History

Established in 2004.

Bruno Grillo owner and color specialist has been coloring hair for the past 15 years. He has been fortunate to work with some of the Legends in hair. Oribe on Fifth Ave in Manhattan was one of my most exciting experiences. He did work on the movie Perfect Murder as well as worked with the director of color Michael Casey for years and got to experience some of the most famous actors in Hollywood. He also worked with other hair legends such as Oscar Blonde, Mark Garrison, Gizzell and Rita Hazon. These were all great experiences for him and allowed him to follow his dreams into Bruno Salon and Spa.

Bruno was able to take Manhattan and bring this quality of work to Bay ridge Brooklyn. He is a perfectionist and strives to satisfy his clients needs in every façade of his business. Hair color has allowed him to achieve and succeed in many facades of the beauty business, most of all the client comes first!

After graduating from New York City’s famed Fashion Institute of Technology, he worked at Mark Garrison’s posh salon on Madison Avenue and learned even more from hair guru Oscar Blandi and legendary hairstylist Oribe at his Fifth Avenue salon, where he worked on the coifs of oodles of celebrities including Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow, Viggo Mortensen, Tova Brognine, Bernadette Peters and more.

Bruno credits his success as a hair color specialties to consistencey and attentiveness to the lifestyle of his clients, which he deems to be cruical to the color selection process. He’s been rewarded with spots as a gues on the Martha Stewart Living radio show.

My mom and I had a really good relaxing spa time together at this salon recently. We did swedish massage and facial done for two. The lady who did my facial was very kind and gentle on me and gave a lot of advice on how to take care of my skin after I have explained her the problems I have with my face. At the end of our treatments, we were given a couple of lip balms and moisturizing facial creams as a complimentary.

I rarely write reviews for Unilocal (only my second one, in fact), yet I am motivated to do so for this wonderful establishment.
A year and a half ago, I purchased a Groupon certificate for a facial session at Bruno Salon & Spa. I experienced my first facial there and was so impressed with the results of their aesthetician, that I purchased right then and there three more sessions. Due to personal reasons, I was not able to use the purchased sessions within the year’s allotted timeframe. I called Bruno Salon & Spa and spoke with Carmen, the manager, who was so professional, compassionate, and understanding that she allowed me to extend my purchases beyond the one year time limit.
In the last two months, I have had one facial, one dermabrasion session, and one massage with a beautiful woman whose name is Ciomara. Not only is Ciomara’s work flawless and meticulous, but her energy and soothing spirit elevates each session I’ve spent with her. She is a beautiful soul and a true healer.
The atmosphere and condition in Bruno Salon & Spa is intimate and clean and supremely conducive for being pleasantly pampered.
The staff is welcoming and friendly and to top it off there are always delectable goodies offered gratis at the front desk.
I highly recommend Bruno Salon & Spa to anyone wishing to have a refreshing and beautifying experience.
I myself have scheduled two more sessions within the next six weeks, and plan to visit on a regular basis.

The blow out I received was def not worth the $ 47 dollars I was charged. Most expensive blow out I have ever had! Def will not be going there or that type of service.
On the other hand, the staff was amazing. Kind and great service. When it come to the Spa factor, I will def. recommend it.

I have received several massages and a facial. The services have been great. Four stars for the staff providing services.
However, the customer service is lacking.
Firstly, I had to leave three messages to confirm an appointment. My first message was very detailed and concise so I just needed one message to confirm. Also, I did not like the tone of the individuals leaving me messages. They gave me an attitude when returning my calls when they did not need to call me in the first place. Additionally, I have called during business hours and I had to leave messages because no one picked up.
Secondly, I was to receive a blowout and although there were stylists on site, I left without it because the woman scheduled to give me the blowout had an emergency. I asked why another stylist could not provide the blowout and the receptionist told me that it was the owners prerogative to only assign specific stylists to provide this service. I hope that this treatment is not because I am a Groupon customer (do Groupon customers deserve subpar service?).
Usually when a customer does not receive a service, the establishment provides a complimentary product or service as an apology, but I received neither.
Thirdly, I wanted to communicate with the owner before writing and posting this review so I decided to write to him by email via the website. The website was not working.
Three strikes and you are out.
I can go back and receive my blowout, but I am not sure I want to. I was upset already by the attitude given before my massage, but went anyway since I already bought the Groupon coupon. Now, I cannot help but roll my eyes when I think about this salon.

My wife and I went to Bruno’s spa and I must say they were very friendly and professional it was a well deserved spa treatment for both of us and our masseuses made it even better with they’re courtesy and friendliness at the end of our treatment Bruno personally introduced himself and made sure that we were happy and satisfied with our service and we were just want to say thank you we enjoyed and will be going back there again

I have been going to Bruno for hair coloring for years. He is great! I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I live on the Upper West Side. I travel to Brooklyn to have him do my hair.
He takes his time and does it correctly. He talks to you before to understand what you are expecting. My hair looks like it is naturally that color.
His highlights are worth every penny! If you are going to dye your hair or get highlights you owe it to yourself to get it done professionally. Get it done by the best!
I receive complements on my hair all the time! Go to Bruno and You will too!

