Bishop Kearney High School

I’m graduating from Bishop Kearney in a month. Boy, how time flies.
From my first day, I felt welcome at this school. The faculty and staff have been so incredibly kind to me throughout all four years. The teachers are articulate and friendly, the secretaries are engaging and show genuine concern for the students… there is not much to complain about at BKHS, except the uniforms, the overpriced cafeteria food, and the occasional cockroach.
Class of 2016 forever!

I can’t believe no one has reviewed my alma mater. I attended BKHS from 1982 – 1986. This was a great time to be a teen. It was easier and CHEAPER to date. This school for girls demands the best of the young women that attend these hallowed halls of learning. At first the thought of attending an all girls school made me sick. But after a few months I got that I was safe and I was there to accomplish something.
Today students are dropping out at alarming rates and those who are pushed through the system graduate barely knowing how to read. At BK women are given a top notch education. When I attended college I had already read many of the classics and tackled calculus. I had a foundation that is unmatched by any other private school in the tri-​state area. I look back with pride because me and my girls did it. We all went to college and most of us also have an advanced degree.
I only say this to show that it takes A LOT of work for a society to be successful. That success begins in the home with the parents but must be supported by a great education. I am lucky to have gone to Bishop Kearney. That place holds such fond memories. Like the Xavierian boys showing up each day to taunt (I mean flirt) with us. The dances where we listened to Motley Crew and the Fresh Prince (Will Smith). Rolled up skirts and big hair ruled. I still can smell the hair spray (Aquanet anybody??)
Favorite teachers: Mr. G, Mr. Ribaldi, Mrs. Gallagher and Sister St. Stephens (put your pencils down ladies!!!)
Seriously Bishop Kearney can now brag of at least three generations of women being educated there. Rumor has it some of it’s notable alumna include ME and Rosanna Scotto.
