Anyone know why it closed? This used to be my favorite place every time i go to Williamsburg.

Great experience here. I had my friends 30^th birthday here on Dec 13, 2014. I reserved the front part of the place. The staff there were so helpful and accommodating. I thank you guys again for making my friends birthday memorable.

They do not adhere to the advertised opening hours, so after walking for 20 minutes we came to a closed store.

This place was nice and cozy. It’s the perfect place to take someone to catch up and talk. Bartender was very friendly and received a dollar off my pint since it was still happy hour! I really like the cider they had on tap, dark in color and delicious! I want to go back and take a closer look at their selections. They all looked so good. I am pretty pleased with this bar!

We walked in because they had a $ 3 beer special from 1−7pm. Totally enjoyed the brown ale they had on special. Loved that they had multiple games to play. We tested out Jenga and words with friends. It was not too crowded on a Thursday night. After we left the bar the whole party was wishing that we’d bough a growler to go. Great place to catch a beer and hang out with friends.

Awesome selection. Reasonably priced growler fills and a great bottle selection that you can drink there, but they charge you an extra dollar if you want to drink the bottle there — I guess it’s not uncommon, but it doesn’t mean it makes sense. Everybody knows mo’ money mo’ problems, and yet, here we are.
The pretzels covered in cheese are delicious — but how the hell would they not be? Seems like a no brainer to me.
They have trivia nights as well. Happy hour specials, all that jazz.

Very good beer store. Friendly service. I’m a fan. Almost doesn’t feel like NYC or Brooklyn when inside.

Looking for a nice laid back night out with some friends and downing a couple beers? Breukelen may be your perfect spot. It’s almost representative of a coffee shop, but replaced with beers. There are several refrigerators with an assortment of imported beers located against one wall. On the other wall, are about 20 drafts. Flights are up for offer with 4 selections for $ 9, or you can get the draft special, which was Schlafly Dry Hopped American Pale Ale (APA) for $ 3 per pint when I had gone. There is also a small menu for those looking for a quick bite, such as bratwursts, pretzels, and cheeses. Growlers can also be purchased or you can bring in your own to be filled.
Once you grab your drink or opened a tab, grab a table in the front or back. You’ll probably wind up sharing a table with strangers as they are mostly large picnic beer-​garden style tables. But hey, the more the merrier! You may make a friend or two! Then choose from the many board games scattered throughout the establishment. Anyone up for Trivia Pursuit? Jenga? Uno? Scrabble?
It can be a fun night out of cheap beer without the huge crowds and rowdy ambiance found at a bar. Oh yes, I will be back to finish my game of Trivia Pursuit. My only gripe is that the place closes at midnight on a Saturday! Not too bad if you keep that in mind before you get there.

Breukelen Bier Merchants typifies much of what makes Brooklyn so special: diversity (to the tune of 500 different craft beers — wow), an individual feel to it and friendly, laid-​back staff.
My friend and I dropped by when it was pretty quiet (I’d like to sample the atmosphere when it’s busier), which made it easy to try each of the beers on tap. Needless to say we didn’t set about attempting to knock back every one of the 500 beers here, contenting ourselves instead with a flight of three of the beers on draft each instead. Definitely the stand-​out for me was a rich, coffee-​infused porter from Weyerbacher, a brewery I wasn’t aware of and for that reason alone I’m grateful to BBM for.
Then, when leaving the store a similarly-​tall gentleman there with his girlfriend spontaneously offered me a ‘Tall guy high five!’ Bonus! Ah Brooklyn, how I miss thee.

Quality beer & draft offerings in a place that doesn’t take itself seriously and isn’t hipster nirvana.
I love good beer, and I love places that offer good beer. Breukelen does exactly that in a somewhat convenient location when in that area or waiting to go dine at an overly full tiny restaurant in the neighborhood.
The bottle selection is pretty good and I have seen some lesser available items here on previous visits. No, you’re not going to find KBS growing dust but you’ll find winning items at reasonable for NYC prices. Whole Foods on Houston is a bit better, but for singles this place wins.
The draft though is really what sets Breukelen apart though. Quality offerings which I often have to look up on my phone on RateBeer, see a great score, and then order and consume with confidence and joy. For its area of town it’s probably the best beer option and nowhere as pretentious as Spuyten Duyvil (which I love as well).
Great beer at reasonable prices in Williamsburg — that gets 5 stars from me.

Uuber friendly staff, fresh local beer on tap and in bottles, and a nice place to sit down and enjoy it.

