Bergen Bagels on Fulton

I just called to place an order for delivery and was left on hold for 8 minutes. Called back and the guy who answered yelled at me, cut me off then put me BACK on hold. So far it’s been 2 and a half minutes no I’m not joking. I’m very annoyed.

I love Bergen Bagels. The Salmon Bagel with Scallion Cream cheese is booomb! Can definitely recommend it

Yeah, I know it’s not what you came here for, but trust me — don’t leave without one (and I don’t mean the pre-​packaged kind; get the ones that are up on the wall with the bagels)
They are almost always fresh with a thin layer of chocolate and vanilla frosting.

Excellent bagels. Ones that come out of the kitchen hot are just like bagels are supposed to be, crispy and chewy, very slightly sweet, just perfect. Don’t toast them!

This place is always filled with the dirty junkies from the methadone clinic on Waverly. These annoying low-​lifes hang out at this bagel place and creep everyone out. The coffee and bagels are ok though.

If you have 5 people working and 2 costumers i expect the tables to be spotless clean. My table is dirty. With bagel crumbs and its Sticky. I see bagel spills everywhere in corners when i look around me. People are friendly. Bagel is good. But located on a hotspot you obviously dont have to care.

The cool thing about visiting New York is getting to eat all the good food! And a bagel, as crazy as it sounds, was something all my friends told me I need in my life and so. This spot caught my eye. Being a vegan I prayed for something amazing and not only was I pleasantly surprised by a few different vegan tofu spreads, but the selection was almost endless. Grab-​go and in my belly only issue, was a little tough because it was probably out for a few hours and that fine but I wish it was fresh. A little on the salty side too

A bagel place getting two stars? Who would even bother rating a bagel place two stars, much less leave a review, etc? This place serves delicious, fresh, huge bagels with an impressive assortment of cheeses. If they get my order right, I am in heaven.
Getting the order right – or at all– that’s where the 3 star dock comes from. I’ve come here intermittently about 5 times throughout the past year. I am struck by how abysmal the service is every time. I’ve been here during both morning rushes and afternoon lulls. The pace is the same, regardless of the demand, which is a sluggish and dazed crawl. I’m always ticked off by how long it takes me to flag someone down. I am not meek. I speak in a loud but friendly and clear tone. Today, out of the 5 standing around, I asked the guys one by one if they can take my order, and each person pointed at another guy. Then, paying for your order is an entirely separate challenge. Today, three employees including the cashier were bickering about prices, etc, and it took over 5 minutes to swipe my card with no other people in front of me.
It’s a true pity that good food is being served by what I can only describe as a completely incompetent crew. I know the manager likes to comment on everyone’s review promising that things will improve by the time the customer returns, but I’m convinced they are empty promises. Does this manager, who is ever so present on Unilocal,bother coming into the store? Probably not, since he’s always asking people to describe the employee under scrutiny, just so he can probably fire him and replace him with someone just as incompetent. Maybe the employees are paid so poorly and turnover is so high that no one bothers to give any effort. Having worked in those kinds of places, I can’t blame them. The manager, with his meaningless rebuttals, should do better to hire, train, and manage with more discernible intelligence, rather than reply to this review. I’ll probably come back in a few months, and it’ll probably be the same.

I’ve come here on several accounts, so this review is not based on my last bagel.(if I did, it would be –15 stars) Do you like cream cheese spread? Do you like a heaping load of cream cheese spread onto your bagel, to the point that you can only taste cream cheese? Do you like cream cheese spread to the point that, when you ask for another topping, you only taste cream cheese? Then this place is for you! I ordered a cream cheese AND jelly bagel, so tell me why the hell did it have about a teaspoon of jelly and a crap load of heavy, loads of cream cheese? ugh I had to take several, upon several napkins to wipe it off. This happens to be a common thing at bergen bagel, they will add a crap lot of cream cheese topping to your bagel (this has happened several times in the past) and if you don’t request, they will use a heavy hand. Today, I was tired so I didn’t think they would be so heavy handed… man was I wrong. Seriously, no one can eat all of the cream cheese they had put in my bagel. yuck.
So remember: Request a little bit of cream cheese or don’t ask for it at all.

I’ve been coming to this shop for years and their bagels are well above average. I like the Bagels a lot. I have to say, though, it seems like their portions have gone down recently. For example, I got this egg and cheddar cheese on bagel sandwich and the egg and cheese is basically a thin line of contents inside the bagel. Have a look.

Good place to grab a bagel for breakfast or lunch. They also have salads, soups, and wraps. Huge spread of cream cheeses and a smaller selection of sweet treats (black and white cookies, coffee cake, brownies, etc.)
I went on a Thursday afternoon for lunch, there was no line and service was friendly. Will be returning here next time I get a craving for a bagel sandwich!

I have been walking past this place for a little over a year now and I never went inside. I assumed it was just bagels, bread and more flour and more pounds. So i kept walking… A little tired of my selections i decided to try it and see what they had to offer. I went in and to my surprise there was actually a full menu of food outside of bagels. The name is misleading! I couldn’t decide on what to order so i had a spinach salad and soup. The salad tasted great, 5 toppings for roughly $ 9.00…The soup tasted awful…
My co-​worker ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese. The cream cheese had scallions in it, i never had flavored cream cheese. She offered me a piece. its seemed like i was in heaven… The taste is amazing… and the bagel tasted awesome. You can tell they definitely bake the bagels fresh every morning…
I also noticed egg salad, yogurts, tuna and many more options.

