Perfect thing to do on a cold winter day. It’s great place to take children to. My son who is 4 really enjoyed painting here. It can get a bit pricey. The customer service is good. My son loves coming to pick his things up and seeing the end result when they are all shiny.

As an after work outing, the mosaic tile class is a great way to unwind on a weeknight with coworkers. BYOB meant an abundance of wine, which was all good fun. I did want more options for things that I could put tiles on, as it seemed that they only had trivets and coasters as options.
The hardest part of the process is filling in the grout — which is the one thing they give little instruction on and send you home to do. I would have prefered to arrange tiles in the comfort of my own home, and done the messy grout in the store with guidance. Instead, I was sent home with a three sentence instruction sticker on a small tupperware container with powdered grout, and not even a sponge to apply the grout. I had to youtube video instructions on the process.
Maybe the painting class would have been more worth the money?

What a cool place and a good deal. I came here with my boyfriend to make some last minute Christmas gifts (and we were indeed last minute — coming in an hour before closing and on the last possible day to receive pottery by Christmas Eve). The girl working was incredibly nice, didn’t seem to mind that we came in late, and honored our constant indecision over paint colors and «just one more» requests. The prices were great — you can paint as much as you want for a $ 9 studio fee and pay per item you paint. They do the glazing and contact you when it’s ready, so you don’t have to hound them to find out when you can pick up your work. They had tons of things to choose from and the late night crowd was nice. It was a good place to relax, probably a cute date spot as well, and definitely good for kids (although I don’t have those). If you need a cool thing to do or a cool gift idea, check this place out.

I came here in July for my birthday with some friends. Its a small cozy space and the staff is super nice and helpful. No kids which was awesome and a crowd later in the day of 20’s-30’s. We were informed while sitting down with our pieces that it is BYOB. We would have defiantly taken them up on that if we didn’t just come from an unlimited brunch haha. We all picked out some fun pieces to paint and had a blast! Great place to come if you feel like getting into some creative/​crafty activities. I felt like a kid again :)

The store is a bit difficult to find, but is decorated in a cozy and cute style. Staff here are friendly and helpful. I have no art background but staff helped me out and I got a great work piece in the end. So don’t need to worry, just follow their instructions and draw whatever you like.
Just one note: if you plan to make something for your friend special day, plan at least two weeks ahead because they need 1 week to turn your art piece to a finished one.

Great place. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. However, my daughter had an minor accident and I was told you break it you buy it. Even though I didn’t see any signage to say as such.

This place is fun. Good date spot if you wanna do something more interesting and creative. Staff there are super helpful. My ugly painted spoon plate came out way better than I thought it would.

This place is awesome and is capable of handling all age groups. I took my 3 cousins aged 6 – 12 here and while they complained about how lame this would be, once we got there, they changed their tune. They told me it was the most fun they’ve had in a long time and it was pretty cool to see how their imaginations worked to create the color scheme they wanted. Some of the items can be a bit pricey based on their size but there are more affordable options. There was a $ 9 painting fee which includes unlimited paint and no time limit on our stay, Thank God for that because I’m sure we used a few bottles of paint and we were there for three hours!!! The lady working there was extremely helpful and never once seemed frustrated by our need for something every 20 – 30 min. The boys put 3 – 4 coats of paint on and wanted to make sure everything was perfect before firing. Besides ceramics, and mosaics they also offer pottery classes and tie-​dye workshops, and after 6pm I’m told it’s BYOB. What a great option. This is definitely a place I will visit again — can’t wait to try the stenciling and other accessories.

Bought a gilt deal for what I thought was going to be a mosaic class but ended up being a clay class! Owner, Ashley was super friendly and did a quick demo for our small group of 4. There was a grapefruit size ball of clay and you could basically let your imagination run wild… you could make anything you wanted.
Terrifying but exciting because I didn’t want to mess up. We each made very unique pieces and decided to go in totally different directions.
The studio was pretty large and had so many cute items to choose from of you wanted to paint something already baked.
I am excited to go back to paint it and see the finished product!

