Bay Ridge Urgent Care Center

I had to write a review after reading all the negative reviews on this place. I have never used an urgent care center before but in the middle of the blizzard I found myself needing medical attention that was not necessarily appropriate for an emergency room.
Every single person was simply amazing here from the security guard to the doctors. The wait time was minimal but every medical facility has a wait. The doctor took care of me perfectly and the nurses were gentle and comforting through out the whole process.
After speaking with some of the nurses must of them are former ER nurses from the old Victory Memorial hospital. The doctors are experienced ER doctors and really know their stuff.
I would absolutely recommend this urgent care center over any other in the neighborhood.

Brought my daughter there for a high fever. The doctor was great and I really liked him. However, the facility was ok and we had to wait a long time even though there were not a lot of people there. These two negatives were not a huge deal. What was a big deal is their billing… BEWARE of their billing — they are going to bill you for a hospital visit AND a doctor’s visit. Depending on your insurance, you will likely get TWO bills. We thought we were going to an urgent care, not a «ER.» In fact, I was specifically trying to avoid going to the ER because (1) it was not necessary at the time and (2) I did not want to have to pay for it. In retrospect, I should have just driven to PM pediatrics, but I did not think going here would be any different,. and it was closer. BIG MISTAKE. Next time, if I want to pay for an ER visit, I will go to the ER. I will avoid this place like the plague and hold out for City MD or another TRUE «urgent care» facility where they charge ONE normal co-​pay. Completely inappropriate billing and advertising of the services they provide /​the type of facility they are.

I had the worse experience ever. People are not welcoming and very nasty on the phone. I would never go to that center nor recommend to anyone. There are much better places to get urgent help in BK.

The worst Urgent care, I took my daughter because she was burning in fever, since the moment I called, whoever answered the phone said we are closing in 45 minutes, implying that don’t come we are about to close. Then got there with enough time to be seem, the nurse keeps taking my daughter temperature the wrong way and got the wrong degrees, so we waited to be seen by the Doctor. Then the Doctor saw her and just gave her Motrin, we took our daughter next day to her regular pediatric and my daughter was diagnosed with tonsillitis and was given antibiotics. Wait it doesn’t stop there, I went myself due to a horrible sore throat, I was prescribed with cough syrup only, went to my doctor and had an infection. Don’t understand if the doctors even know the seriousness of patients health. They need some training or get serious

Fast, friendly and thorough.
My 2 year old started running a temp and had a horrible cough the day his regular doctor was closed. I went to the Urgent Care expecting a long wait in a horrible waiting room. I was pleasantly surprised. Was seen immediately by the reception nurse and quickly by the doctor. Everyone was friendly, from the nurses to the doctors and the secretaries.
Two thumbs up!

In a word: Excellent. .
My wife was bowled over by a wilding toddler on Halloween and fell hard on the sidewalk, injuring her knee, wrist and arm. Not exactly what she needed after breaking her hip last year,
We dreaded another visit to Lutheran or another ER with their chaos and endless waits. So she toughed it out and we went to the SUNY Downstate Urgent Care Center the next morning.
We were second in line, on a Friday at about 10AM. We were seen after a max 5 minute wait by the triage nurse, who was extremely friendly and understanding.
Within 20 minutes of arrival, she had seen the doctor and her X-​Rays were done by an extremely professional tech.
Dr. Ron Friedman was very attentive, friendly and professional. Within half an hour of arrival, he was discussing the digital x-​rays with other SUNY doctors and confirmed there were (thankfully), no fractures.
Within 45 minutes of arrival, Dr. Friedman had wrapped her arm in a bandage with a splint and we were on our way.
I’d strongly recommend this place over the ER for important yet «non trauma» medical issues.

The pros:
: no wait time (11:30am on a Tuesday)
Carol is a sweetheart (the nurse)
The other nurse who did my I’V was great.
The cons:
Parking is horrendous (off side parking tues 11:30 –1)
They didn’t know what the nuva ring is. (popular type of birth control)
Repeatedly asked if I take drugs
Very Sarcastic
Judge mental
Not accommodating (felt like I was in a prison bed)
Shoed me out
Here is what happened. The day before i ate leftover mexican food for lunch. stomach pains started Around 6pm; which continued to get worse. Through out the night along with vomiting and headache. The next morning I get in my car drove around for 40 min looking for a parking spot. Finally 6 blocks away I find a spot and try my damnedest to hobble to the facility. (again my stomach feels like knives are stabbing through it, its super hot out & I can’t keep anything down) I get there pre questions asked; I answer then she takes my blood pressure and any fight I had left in me went away. I passed out and I woke up in a hospital bed I was delirious an they putting me in a robe. I heard one woman say «I mentioned a UA and she just passed out» I wanted to say «no lady I am dehydrated from puking all night and just walked 6 blks and that thing that squeezed my arm made me light headed» they wouldn’t do anything until I gave them a UA… Ok understandable. However they kept asking if I take drugs and what else’s am I on and do I drink. They would not get off the fact the I am a recent college grad who was perscribed Ritilin and was low on my PX. I said I take the nuva ring and I am prescribed ritilin. They say «oh so you do take birth control everyday.» I say no its a popular vaginal birth control that is inserted every 3 weeks. Its not a pill. How does a licensed Dr. NOT know that!!! Then says «we’ll we are not going to give you pain killers and ritilin here.»
Are you kidding me?!! They totally profiled and all I wanted was the god awful stomach pains to go away. I get a liter of liquids and a small blue pill that was supposed to help the «abdominal spasms »
The pain went away for a bit but came right back. They said «ok you can go» I was there maybe about 60 min and at one point I did hear the Dr. Say «what is she going to stay here all day?»
I was coherent by this point but all I wanted to do was curl up in a ball. So they released me and here I am 6 hours later in my bed STILL with pains an have no idea what to do.
Thanks Dr. David D. For being so hospitable, understanding, judgmental and caring jackass. I came in alone because everyone else had to work and I couldn’t take the pain Anymore.
DO NOT GO HERE if you are really bad. Sore throat, asthma, something small its fine. I had no pillow was so uncomfortable and felt like they charged me out the ass for a pint of water an a piss test. I KNoW I wasn’t pregnant and I DONt TAKE DRuGS.
Which is what I felt like they thought I was looking for, like some bum off the street .
I am a college grad with a major and a minor; who has never touched drugs, called out of work and got the crappiest care ever. Now I still have to suffer.
