Bob’s Discount Furniture

We were making the rounds looking for a mattress and figured let’s check out this store. Big mistake. We were greeted at the door by a young guy, and we all went to the elevator to go upstairs, along with another worker from the store. While waiting for the elevator, and then inside it, these 2 guys start talking about a girl who worked there. ” You still with her” says salesman. Other guy looks a little embarrassed (he should’ve been) to be talking about that in front of my wife and I, and sort of gave one word answers. Salesman says ” oh, you only got that once ?” WTF is wrong with people. At that time I knew there was no possible way, no matter what, that I would ever buy anything that day, or ever from this store. I don’t really care about how people talk to each other but in a place of buisness, especially with a older woman in the elevator, freaking watch what you talk about. I couldn’t believe it, even though my wife really didn’t catch what they were really talking about (she had the gist of it though). For that reason alone, I’d never buy a thing from any Bob’s store.

Let me tell you about Bob’s Discount Furniture and their lack of regard for customer. Not the store itself, as office help tried. No, it is delivery and warehouse that are a disaster.
Ordered a new mattress and box spring on Jan. 7, was tired after a long day. Saleman fails to ask what kind of platform will the mattress go on. Sells us mattress and box spring that brings bed up four feet high. Fails to say they have low profile box springs.
Delivered in 2 days. Nice — but it is way too high. Nobody can get on the bed or off without getting hurt.
We ask for replacement and I even pay $ 40 for redelivery. Here it comes!
Original date for delivery is Jan 23, but my wife convinces them to get it to us 10 days early.
@mybobs comes Jan 13, takes box spring from platform bed, but no replacement. Breaks one of the slates holding mattress so now it is sinking from platform. These mattresses are a disaster without a box spring. It is no wonder warranty’s no good without box. other slates also showing possible cracking.
Go to Flatbush Ave store, Ebonne, sales office rep calls warehouse — she can’t believe a separate trip is made for box springs without replacing.
Instead, warehouse tells her earliest delivery is Jan 29. I tell them that they will now have to replace mattress as it will be ruined, and fix any broken slates. In meantime, with no other choices, I must now prop up remaining slates with wood so that mattress doesnt fall off platform. Outrageous!!!
A large company like Bob’s Discount Furniture should be better stocked, better able to take care of a delivery and better able to service a customer that has made many thousands of dollars in purchases over the past few years. Imagine, they can’t get box springs for a Queen size bed. How in the world to they operate?
BEWARE THESE GUYS!!! Sleepy’s right down the block, don’t they know that?

really bad quality. within 6 months of purchasing a sectional from bob’s it was falling apart. They exchanged it and sure enough the new one broke before a year. They sent a Bob’s inspector to look at the sofa and he called goof proof to cover it. I paid for goof proof and to my surprise they told me that it was not broken accidentally so they donot cover it. After being back and forth on the phone with Bobs I was told that the manufacture did not cover it as well. the sectional is under a year old and I am stuck with the task of paying out of pocket for it to be repaired. this is really not fair, I paid for extra protection and still nothing. I will never purchase from Bob’s Furniture again.

I find it very difficult to buy furniture when a number of the sales reps are talking to one another or on their phone’s at the entrance. However, our experience turned for the better when Dylan offered to assist us. He took the time to answer our questions. The other reps can take a page out of his dedication to attending to the customer.

How about a negative 0 star first off the salesperson «Kevin» steel clear of him! We made our choice in 10 minutes because we shopped around before… he had us waiting for F*** paperwork because he was helping someone ELSE making his second sale!!!
Then the idiot in finance was barking at us because SHE was having a bad day! She had the nerve to say we were being nasty & rude. I love Bob’s but their staff sucks! Wish I went to another location … #EpicFail

My experience with Bob’s was great and this was my first time doing business with them. Upon entering the store, I was immediately greeter by a nice saleswoman named Jamela.
I explained to her what I wanted and she immediately showed me many selections. She didn’t show me what she thought I needed but exactly what I specifically told her.
My saleswoman was very patient while I called my bank to complete the transaction. I’m an observer so I watched if she may have been getting impatient while took care of my business but she didn’t which was a plus to me. I don’t care for aggressive salespeople.
She thoroughly explained everything about the store policies, the products and extended warranties to me. Upon making my purchase, I was able to walk away feeling great about my purchase.
My experience was very good here. I love that they offer free coffee, cookies and candy to customers.

