I’m not into coffee but I love muffins. I’ve tried one thing here the blueberry muffin and I must say it’s the best muffin I’ve ever had in my 26 yrs of living. Also the décor is very easy on the eyes.

Great local coffee spot with reasonable prices. I love the vibe/atmosphere, it’s a great spot for hanging out with friends, reading a book or getting some work done. The pastries and coffee are always on point. I look forward to stopping in every weekend for my latte fix!

I hesitate to 5 star it because I worry it will get too crowded because this place is great. Friendly staff, good coffee, reasonable prices, a Metallica Pinball machine, not too crowded, free wifi. Hope they never change!

Great local coffee spot. Plus they sell dough doughnuts how can you go wrong. Love their cold brew. Baristas are pretty friendly and welcoming.

My roommate and I love coming here for their lattes, blueberry muffins and baristas. Really great service. My only complaint is that there are too many people working on their laptops in there :(

Unfortunately, I feel compelled to write this update. Coffee is in their name and their coffee is bad. It’s bitter, acidic and hard to swallow. I even have a free coffee coupon for Burly and I don’t want to use it. I recently purchased a bag of their beans, the dark sumatra, and either it was a dud bag or some of the worst tasting beans that have entered my apartment(read: worse than Folgers and/or Dunkin Donuts). My sister commented on how bad the coffee was… my spouse commented on how the coffee was nasty(and he’s no complainer)… there was no getting around it. I tried doctoring it with almond milk — but my glass still went down the drain. The baked goods(Monk’s Meat, Dough, etc…) are still good. But not the coffee.

Cute little coffee place in my neighborhood. Their ice tea is great as is their coffee. They have dough doughnuts and decent pastries. It really is just a coffee place, but glad to have it nearby.

Nice little place to grab coffee on the go. Simple and quick selections. It’s never packed and the people are usually polite. Great spot to chit chat.

Beautiful little spot in a neighborhood that’s changing fast. We stopped in for a mid-morning coffee to try something new and get a shot of caffeine. I love a business that ventures into the cold brew realm and Burly does a fantastic job. Dough doughnuts in the display case were oh so hard to resist… next time. Burly is a great place to hang and take up a bit of wifi. The shop is bright and open, making it perfect for a coffee date or a personal reading date. Oh, and two iced coffees later we were practically vibrating down the street. Do not underestimate the buzz!

I tried this place out a second time this morning and I was really impressed. The barista working was super helpful and made great suggestions. She got my coffee order right and was super friendly. I’m so glad they use metro chai, my favorite. A great way to start the day!

An update on a local hot spot. Burly has been here for a bit now and it’s perseverance is palpable as well as palletable. With the introduction of new baristas and now Kombucha from Brooklyn Kombucha, along with small sandwiches, this café is growing in its popularity. I return again and again on my weekends off to grab a quick cappuccino or a latte. The baristas have earned more skills, which has given a much better consistency in flavor. I’m not a huge fan of the cold brew, but I know there is a following for it. If you’re lucky you will get Maya who is an exceptional barista. Her drinks are deftly made with the skill you come to expect from a third wave coffee shop. Overall the décor is still developing, the coffee is solid, and the individuals who work there are friendly and engaging.

Neighborhood’s a changing, but that doesnt stop me from really digging this spot. The cold brew was right on, they serve DOUGH donuts(which are amazing btw) and the baristas were totally down to chat about their favorite coffee grinds. Good choice for a solid cold brew in BedStuy

This coffee shop is one of my favourite spots in my neighborhood. It great excuse to make a coffee run. The baristas are friendly and personable and their coffee and pastries are so good. I love the vibe every time I enter the café — simple, cozy, good music, and friendly atmosphere. I like that they have seatings in café for reading and laptop use. I live close to Burly and they got themselves a loyal customer coming back!

Coffee here is good but the donuts are $ 4. Dough donuts are $ 2.50 at Dough. I understand maybe a 50 cent mark up but $ 4? Also it’s so quiet in here literally everyone can hear your full conversation. I prefer places with music on the louder side because if I’m meeting up with a friend I don’t want everyone eavesdropping on everything I have to say. This place has potential, but It’s not yet somewhere I think of to meet with friends, even though it’s currently the closet spot to me.

I live a few blocks away from this place and it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite spots in the neighborhood. I like simple, and Burly does simple pretty damn well – cheap coffee/espresso drinks, a few pastries, nice and friendly atmosphere. I’ve been going here about three times a week for the past couple, really digging this place. Great job guys!

My parents live near by and it’s a great place to get some quietness and latte action in. One of their baristas is really funny and the rest are nice and friendly. The chai latte is crappy but their soy lattes are comparable to some of my other go-to coffee shops so I’ll continue to stop by. Also their frequent coffee card comes in handy!

Another awesome coffee shop in Besstuy. There are so many but Burly is a great addition due to its location on DeKalb. Many of the other shops are further down. They serve Dough doughnuts and Brooklyn brew. It has a very spacious and open feel with plenty of seating. WIFI and great lighting. A great addition!

Just stopped in here for the first time, and had a really pleasant experience. The woman who took our order was very friendly and personable, and the coffee was well-made. They also had baked goods from Ovenly in Greenpoint, which is always a plus. We shared a salted chocolate chip cookie that went perfectly with our coffee. The café itself is very well-designed and manages to be both cozy and sleek, with plenty of seating for laptop use. The entire front wall is made up of windows, making for a very positive atmosphere. I live a few blocks away and will definitely be back soon!

Cool atmosphere, never packed. Really like a holiday snow den in Aspen. Love the lighting. Pastries are ALWAYS fresh. They even have donuts from Dough so it saves you the walk(Eventhough you should probably walk after eating one of them.) They lose one star because as reviews have said there coffee items are hit or miss, I guess it depends on who your barista is.
