Great selection of classes. Been here for a few and my favorite is definitely the Saturday morning one with Colleen at 8:20. The class has a great ambiance about it and I definitely love the meditation style that is mixed with the movements. Incorporates a lot of stretching with strength too and definitely mixes different kinds of movements. Perhaps less classic yoga some of the time, but still great. Highly recommend and of course easily accessible!

I will blame it on my own bad timing of signing up for classes here — the studio feels barren and completely neglected. In yoga, you spend lots of time looking up to the ceiling — here is what is wrong with this: *The light shades all have dead bugs inside them *a couple of the lamp shades are completely soiled *the planter installations are all dead planter installations *the walls have absolutely nothing to focus on for steadiness normally would not be an issue but, in Yoga you need something to focus on when doing poses — with the lights dimmed, I found there was nothing to focus on for«stillness», they really need to have focal point on the plain green wall… how about gold lotus flowers printed all over the wall(easy to do with a sponge cut in a lotus flower shape and gold latex paint from any craft store) ***The 5th avenue studio needs an overhaul BIGTIME*** The instructor, Paula for my first class had an aggressive vibe — just… not calm and friendly and helpful — the adjustments on my arm reach felt more of a grab and yank… I walked out of there stressed out and sad. Thank goodness there are two other locations to take classes because I won’t be returning to this location on 5th avenue… until someone pays some attention to the place… not very Namaste in there.

I’ve been coming here for the past two weeks and it’s really been an enjoyable experience. I was a bit hesitant at first because I’ve only done yoga twice before coming here, and was concerned that the class would be too advanced. I tend to go to the«basic» classes on the weekends. All of the instructors I’ve had have been extremely helpful, and most importantly they let you go at your own pace! Also mat rentals are only $ 2

All I can say is the attitude here is pretty much what is happening all around this part of Brooklyn. You gotta pay the bigger price for access. Brooklyn is full of wonderful donation based yoga studios that are on sliding scales. This one feels corporate. I had some issues with cost here and decided to go elsewhere. In other words… I do not feel that Namaste at Area Yoga for my classes.

Definitely one of the best yoga studios in the area. They offer a wide variety of classes from restorative, beginners to advanced. The studio is specious and has a lot of greenery on the inside that makes up, for me, the lack of natural light. I’ve only had great instructors here, who are informative, attentive and competent. I highly recommend!

I attended Jesse Pournaras’ prenatal yoga on Sunday which was a nice mix of flow and relaxation. We were a class of 8 and there was plenty of room for everyone. Jessee is very warm and welcoming. I would definitely taker her class again. I haven’t been to other classes yet but am excited to try them out. Overall, great local studio!

This is a great studio in the park slope /prospect heights area. The classes are interesting and varied and their prices for classes and passes are very reasonable. I always take Miya’s 7pm class which is perfect for after work. Would definitely recommend if you are a new practitioner or a seasoned one.

Area is not only the closest yoga studio to me, but it’s also the most affordable. $ 15 for a drop-in is unrivaled; it’s also on ClassPass. I’ve enjoyed almost every Open and Intermediate/Advanced class I’ve taken, but my favorite class so far has been with Nityda. The studio is on the smaller side, but it’s never crowded. There are never more than 5 people. They also have classes as late as 8:25pm during the weekdays, which is super convenient for me! I only wish they offered 6:30am classes so I could flow before work.

Such a great welcoming environment. Teachers are great especially Jennifer Burch. Class environment is not intimidating for beginners and yet intimate like a private class with friends. Highly recommended.