On ⁹⁄₂₃ my husband and I went into Bobs to check out a sectional we saw online. We were greeted by Dimitri (might have spelled his name wrong). I usually tend to be turned off by salesman, especially when being pushy but right off the back Dimitri was friendly, knowledgable and helpful. He showed us the couch we wanted and explained everything in great detail in terms of pricing, care, insurance and delivery. He also explained purchasing options for us, I initially wanted to pay everything up front but without being pushy he mentioned the acceptance now program. From there we worked with Stacey who was also knowledgable, charismatic and thorough with details. We were also greeted by the store manager Jeff who also shared the same qualities, I love that Bobs is focused on explaining policies and going over information so no stone is left unturned. I feel fully secure making purchases with you guys. I don’t understand these negative reviews, this is hands down the best customer service Ive ever experienced, especially living in NYC.

Honestly I wouldn’t even give 1 star to this business. I bought my furniture 1 year ago with full warranty for everything. Every time I have a problem and I call them they tell me unfortunately they can’t help me. Then once I called them to get a replacement Matress cover and they told me to call another number when I called that number, they said they haven’t worked with bobs furniture from last 6 years. Bobs furniture is a brand that never deliver their promises… DO NOT BUY YOUR FURNITURE FROM HERE… THEY ARE COSTLY AND FURNITURE AND THE HASSEL IS NOT WORTH IT…

I’ve purchased furniture at Bob’s; a bedroom set. The quality was not very good. In fact I knew to expect that. Though I still found myself having to drive to the warehouse in Northeastern Connecticut to get a part their installers broke. That said, I’ve been content with my purchase, until this morning …
At 8:30 AM this Saturday morning while I was riding my bike on Gold Street in Brooklyn I was run off the road by a Bob’s truck barreling along at 50 MPH or more. That’s in NYC where the speed limit is 25 MPH.
I’m.never giving money to Bob’s again. They sell poor quality, don’t care about service and are a menace to the community.
That’s all.

I stopped by this bobs location recently with my mom to look at some recliner chairs for her. This was my first experience with Bobs furniture store and I can only sum up my experience as just OK because it definitely could have been better.
When we entered the store I was immediately greeted by a sales representative who directed me to the appropriate section. It was very obvious that they are paid on commission because it was hard to look with out being interrupted by various sales people looking for someone ready to purchase.
After trying out a few of the chairs and my mother made a choice I called over the initial representative that greeted us. After taking note of the chair that my mother chose she gave us a total and then asked for her delivery address. I explained to her that I would be paying for the chair and handed her my bank card. I noticed that she immediately swiped my card without getting my name or address. Soon after she tells me that the transaction did not go through and that I should call my bank to confirm that I had money available. I couldn’t help but laugh and inform her that I definitely would not be shopping with my mother without money. I then explained to her that I did not live with my mother so my name and address I’m sure would have to noted as the billing address. I don’t work in sales but to me that was common sense. She then informed me that entering my home address shouldnt make a difference. She insisted that the transaction should’ve gone through regardless.
At this point I explained to her that I was fine with purchasing the chair myself online. She then stated that she would have the front office run the transaction. When we arrived at the front office another representative asked me for my ID and confirmed my home address. Soon after the front office representative handed me documents to sign. The sales floor representative who sees this appears shocked and then says to her coworker at the front desk in a disbelieving tone «Oh! The transaction went through». She then turned to me with the biggest smile on her face and apologized. I guess she is used to her own bank card declining.
This was my first experience shopping at a Bob’s furniture location and if I try them again I will try to avoid this location.

Had a great experience, I already knew what I wanted and came in with my Acceptance Now approval. Darrius Alexander was our sales rep and he was very sweet, friendly, and helpful. Highly recommended him. Rosa at the desk made everything easy, explained everything we needed to know. She’s fantastic. Jeff the manager present gave us the final walk through of our order and he was incredibly welcoming. Thank you very much guys, for a Saturday furniture shopper, you made it nice and easy.