My cousin got married this past Saturday and we all had our hair and makeup done here for her wedding.
I’m not 100% sure of his name, but I think it was Greg that did my hair, it was the only other guy working there besides Bruno. He did this awesome up-​do which everyone complimented. What i really liked about him was that he took his time, he did not rush and he made sure I was happy with everything he was doing. He was also hysterical and very friendly too which is a plus. Also, it was pretty windy that day and my up-​do didn’t budge — huge plus! Everyone in the salon did great hair and we were all happy with how we came out.
I also had my makeup done by Jovi and she did fake eyelashes. She did a great job too. She listens to what you want and is happy to change or add anything if you ask her to. She was a pro with the individual eyelash application too.
Overall it was a great experience and they made my cousin and her bridal party very happy on her Wedding Day. I’m glad we trusted them on such an important day. I would definitely recommend them.

Bought a Groupon for this place because it was in a convenient location. The groupon was for a Swedish Massage and a Seaweed Facial.
Made an appointment with a very polite and helpful receptionist. When I arrived the parking is street parking but really decent for Brooklyn. Some parts of Bay Ridge are just impossible but I got a spot right across the street right away.
When I entered the Spa I was greeted by the receptionist and was taken right away to the lower level where their spa rooms are. First impression everything was very nice and clean. Looked very high end. The massage room itself smelled clean and fresh. I was very pleased.
I’m very picky about my massage because I’m very sensitive so I’m always a little apprehensive when going to a new masseuse. Shirley though was great! The massage was so nice. The right amount of pressure and it felt like it went on forever.
Shirley also did my facial which was great. All the towels she used on me smelled of lavender. She was very meticulous when it came to cleaning all the gunk in my pores. When I left I was in a little bit of a rush but Bruno himself was there and he knew my name and asked how everything was etc. It was really nice.
And bonus! They did not try to sell me anything. All the other spas have always tried to sell me a bunch of stuff and I hate it.
Without the groupon their prices are still pretty decent especially for the quality. And they do have a lot of monthly specials! The location was already great for me. It’s so much easier then going into the city.
I will definitely be back and will taking a look at their other services too!

This is my go to place now (it’s very convenient being around the corner from me).
I went there initially to get a manicure pedicure a few years ago right before my wedding. They were meticulous about my nails; making sure they were perfect, and beautiful. The manicure lasted for more than 2 weeks!
as for hair cutting; i am lazy and don’t go as often as i should. but i use Rosa and she is a sweet heart. I also am not so meticulous about how my hair is styled. But this place works for me.
Everyone else is also very nice; the shampoo girl, the woman behind the counter. Very friendly, and sweet.
Price wise– seems just as pricey as any other nice salon. but again– all i know of is your standard cut and blow.

Got my haircut today with Rose — and love it! We started with a consultation where I was asked your basic questions — how do I wear my hair? what products do I use for styling/​washing? do I want to keep the same look or change? I felt the stylist was very attentive and engaged in good dialogue rather than just nodding along to what I was saying. The final outcome is a great cut, plus 2 product recommendations that I will be able to work into my routine. Would definitely recommend the salon to others — great atmosphere, expert staff, convenient Shore Road location.

I highly recommend this salon. I moved to Brooklyn 10 years ago and desperately need a full service salon that is not a store front without having to go to Manhattan on weekends. Bruno’s is perfect, you feel like family when you’re there not just the next client on the schedule. What I especially love is that Bruno is a true colorist, whether it’s my hair or the person sitting next to me, we always look amazing.

Last month I had the privilege of having Bruno color my hair. My hair was a mess.
My hairstylist of over 20 years moved to Las Vegas two years ago and I haven’t trusted anyone since. So of course I tried to keep it up with store bought products. WRONG! But enter Bruno and my color is gorgeous, and to boot the texture and health has come back. WOW! Compliments come daily and I gladly take them. Bruno is a master of color and I have vowed to not let anyone ever color my hair again, including myself. Thank you Bruno, you are my new hair hero.

Really happy with my experience here! I was in dire need of some color – my roots had well past grown out and being on vacation had lightened the overall color. I called at 9 on a Saturday morning and they were able to squeeze me a few hours later. The moment I walked in I was warmly greeted and my colorist was told I had arrived.
Loved Bruno! He took time to break out the swatches and talk through what I wanted and what he thought would work the best.
The only thing I wasn’t thrilled about was the charge for the blowout (half the cost of the color). Even though it was really nice, in my opinion that’s something that should be included in a color or cut service. Didn’t want to leave with a wet head or blow dry myself in the salon, so I opted in this time. Will be back for the color!

Thank god for Bruno and his talent when it comes to coloring hair!
This past Thursday, I had beautiful highlights and went to get a Keratin treatment at Giovanni Sacchi’s Salon after I picked up a Groupon. I left their salon with damaged, greasy hair and bright orange highlights which I had to be seen out in public with. When I called to get Bruno’s assistance to repair my locks, the receptionist quickly booked my appointment and I was seen this AM. Bruno took the time to explain what happened to my hair and offered solutions. I left less than an hour later with pretty, shiny chocolate hair and some highlights, sadly to get over the orange we had to go a smidge darker all around. Bruno explained this would occur before he attempted to fix the damage.
Bruno/​his staff are always welcoming, professional and accommodating. Prices are reasonable and the salon itself is upscale/​much nicer than many of the Manhattan places that charge a fortune. The place was buzzing with clients this morning but everyone was being taken care of in a quick manner and seemed very satisfied.
Glad I do not need to cover my hair with a hat when I go out tonight! Thanks so much Bruno!

very nice place. I go here like once a week because its a mile away from my school (FHA).
