Food is so great !! Had the lobster rolls to start which are amazing, and shared the skirt steak for dinner. My friend had the fried Mac and cheese balls which I tried and we both loved. I tried the B&F fresh watermelon cocktail which was very refreshing. Also found out $ 1 oysters during the week at happy hr so definitely will be back!

I ate at Barrel and Fare when it first opened. I remember the burger being juicy and delicious. Craving a burger last night, I thought I would go again. I wish I hadn’t. The burger was dry and there was a lack of flavor. My husband had the duck with risotto and it was soaked in butter without much other flavor. The cocktails were sub-par and too sweet. Service took forever. Not too sure why a sangria and lemonade takes 15 mins make. shouldn’t those have been already prepared in a pitcher? Plus, there was only one other table with customers at the time. The girls were friendly, but man were they slow. South Slope deserves better than this!

I can still feel shell chunks in the back of my throat from poorly shucked dirty oyster shells. Horrible! I can’t believe they were serve such mutilated disgusting scraps to people — I should have taken a photo. I thought I would leave happy hour much happier. The mini lobster rolls were the size of my pinky, too small and way over priced($ 14 for 3). I’m grateful for a new nice looking restaurant in the neighborhood but if the food quality/quantity doesn’t improve this place is going to close. Worst oysters I’ve ever had. If you can’t do it right please don’t do it.

I’m very sad to post this review. I really wanted to like this place and I do love the décor, the friendly staff and the selection of beers. However, the food is lacking to the extreme. Fries were tasteless, the ceviche tacos were gross and the burgers were dry. I’m not going to make excuses. Brooklyn has great food all around. Having a nice shell without the substance will not cut it. You can walk a few blocks and get outstanding food at Surfish(no, I do not work for them nor am I friends with anyone that works there). They just happen to have good food. You have Table 21 nearby and a host of other amazing places. Please fix this. New chef that knows how to cook maybe? Better sous chef that listens to the chef? I do not know what the right formula is but bad food with poor preparations is not it. If you have a small menu and high prices, make sure your food is on point.

Came here for drinks only. Really cute place, I loved the décor. So new and modern, amazing muted colors that really make the place stand out and look super clean. The bartender was extremely nice and let us order/alter any drinks that we did end up ordering, try things if we weren’t sure, and talked to us all night. There was a live singer who was also really awesome and great to talk to when he took breaks. No qualms, can’t wait to come back and sit outside!

Stopped by for quick drink and appetizers but decided to stay dinner. The food was good but portions very small and overpriced. Bartender was friendly and service was good. We will return for drinks but not for dinner. The tab was $ 90 and we ended up stopping for appetizers elsewhere on the way home as my BF and I were both still a tad hungry after the meal.

Since I could not reach the owners of Barrel and Fare to express a complaint. I will express my complaint on Unilocal.Several weeks ago I called to express a concern about one of Barrel and Fare’s employees. A man named Sean picked up the phone, did not listen to my concerns and said«Don’t worry, she is getting fired soon, many customers complained about her.» The following week I sit at the bar and Sean the bar tender charged me taxes on my wine. When I questioned the tax, he said«things changed.» Now we charge tax at the bar. Sean may have feared that I was going to call management to question the tax at the bar. He distorted the story by saying that I called and said that the worker who I called to complain about is a «b». No truth to that Sean. With all due to respect don’t distort the truth. As a result, Ryan tells my friend that I will not be allowed entry into Barrel land Fare. Not that I care because Ryan if you are a business man, you remain objective if you don’t know the details; I did not intend to go back. If you refer to the bar as a high end bar, start with the workers that you employ.

approximately 23 women went to Barrel & Fine Sunday for brunch. The ambiance is casual and seems to be a neighborhood place. Service & courtesy is lovely. Ryan, the Manager, was very pleasant and open to ideas. Scott, the Waiter, was excellent. Very convenient to the Gallery Players. NOTE: there is a ramp for wheel chair accessibility. Very important to those who need it because there is a step up.

Me and my boyfriend so angry we wasted our time here. The food was bland, salty, doughy, no substance and expensive for the small portions they served. It was so bad I didn’t finish my food and after we told the hostess about this it was no offer of discounting the mail or taking off my horrible entrée. So we paid this $ 50 bill and left to go get pizza. I would NEVERGOBACK here. Such a waste of time, money, and taste buds. DONTGOHERE It’s sad because I was looking for a spot close to my house to be a go to, but this is definitely not it.

This is a great addition to the neighborhood. It would be so much classier without the big television. But that’s just me…

3.5 stars. Maybe this place is pretty new as well, but I’m sure it won’t be long before it gets more popular. No wait for brunch on a weekend, win! My sister and I stopped in here and we had looked at the menu ahead of time, knowing that it’s somewhat limited; I don’t think that really matters as long as the food they do serve is good. We walked in and were told we could grab our own seats, service was friendly throughout our time there. The good, I love the whole rustic design of the place and it’s very spacious, so it’s great for a comfortable dining experience. The bad, I have this habit of wiping down the plates and utensils before eating and thats also how I noticed the stain(lipstick?!) around the glass rim. It wasn’t just on my glass, it was on my sister’s glass as well as the glasses on the tables next to us. I just ended up wiping them down before drinking from them, but eek… We ordered truffle fries to share, shrimp and grits and corned beef hash with rye, served with two eggs. The truffle fries were served with spicy mayo, but they were just ok. Some of the fries were kind of soggy and there really wasn’t much flavor. The shrimp and grits were good, creamy grits and flavorful shrimp; it’s hard to find grits made right in NYC. The corned beef hash was pretty good too, the corned beef was made well. This place may possibly better than lots of other places in the Park Slope area. I recommend giving them a try if you like good food and nice ambiance. It’s also a quick walk from the subway and there’s a good amount of parking around as well. Overall, a nice option to have for a simple meal!