I purchased the Jamestown (I think its been renamed Richmond) king sized bedroom set including a memory foam california king mattress from this Bob’s store in July 2013. I am surprised by the amount of negative reviews on here. Granted, my shopping experience is approaching 2 years at this time but I am still surprised by the negative reviews. Initially there was an issue with damaged products such as a crack on the mirror frame and cracked panel on the rear of my chest of drawers. Bob’s staff was very apologetic and immediately came to repair and replace the damaged items. I have used the bed everyday and nothing has broken or «fallen apart» as many of the reviews state. The delivery men were extremely patient with me and moved the furniture around for me because I couldn’t make up my on the set up of the room. They also cleaned and hauled all of the cardboard that was holding all of the furniture. The bed is solid wood and absolutely beautiful with intricate detail work. I am always being complimented about my bedroom set. I loved the set and service so much that my mom purchased her bedroom set (Bahama Bob and mattress) maybe a month later and also has had nothing but praise.

If there was a way to give a lower score I would, worst buying experience I have ever had. Customer service was ok, but there’s only so much they can do when they work for a company that practices horrible business. From the salesmen to the delivery it was horrible, there furniture is not a good enough deal to have to go through the pain of dealing with them. Do yourself a favor and pay a little elsewhere and avoid Bobs Furniture at all costs.

My family and I went into a Bob’s branch and was very satisfied with the service at the time. Upon delivery, the product was not as expected. Within 12 hours we called the store asking for a refund because the product was not what we imagined and they gave us a very hard time. Apparently it is the «store policy» that upon delivery there is no chance to refund, only store credit. This is appalling because there is no way for us to know whether or not the furniture is fit for our home unless it is delivered. What is even more disappointing is that this «policy» was not explained to us once at all during the purchase.
Although the store’s slogan is «I’ve got you covered» and ensures to provide «excellent service to [their] customers» i can GREATLY disagree. No where in the brochure does it even mention this ridiculous excuse of a return policy. The associate we spoke to apologized for the policy not being relayed to us. But this should not be our problem and the store should be held accountable for their sales associate’s mistake and lack of communication.
I am livid with the customer assistance and service. The associates even at the headquarters were no help. Sad to say i wasted thousands of dollars with Bobs.

Recently, I purchased a Brown Leather Recliner Sofa and Love Seat last week and had it delivered yesterday. The sofa looked great in the store leading us to think that it would be a great addition to our humble abode. Unfortunately, when the items were delivered, it didn’t look quite as fitting like we had originally thought. Assuming that there was a limited time frame to allow us to make any necessary changes, I called customer service the FOLLOWING DAY to request a refund for the item only to find out that once an item has been purchased and delivered, the only available option is store credit. I asked to speak with a supervisor which lead me to speak with Stephanie whom didn’t sound too bright or knowledgable either. Despite my repeated attempts to explain that I wouldn’t had asked for a refund had I known how the item would’ve looked until it was delivered, she just repeated the same thing over and over again.
I am extremely disappointed (to say the least) that no one has been told or even heard of this policy until it is too late. Now, I can’t get a full refund because I wasn’t told that Bob’s Furniture won’t issue one once the items have been delivered. What bullshit. I have fallen as a victim and now must settle with a sofa that I like, but do not love. So from one shopper to all the shoppers out there browsing for furniture at Bob’s Furniture, please be aware of this HIDDEN policy before it is too late! (Keep in mind — I am not insulting the quality of Bob’s furnitures, but rather the ridiculous hidden policy that everyone SHOUD know about prior to finalizing anything)

Let me start off by saying that my shopping experience at bob’s good. The sales team was eager to help and answer any question. However, the furniture itself was very disappointing.
Should really be called «bob’s disposable furniture» because things do not last. On my trip to bobs I purchased a dining room set and 2 couches. It seemed good quality and reasonable price, but i have to say I was completely wrong. The dining chairs started to fall apart in a matter of days. Not sure if they were just assembled wrong or they are just crappy quality. I will point out that they did come and «fix» the chairs, but as I am writing this the piece fell off again. Great job! –_​-​. The couch is very very comfortable, however don’t expect it to last more than a year. It has been a few months and the material is starting to come apart and literally looks like its an old couch.
I think that if you rarely use the furniture you’re buying then its not a bad deal. However, if you expect to sit in your couch often and eat at your dining table get something with better quality.

