Brooklyn’s Fine Fare Supermarket

The location is convenient and they probably have what you need if you’re not so fancy. Like fruit or soda drinks. They recently got a new bread supplier and they’re pretty good.
If you’re here for real groceries and actually care about how much money you spend, prepare for your blood pressure to be elevated. Maybe 25% of the products here are price tagged. It’s never a good thing. This alone causes me to spend three times as much time in here than I would like (it’s ALWAYS freezing even in the summertime), flipping over every bottle of canola oil to see if one is tagged, trying to think if GOYA brand is more expensive than Crisco, etc. I’m not into gambling and I’d like this store to be more organized.
Also, if you ever buy product on markdown (they do have some good deals on off-​season beer, though check the label first since it may have expired… in 2014), pay attention to what the cashiers ring it up as since they will usually just scan the product and not see the reduction. We’ve had to go back a fair few times to get a refund because of my innocent, blind trust in grocery stores.
One plus is that tax is included in all the prices here, so if there actually is a tag on what you’re buying, it is really what you pay.

This was the worst checkout experience I’ve had in a long time. We payed with a credit card and the cashier fiddled with the credit card machine, opened the cash drawer, put my credit card IN the cash till, and proceeded to count money on top of the credit card in an attempt to steal my credit card. Even if this was just a ditzy cashier, this was horrible customer service and I will never visit this store again.

It’s a little crazy how items are more expensive here than what’s priced in Manhattan.
I suppose it’s the convenience, but is not Fine nor Fair for their consumers.

People seem to hate on it for their beer prices but as a local supermarket they have a ton of good stuff at great prices crammed in there. Staff have been nothing but friendly. Fast, efficient and a block away I love this place.

Beer hoarding, price gauging scum. Why the State Liquor Authority hasn’t shut them down for selling retail beer ought from elsewhere is beyond me. Cuatomer service is awful. Most beers are past their freshness date.

Horrible ownership and customer service. They also very illegally resell beer that they are not allowed too. Employees know very little, and are also exceptionally rude.

Zero stars for layout, you actually have to step over people if you want vegetables, or wait until the 1 person in the aisle finishes their selection. As the closest choice I can’t avoid it, but will stick to extreme emergencies.

Terrible business practice at this place. They supposedly support the drink local movement but instead Buy out all the beer from a local brewery and mark it up almost double the price. Beer that is clearly marked not for resale. Real shady operations and illegal business practice here. Avoid at all costs.

I’ve lived in the neighborhood for years and this has been a go to when hunting for harder to find beer. They have a really extensive selection. That said, their selection is too extensive and has recently featured illegal beers. They are selling beer illegally for huge price mark ups over what thing sold for at brewery only releases. If you want to support New York City breweries, don’t spend your money here.

Do not support them. They illegally buy and resell beer for a huge mark up. It hurts the local breweries and other local businesses. DO NOT SUPPORT THEM. Support your local breweries and local bottle shops that follow the laws and do not try to screw you out of your money.

Classic bait and switch via beermenus. List sought after beers for reasonable prices. But in reality they don’t even have the items in stock. Worst though is the sale of illegal beer bought from a brewery only release. Do not support this business.

Illegally selling beer at almost 2x markup. Beer is sold brewery only, and they send mules to pick up and stock shelves for huge markups. stay away from these people and do not give them your business.

Beware, they buy/​mule local beer that is not distributed to them and jack up the price by over 50%! Very harmful to the local beer community.
They are also advertising that they sell and ship this beer to out of state patrons which is illegal.

They are illegally selling beer. They go to breweries that are selling their beer that is not for resale and resell them to their customers with a large markup.

Do NOT spend your money here. They buy local beer that is not distributed to them and resell it at double the price. This is a terrible business practice and can really hurt the local breweries.

Any business that illegally sells a product (beer from Other Half Brewing in this case) at a giant markup is not worthy of anyone’s money, avoid this place.
UPDATE: This business continues to sell Other Half beer illegally despite messages from the brewery & being reported to authorities.
Any business that employs such questionable business practices is bound to repeat those practices elsewhere, I would not purchase any kind of food from such an untrustworthy business.

Great customer service from their craft beer guy Randy! Answered my million questions to arrange for a friend to pick up some beers for me and went out of his way to provide great service! Will be doing a lot more business with them in the future

All around solid grocery store. The beer selection is seriously extensive– an entire aisle devoted to microbrews and ciders. We attempt to try a new beer every time we go in, and have found some gems (the River Horse Pumpkin is my fall fave).
But BE CAREFUL — a lot of the beers aren’t priced on the bottle or even sometimes on the six pack, and I’ve wound up paying A LOT more than I ever would have, just because I wasn’t paying attention.
They also have a ton of pre-​cut/​packaged fruit, but it can be hit-​or-​miss. A few times I’ve picked up a package of mango, only to realize when I got home that it was completely unripened. Just buy the fruit at home and cut it yourself– it’s probably cheaper that way anyway.