I lovelovelove pottery painting. I’ve gone pottery painting back home in Michigan, in Philadelphia, and now at Baked in Brooklyn. All of these places have been extremely similar in terms of experience and I would give all three places a 5 star rating regardless.
Baked is a really cute shop with a fairly large number of pottery pieces to choose from. When I visited last November, the paint fee was a flat rate of $ 7 /​person. According to the website, it’s now $ 9. Flat fees are awesome – this means you can use as many paints as you want and it’s only $ 9. There are some places that charge you by the number of colors you use. Avoid those at all costs, unless you know you’re going for only a few simple colors. A lot of times you’ll end up using more colors than you expect!
The place is a BYOB as well, so it makes for a cute date place if you wanna crack open a bottle of wine. My boyfriend and I came in for his birthday and I ended up painting a plate (cost about $ 30) and he painted this cute little shark piggy bank (around $ 20). We spent a couple of hours there, but that’s the best part about these places: no time limit! Come here early, stay all evening if you have to in order to perfect your masterpiece, but they don’t rush you at all.
I had to bother the workers a fair bit because I was using the squeeze bottles for finer painting, and a lot of them kept getting clogged so they had to wash the caps out for me. They were always friendly about it though, which was nice.
They also offer these cute little pottery pieces here that you can paint and attach to the side of a mug if you paint a mug. I haven’t seen these before, but they were so cute! It’s a separate pottery piece that you hang off the rim, but they were adorable.
They glaze and fire your product after you’re done and will email you when it’s ready. They typically say it will take a week to finish, but our pieces actually finished a couple of days ahead of schedule and I eagerly went back to pick up our finished products. They were treated with care and the staff was super friendly about how well our pieces turned out.
My boyfriend really enjoyed me treating him to pottery painting and he put a lot of effort into his little shark piggy bank. It’s a very low key and casual establishment, so do come here to paint some pottery and relax. They also offer a lot of different classes, but I haven’t attended any of those. So glad I found a pottery place like the ones I’m used to back home!

While I loved many things about the mosaic class I took here with my mom, it also left a LOT to be desired. The instructor in particular was the biggest disappointment. She seemed annoyed to be there and wasn’t enthusiastic at all! Most of the class (couples, moms/​daughters, friends) were interacting with each other and teaching each other techniques more than she did. When I asked for more mosaic tiles in a specific color, she seemed really bothered to have to go get them. She was basically on her phone counting down the minutes left until she could kick us all out.
Also — they were totally out of white grout (Yes, you have to GROUT IT YOURSELF LATER AT HOME!) and she casually mentioned that I should just take the tan or buy the white for «like $ 5 at Home Depot»… or come BACK TO THE STUDIO if I really wanted the white grout. Since I didn’t want to ruin my piece with tan grout, I went to Home Depot to get white grout. Lo and behold I check and the cheapest white grout was $ 12! And I’d already paid $ 45 for the class. So, now I’m stuck with an ungrouted mosaic and unwilling to make the trek back to Brooklyn to pick up the white grout. Or use the tan grout she handed out. And didn’t even instruct us how to use.
There are many great studios like this — pick another with employees that want to be there!

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Baked in Brooklyn. My daughter’s school has a fundraising Gala once a year to raise money for music, arts and recreational programs. Each class is to create an art piece to be auctioned at the Gala. I approached Ashley, the owner of Baked in Brooklyn, and asked if I might purchase a ceramic platter and paint kit from her shop, administer the art project at the school and return the platter to Baked in Brooklyn for the firing and baking process. She agreed to this request as she had done this kind of thing before with other schools. After purchasing the materials which totaled $ 77, I took the platter, did the art project with the kids in the school and returned the item, completely intact, with plenty of time to complete the baking process. Ashley phoned me on the day I was to pick up the platter and said it was not finished due to a kiln problem. She assured me it would be ready the next day. I arrived the next day to pick up the platter and again, Ashley said it was not ready. I reminded her that I needed it asap as the Gala was the next day and she told me to come back in an hour or so. I returned in an hour and she said all was fine, opened the kiln and reported that the platter had cracked. She first told me it cracked because she opened it early due to my deadline. After reminding her that I did not ask her to open the kiln early, she backtracked and said that I must have returned the platter with a crack in it. I reiterated several times that I delivered the piece intact. She refused to offer any sort of solution, knowing I had no choice but to take the flawed piece and try to make it work for the fundraising Gala. I asked for some kind of partial refund for the $ 77 I’d spent on the platter. She refused. I left the shop extremely disappointed. I couldn’t believe that Ashley was so dismissive considering this was for a school fundraising event. I would have been a loyal customer and promoted her shop. Now I’m writing a bad review of her shop on Unilocal.I will not do business with her in the future and will encourage my friends and colleagues to do the same.

