Appellate Div Supreme Court

A pinnacle of decadence in the judicial system of NY. This particular courthouse serves three very important functions: (1) Hearing appellate arguments… something I would hope to do someday (2) Admitting the incoming class of new lawyers in the Second Department of NY; this includes the counties of Queens, Brooklyn, and Nassau… this was me! (3) Administering disciplinary measures on those who break the ethical rules… something I hope I never do.
At any rate, the facilities here are top notch and far less hectic than those seen in the Supreme Court or the Civil Court. The metal detectors are even less sensitive (my belt and watch don’t set off the damn thing). The carpeting on the courtroom floor and the wooden finish on everything in the room makes the place feel like an old school library or church. The guards also enjoy messing with the guests (in a friendly spirited manner).
Basically, this is the bizarro version of the aforementioned courthouses in the first sentence of the previous paragraph.