I have given up on Bergen Bagels. Five times now I have visited this location, and not once have I left the store a satisfied customer.
The first time I went there, I ordered chicken salad on an everything. I was given egg salad on my bagel.
The second time, my boyfriend and I ordered two different bagel sandwiches, and my sandwich was put on his olive bagel while his sandwich was put on my everything bagel. I hate olives so I returned mine, but he kept his.
The third time, we ordered a half dozen bagels to go, thinking that we could just make our own sandwiches at home. We ordered two everything, two marble rye, and two olive, because he was just so curious about this olive bagel. We were given two rye bagels rather than two olives and unfortunately did not notice this until we were home.
The fourth time, I ordered cream cheese on marble rye and he ordered smoked salmon on the elusive olive bagel. After we repeated our order twice to the lady, I saw her grab an olive bagel and a pumpernickel. I had to grab her attention and correct her before she started the sandwich. Finally, my boyfriend got his sandwich correctly, but she messed up and gave me the wrong cream cheese. So I had to wait while she made a new one, putting an obscene amount of cream cheese on (I think as an apology), which I then had to wipe off afterwards. We were in there so long waiting by the cashier, one of the other employees commented, surprised that we still hadn’t gotten our bagels.
The fifth time, today, we ordered two salt bagels and two marble rye bagels and our favorite feta pesto cream cheese to go. We watched the guy scoop our cream cheese, and thought it looked different than it normally did, but it was labeled as such so we did not question it. We got home to realize that it was NOT feta pesto, but apple cinnamon cream cheese. Not even close.
I know mistakes happen, but this is ridiculous.
I can’t give this place one star because their bagels ARE good, and their feta pesto cream cheese is amazing. Just beware to carefully check your order before you take a bite or leave the store. It’s a shame because the food is good, but the employees are very careless.

On my recent trip to New York I just wanted to consume as many NY style bagels as possible.
Bergen Bagel’s was only a couple of blocks from my friends apartment, and it did just the job! Not the best bagels i have had in my life but pretty damn good.
The service was pretty fast (I notice a lot of people mentioned that they were slow) and the eggs, cheese, and bacon bagel I got helped with my hangover. Also, my sandwich plus a bag of chips and a snapple was only like $ 6, which, as I’ve realized, is super reasonable in New York. I had paid $ 9 for the exact same sandwich two blocks down the street.

This place was packed 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon. I live in the neighborhood but this was my first time there. The hipsters got this place on lock. Onion bagel with shrimp salad was awesome.
Bagel was fresh, service was fast, but I’m givng three stars because I’m HUGE on customer service and there was none of that available on that day.
The employees moved like an assembly line, I imagine this is how cars are put together at the Ford Plant. We were in and out, the food was good, however I prefer my coffee with a smile or «come again». something.

Massive selection of bagels and spreads out on Fulton towards BedStuy. Certainly neither the best or worst bagel I’ve ever had, but average to slightly above average for Brooklyn.
Coffee was abysmal, docking a 3 star to a 2.

So I decided to get a breakfast sandwich from here after leaving the nail salon as I see the staff oftentimes ordering their breakfast from here. Because it’s a bagel spot I expected more. I mean they do have different varieties of bagels and cream cheeses but the sandwich itself didn’t hold a candle to my local bodega’s breakfast sandwich lol.
I ordered a toasted buttered blueberry bagel with egg whites, cheddar cheese and bacon. The bagel had no flavor and the bacon either was cheap or thin slice. Which ever it was, it was miserable.

Bergen bagels have top notch bagels. The bagels are always fresh baking is done on the premises. I love bagels so I’m very picky when it comes to bagels. The bagels are firm, soft and chewy but not to chewy. They have a wide variety of bagels to your own liking and also a wide variety of cream cheeses. It gets real busy in the mornings but the service is prompt The servers sometimes get your order screwed up I know that can be annoying but keep in mind nobody is perfect people make mistakes especially when your serving a big crowd in the morning customer can be unforgiving about that kind of thing. I take with a grain of salt. My choice of bagels blueberry, whole wheat, garlic and whole wheat everything.

I’ve been a true blue Bergen Bagel addict for years… Our relationship goes way back to 2002 when I was a poor artsy student in Brooklyn following my New York nose to a decent bagel in the neighborhood. This location was one of my favorite. The bagels are great, the portions are generous and the staff has always been friendly… Except recently, the new staff has been less than efficient from what I’m used to. The new staff specifically. How hard is it to remember an everything bagel over a plain? Or veg cream cheese over regular? Much more challenging apparently than I expected… The new staff is slow and I need to repeat myself several times… And even then they still got it wrong several times.
My dear sweet Bergen, I love you but not your baggage… you are really pushing my loyalty…

While the food is delicious and the staff friendly, it’s also very slow to get your order. Like painfully so. I don’t know what the issue is but, it doesn’t seem to be a major concern. I am sure they would sell more coffee and other things if, it was less of an ordeal to receive even a simple bagel order.
