Barrios Auto Driving School

Jeffrey is an amazing instructor, he taught me what I needed to know and I was able to pass within the first road test. He gives you tips on what you should work on, as long as you follow everything he says you should be perfectly fine. The five hour class that is required also went by pretty quick, since he made a lot of jokes and interacted with his students.

recommended by a friend of the company. Was very excited and looking forward to the classes. They are very busy. Made my appointments about 1 – 2 months in advance because they had nothing available sooner. Called to confirm less than a week before and was told that my 8 scheduled classes were now 4 classes because they had to schedule other appointments. And the way they scheduled my classes is not how they do it, so they had to change it. No one called me to tell me.
Very disappointed. Cancelled the rest of the 4 appointments that they were trying to give me.
Then I got a call from the Manager trying to explain what happened which is none of my business because there was a communication failure within their company. And was told repeatedly, «I don’t run the business this way…»
Short version
Me: but you did, so you do run your business this way. So I have no idea why you are calling me. If you wanted to apologize, fine, but I have nothing to do with it.
Barrios: ok, I am sorry.
Then she hung up on me.
Will not be using them.

I really enjoyed my experience at barrios. Both Jeff and Jackie are very kind people and put a lot of care into their students. Jeff made the five hour class fly by with his stories and jokes, while at the same time teaching us a lot. Scheduling of driving lessons and road test was a smooth process. Jeff was very patient with me during my driving lessons and let me know what I needed to work on. There was a snow storm on the day of my test so we reviewed the rules of driving in the snow while we were waiting and I was able to pass my test!
I highly recommend barrios driving school!

Like many Newyorkers I never felt the need to have a license, so I waited until I was 46 to get it and I chose this school from my old neighborhood. Jef was awesome, patient and knowledgeable. I passed on my first try. I took the 5 class package deal and it was money well spent

I (stupidly) let my license expire for over a year, and had to go through the long, arduous process of getting a new one in a different state. I researched driving schools online for a couple of weeks, since I was rusty, and finally decided on Barrios, mainly because they are in Brooklyn, but ALSO because they are significantly less expensive than comparable schools.
I opted for the 5, 45-​min training classes, the 5-​hour certification course, and the loaner car for the test, all for $ 285.00.
Jeffrey is a dream – so patient and nice, and tosses in the occasional joke to help ease the tension of operating a 2,000 pound death-​machine. He says he has a 90% pass rate with his students, and I believe him!
Bonus points if you speak Spanish.

This is a great driving school. The instructor, Jeffrey, was informative, gave good explanations and tips on all of the skills of driving. With a great sense of humor and highly tuned to any difficulties you might have, he tailors lessons to focus on where you need to practice or work, and is always helpful and constructive.
The five hour class here sped by with explanations for why the law is the way it is, and on the day of the test Jeffrey took my mind off nerves with jokes and riddles.
I passed the test and I couldn’t have asked for more from the package deal I bought, which was well worth the money.
