bets, drunken conversations in the bathroom, and I believe I kissed two boys here — one an old college friend and one the best looking cop I ever saw. Ah, my twenties…

I had not visited the part of Brooklyn where Annie’s Full Moon Saloon was for a number of years and this week while I was on jury duty I wandered down that way in the hope to enjoy one of their burger or conventional bar finger food items for lunch. When I reached the space where it was I was heartbroken to not only find it gone but also totally redone and a place that no longer resembled this popular haunt of mine. I instantly reflected on the good times and good fun that I had in the place and how it helped keep friends in regular touch with each other no matter how busy our workaday world found us. The beers were always cold, the well drinks always potent and the food to be reckoned with. Thank you for the good times and memories Annie’s Full Moon, I shall miss you very, very much.

If you want to people-watch on Montague Street while you eat, this is a good place to do it. The outdoor seating area accomodates a fair amount of people, the service is fast, and the portions are gigantic. A great place to go to grab a lunch or a brunch.