Love, Love, Love! Awesome day to spend with the kids or girlfriends! Relaxing space and everything is straight forward and fun! Grab a bottle and go for some time to unwind. Its not only painting the also have different events going on throughout the weeks!

Love Baked in Brooklyn! I’ve been here 3 times with my best friend. It’s just really relaxing to paint some pottery, drink some wine (or water), hang out and catch up. The workers here are really nice and don’t pressure you to hurry up with your project. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere and just a fun thing to do. It’s really a great spot for anyone — kids, adults, you name it.

Came here just a few hours ago and it was such a blast!!! Very cute place tucked away in Williamsburg amongst cheese shops and yoga boutiques, Baked in Brooklyn is this tiny little arts and crafts space with a variety of activities to choose from. Tonight, Stefie and I enjoyed a mosaic class where we both crafted mosaic picture frames while sipping on wine we brought because this lovely establishment is BYOB. Yes, BYOB! That TOTALLY means bring your own booze and let the creativity begin!
It was a lot of fun and we met another friend duo while we were crafting away. A great night to spend with friends while doing something a little different. It was just a short ten minute walk from the L train and super easy to get to. Baked in Brooklyn is very clean and has other activities like painting ceramics. They give you a small intro on what to do when you first get there and after that the rest is pretty much up to you! I had such a great night here with my best friend and we cannot wait until we come back again! We would love to come back for mosaic night again and also to paint some ceramics. Thanks for having us tonight, we had a great evening!

Family: Great way to unplug and spend some quality time with the kiddies. I bought my 4 y/​o niece who choose and painted her ceramic princess. It’s time well spent letting their creative juices flow as there are NO lines in painting a figurine-​lol. The instructor, Jessie, starts you off with a palette of six water paints of your choice along with a variety of brushes, stencils and mini sponges (and smocks for the kids if needed) to aid in your creative works. They fire the kiln on Tues/​Thurs so it takes approximately one week for your work of art to be cooled and ready for pick-​up.
Adults: Ceramic painting and BYOB. Whats not to love. I’m gathering six of my girlfriends for a fun evening this fall for our own sip and paint and sip some more.

Since my daughter loves anything that involves painting or drawing and we live in the neighborhood we decided to check this spot out. I absolutely loved the fact you can just walk in, pick a piece and sit and paint. The girl that helped is out was super sweet and friendly. My daughter loved the princess piece she picked out and painted. They also have water and juice that you can purchase. We had a great time, and definitively will be back!

This is by far my favorite BYOB DIY arts & crafts HEAVEN. I will return again and again until I have painted enough [mismatched] pieces to host an entire dinner party.
I set up a girls day with three friends. We each purchased a Living Social deal for a pottery painting session, which covered the painting fee, with another $ 33 to apply toward ceramic pieces.
I called beforehand and was assured that we didn’t need to make a reservation. When we arrived on that Saturday afternoon, around 2pm, there were already two parties going on, with other painters here and there. It’s a tiny space (1 room), so I was worried that there wouldn’t be enough seating for us. However, the staff adjusted the seating arrangements so that my party had a table by the window.
Since my group was so indecisive about what colors we wanted to paint with, the staff provided us with three palettes with every color (basics, warm, and cool colors). Whenever we ran out of a paint color, we could get up and get a refill from the paints at the back of the studio.
We brought bottles of wine, and the staff provided us with the plastic cups to drink the wine. We stayed approximately 4hrs, and not once did we feel rushed to leave. It was an absolutely perfect activity to do with friends. The staff was graciously welcoming and professional, without being overbearing.
I’m looking into reserving the studio for a birthday get together. I’d highly recommend this studio over MAKE (in the city).

Baked is the perfect place to unwind. First off, it’s BYOB. Great place to spend a rainy day with some wine and paints. I have come here twice in the past 2 years and it has always been a great experience. Even if you have no artistic abilities like me, you can paint anything (mugs, plates, teapots, vases, etc) and you will be pleased. Be sure to paint a few layers if you want the colors to really stand out. So next time you find yourself with nothing to do on a rainy day, make a trip to Baked. You can spend hours here.
The only downside is the week long wait before you can pick up your pieces.