I do not understand why the reviews are so negative. I had a great experience here!
First off, the prices are the lowest anywhere. Especially good for the decent quality.
Second, the selection is huge and unique. They have power reclining sofas, which you really can’t get anywhere else locally.
Third, the sales people are relaxed, professional, knowledgeable, and not at all pushy. I dealt with two sales women and they were straight forward and patient with me while I tested every sofa in the whole store. No pushing for add ons.
Fourth, the sales floor had a lot of inventory on the floor. Everything type of fabric, leather, and color is on display, instead of being referred to on tiny little poster stands like other furniture stores.
I searched for a sofa for two days at Ikea, Raymour & Flanagan, Ashley’s Furniture, and Jennifer Convertible, but was not happy until I got to Bob’s. Plus, they have a cute section with FREE coffee, tea, cookies, candies, and ice cream!

I made an order online and i paid 336.41 for just a queen mattress after that i had to pay 32.67 for the queen foundation which i think thats a reasonable price.
When the delivery came the foundation couldn’t fit through the stairs so they took it back, i had to call the Brooklyn store located in Flatbush and the guy told me that they had one split foundation which comes in 2 peaces but to get that one i had to pay 54.44 dollars that was the different between the regular and the split foundation so i just paid it and total i ended paying 423.57 for a queen mattress and a split queen foundation.
Thanks God i didn’t throw away my old mattress, when i came to my room to put my new mattress on the bed it was too big and the delivery guy had left already so i had to call the store and explained the issue so i told the guy «just change it for a full size and bring the mattress whenever you guys bring the foundation» he said they don’t have split foundation on a full size (so there I’m losing 54.44 already) and he told me to call their customer care to check on that money different and theres also a different of 30 dollars between the queen and the full mattress which i end it up losing it too.
When the delivery came in with the full mattress and the regular foundation i called their customer care again a nice lady told me that i have a 74 and some change in credit so i went to their store to buy a small sofa but i had no credit with them after the lady told i had a 74 dollars credit.
After calling and checking couple times the unprofessional sales associate at the store was yelling at me on the phone and the way she spoke to me wasn’t the right way she basically wanted me to hang up the phone her name i think its Erica something like that.
The thing is i paid 423.52 for a full mattress and full regular foundation and i only have 10 dollars credit, if i could i would put cero stars i would not recommend anybody to buy here at the Flatbush av store in Brooklyn i lost 84 dollars and no one can explain it to me so if you want to loose your money a get treated like sh! t even if you’re paying for a service go there and ask for Erica the unprofessional sales associate.

I had an excellent experience with Bob’s Discount Furniture. I’m surprised to see the negative reviews others have given Bob’s, because I would definitely shop there again and recommend them.
I received great service in the store. A sales associate greeted me as soon as I walked in, and he offered to explain how their pricing options work, because I had never been to the store before. (I appreciated that help. I was looking for a sofa, and it seems all the sofas have different prices for different options, such as love seat versus full size sofa versus sofa bed, etc.) Then he left me alone to browse. I thought he struck a great balance of being helpful and available without being pushy.
The delivery went exceptionally smoothly — as good as it gets! I selected a morning delivery, and the delivery men came right on schedule, near the beginning of my 3-​hour appointment window. I would normally expect that waiting for a delivery would make me late for work, but not this time! The delivery men did a great job getting the new sofa up the stairs and through a narrow doorway. They were very efficient, polite, etc. I had no problem communicating with them, nothing was damaged, and I have no complaints.
I’ve only had my new sofa a few days, but so far I’m very pleased with the quality. And I’m glad to know that if repairs are necessary in the future, I don’t need to worry about that, because I got the warranty. It seemed like a good policy and a reasonable price to me. So I’m a fully satisfied customer.

Bobs discount furniture is the worst place ever. My parents and I went to the store and both sales women were really nice, enthusiastic and new what they were doing. We ordered 5 beds 5 dressers 2twin mattresses 2 screaming mattresses and 1 queen mattress along with some nightstands. They all had to be fully assembled.
Then there was the delivery service …
We had men come with some of our furniture not all of it and some refused to help move it. They didn’t even understand English. So UN order for us to have everything built and delivered we had 11 deliveries! And the newly painted walls were filled with scratches.