UPDATEBELOW: Tried this place out for the first time yesterday during brunch, group of 3. We each ordered a bloody mary, which tasted fine, albeit small. Conveniently enough, their brunch menu does not offer up cocktail prices. After the first round, we asked our waitress(who never once flashed a smile) what the drink prices were and she said«Oh…um, I think they’re 8 or something like that?» My friend ordered another. Once we got our bill, we found out they were $ 11. Cool. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp and grits, which he said were decent. Friend ordered the portobello sandwich with no bun and just got a plate with a sad-looking piece of portobello and a bunch of kale/greens with nothing else. Maybe 1 cherry tomato. I ordered the breakfast burger, which they make with a sausage patty, but they were out of the sausage, so I got the chicken club instead but asked for the brioche bun instead of wheat toast. The waitress set it down in front of me and made sure to say it was on brioche, like that would make it real. This was NOT brioche, it was a deli roll. Everyone at my table had a good laugh. The chicken was also laughable. They cut costs buy using chicken tenders instead of a chicken breast and it was dry AF. Also, one piece of bacon on a chicken club makes me want to cry. The salad that came with the club had a dressing that had the flavor of, as my boyfriend described it, bile. yum! We also ordered the truffle parmesan fries for the table. They were ok, but you get maybe 30 fries for $ 7. The«garlic aioli» that came with the fries had the consistency of mayo… but the flavor of air. We asked for mayo, but apparently they just don’t have any. huh? Our total came out to OVER $ 100, which is insane for such a horrible experience and we all wanted to eat again immediately after. I don’t write Unilocal reviews if there are maybe 1 or 2 things that go wrong, but this place had 7 – 8 problems. On top of that, our waitress either hated us or hated her life, not sure which. The one saving grace for this place is their very well curated beer selection. Other than that, please do not bother. UPDATE: The owner reached out to me the same day I wrote my review to offer up apologies and try to rectify the situation. My friends and I will be returning next week to give it another shot. Appreciate the good customer service there! Will add another review after we’ve visited again!

This place is great. Really good food, great drinks, great service. We’ve been waiting for a place like this to open up on 4th. No pretension, all types come in. Definitely worth a visit. Guys. Support this place. It’s awesome.

Review is a bit late, had dinner here with girlfriends during Xmas time and we all enjoyed it. It’s a bit off the beaten path away from your usual Park Slope eateries but it’s definitely worth a visit. Nice place situated on the corner, bar seatings and cozy décor. We did however missed out on Happy Hour $ 1 oysters. It’s from 4 –7pm, enjoy! Now, here’s what we stuffed our belly with: Mini Lobster rolls(it was ok — kind of disappointing), over-priced oysters(the shells were very dirty), short rib empanada(lackluster.), Lobster Risotto(tasty & rich), Stuffed Pork Chops(delicious and savory), and Seared Salmon(kind of boring), Brussels Sprouts and Truffle Fries(underwhelmed in taste). Service was good and attentive, then again… We were the only dining patrons for most of the night… The menu is simple, some of the entrees packed a powerful punch… However, there are a few misses and would be a welcome opportunity for improvement.

This place is lovely! A bit off the beaten path but their food and atmosphere make it worth it. My fiancé and I went on a Saturday night and were delighted there was not a wait(although I’m sure once word gets out that will be a rarity). I had the Brusselsprouts tomato soup and veggie crostini. All the food was very flavorful and delicious. The wait staff was excellent and even over heard us discussing my fiancé’s upcoming birthday and gave us a glass of wine of the house. We’ll definitely be coming back.

South slope is the new and upcoming hipster neighborhood similar to park slope proper. I was excited to try this new place. Walking we we’re greeted right away by the friendly staff. I noticed the brick wall design thought it was cool and a nic touch. The bar is a cement type finish away from the typical wooden bar, thought that made it very different. Being that this is a pretty new establishment I will cut them a little slack for the menu not having much to choose from. What I won’t give them a pass on is the fact that I ordered a well done burger and the inside was completely raw. They apologized and replaced it with another 10 minutes later that still had redness on the inside but not completely raw. Key to a well done burger is to keep it on a low flame for a bit longer so the heat gets inside the meat. I decided not to say anything until I was ready to leave and was very impressed by the waitress response. She was happy to receive constructive criticism and said it with a smile. For that I would be more then happy to come back. Hopefully they will bring back hanger steak or skirt steak to the menu as well. Give them a try.

Great place for happy hour or to grab a quiet dinner. I’m from out of town and was staying just down the street when I came across this place on Unilocal.I started with the appetizer special which was burrata with crostini. The cheese was great, but I needed some more crostini! Then I had the lobster risotto which had plenty of lobster and was a nice big portion. I got a side of roasted Brussels sprouts which were nice and crispy the way I like them. My waiter said they had donuts for dessert, but after an appetizer and a large portion of risotto I was too full… Maybe next time :)

This place is awesome! First, they accommodated my vegetarian palate by making a special pasta dish with veggies. The Mac and cheese Fritter was an amazing appetizer and my husband loved his burger. My cocktail was great(Brooklyn Smash). This is a great addition to 4th Avenue and I’m definitely making this my go to spot! A++
