This would be a great Laundromat if you could go at any time and not worry about the thieving customers. Big up to the Mamita’s(or whomever) and their clever way of building a wardrobe off of oblivious customers. To the classy Latina’s out there, you know I am not talking about you. You don’t have 15 kids and don’t wear spandex pants 8 sizes too small. The Mamitas at Best Wash, or the ghost of missing clothing items, apparently have a racket going during the busiest hours. They play two«games». Game A: some Mamita(or random person,) will put their drying clothes in the dryer next to yours, and while you are occupied on your smart phone texting away or reading Gothamist, they deftly reach into your dryer, grab something quick, and transfer it to their dryer. Game B: Mamita’s children(whom are very well trained !) are great at knowing when you are not paying attention to your bag, or the pile of clean laundry you just folded. You don’t have to believe me. Just go there on a Saturday or Sunday morning every week for a month. Before you arrive, count how many clothing items you go in with. I guarantee that you will end up missing an item or two. Doh! Did you leave it behind? A quick run back will yield negative results. The owner, poor guy, will just shake his head. He is not responsible for missing items. Maybe you didn’t take it to the Laundromat. You search your house and wow, its not there! Have you ever wondered how a seemingly middle aged, guy whom doesn’t speak a lick of English, is rocking a Vampire Weekend T shirt? Now you know. Otherwise, if you do your laundry at the wee hours this is the best place on earth!

I sit and stare in amazement at the wash and fold team. They are the finest tuned group of people. I saw one woman fold a shirt 3 times to get it to fit«just so» in her pile. One woman’s job is to keep the loads tagged, separated, and check the dryers to make sure there is no dampness. She will just rotate through the loads and the machines. Imagine someone doing your laundry the way you would for yourself and your family. This place does it. If and when I start having our laundry done the«wash and fold» way, this is the place! Oh and the price? 60 cents a pound! The self serve machines are super clean and modern. The proprietor is always walking through the place with a huge swiffer like dry mop, looking for garbage to pick up. There is a café that serves smoothies with real yogurt and fruit! The gentleman who works there in the afternoon is very kind and attentive. He gave us a little cup to taste to make sure it wasn’t too sweet like the one he had made for us before. Hot tea and coffee for $ 1, takis, breakfast sandwiches, fruit, bagels, rolls, smoothies, milkshakes, this is not a shy menu. If you need to hit up a laundromat for a huge load of towels or anything, look no further. It takes the«ugh» out of doing laundry. I would give this place 5 Stars if the bathroom were cleaner.

They are open 24⁄7. I usually do my laundry around Midnight when there is hardly anyone there. It’s fully air conditioned so you can wait, read a book/magazine while your clothes are in the dryer or wash. They have vending machines there, but there is a Chinese Food place, Pizzeria and a deli on the next block. So I usually grab a snack and enjoy it there while waiting.