This is a little place with a nice selection of craft beers on tap, as well as bottled beers sold individually. There’s a relatively small bar with some tables and benches in the back.
There was a friendly bartender that was full of suggestions.
Grab a growler or some bottles to go. Or hang out for hours sampling a flight or two and playing board games with your friends! That’s what I did :)

We used to live down the street and loved coming in here for a beer on tap, special nights, stock up on rare bottles, etc.
We don’t live conveniently close anymore but still make it a point to pop in when we are in the neighborhood.
They always have unique pours on draught, have a wonderful selection of chilled bottles (that you can buy and take home, or buy and enjoy in a glass at a number of tables inside), and an assortment of other knick-​knacks (bought my man a brew-​at-​home kit for christmas).
The staff is always really friendly and knowledgeable. They also have special nights with reps from various breweries, different game nights, etc.
Definitely miss living in the neighborhood and coming here more often!

Breukelen Bier Merchants is a small, unassuming shop on the south side of the ‘Burg. I’d heard about it and had been meaning to stop in, and finally got the chance this past weekend.
As some of you may know (if you follow enough of my reviews), I suffer from craft beer boredom and am always looking for new, exciting beers. This place has a solid enough selection of beer from various parts of the world, but nothing that wowed me. Having said that, though, if you are a newb to the rapidly-​growing craft beer world, you will certainly enjoy and appreciate the selection.
I’d also had most of what was on tap but again, there is certainly something for everyone here. I filled a growler and the price was more than reasonable (I think the growler deposit was only $ 1 or 2, which is cheaper than WF). The girl working was friendly enough and told me about their loyalty card, in which you can receive half off your 12^th growler fill.
There are tables inside the store where you can drink what’s on tap… not sure if you can drink bottles or not (some places allow it, and others don’t).
If you like beer and you’re in the area, stop by. It’s small, relaxed, and unpretentious, which is exactly the kind of environment I look for when I drink my beer!

This is a great beer place for beer geeks and those trying to get into it. There is tons of seating for people to chill out and grab a flight (a sampling of four 2 oz. servings of beer). So far, it’s the best beer store/​sit down place in the area I’ve seen.
The bottle selection is not the cheapest I have seen, but it is quite large. There are even some rarer beers from Mikkeler and Evil Twin. Unfortunately, the beer selection is not updated on Beer Menus, but at least the tap list is.
They actually don’t have a bottling fee. I highly recommend looking through their selection in the refrigerators, grabbing a beer, and hanging out in the back with friends.

Really chill little spot, a little crowded near the middle of the bar for the purposes of a beer tasting (what I came here for) but happy hour beers are $ 3, and the beer selection is expansive. Not what you’re imagine a Beer hall to resemble as it takes on the personality of it’s owner. Yes, the owner is a lady… which is why this place resembles more of a pastry shop than a beer hall. But it’s got the beers.

Bruekelen Bier Merchants is a simple, no frills beer spot — really great bottles in coolers for mixed 6 packs or just a few loose beers, plus wonderful tap beers as well. You can even take a growler to go, or simply grab a seat, crack it open, and play some games or shoot the shit with some of your friends.
It’s friendly, relaxed, and above all, reasonable. Love the staff. Nice snacks to munch on, too.
Hang out with your friends and drink Trappist ales for what you would pay for PBRs in Manhattan! Win.

BBM is the Zooey Deschanel of beer places… cute and quirky (but in an endearing way like she used to be, before she just became annoying. I mean, please Zooey, put DOWN the ukulele!)
Anyway, this unfortunately-​named but awesomely cool place is kind of like a beer store with some tables and some snacks you can purchase. Bottle selection is outstanding and the staff is actually friendly and helpful rather than disdainful and surly, unlike a particular place in Park Slope whose name may or may not rhyme with Deer-​draft.
They have a nice variety of beers on tap so you can have a tasty pint (or smaller size) or fill your growler. I was there recently for a trivia night and that was a ton of fun. I am definitely going to take a beer club field trip to this gem on Grand Street.
Stop by BBM and you’ll feel right at home.

We were visiting NYC and decided to explore Brooklyn one afternoon, and discovered this place while walking. Loved it! We sat and enjoyed a flight of 4 beers. I like that you get to pick your 4 too. They have a nice selection of beers to choose from. They’ve created a nice atmosphere which seems to be hard to find in places that focus on beer.
Would def recommend for a cool place to come and try new beers or come explore to take some home.
