The food is amazing and the staff is super awesome. I’ve been here three times and each time the food is better than the the last time. This is definitely my new spot!

Waited about 20ish minutes on a Saturday around 8pm. It’s definitely a popular spot, so don’t plan your night around it or get too set on coming here as you might not want to wait. I recommend that if you’re in a party larger than two that you say that you can be seated in pairs, as there are only a few booths that can accommodate larger groups and you’ll be left waiting, and really, we’d all choose food over annoying ass Gina. Gina needs to calm down. The food is all very good. The Philly Cheese«Steak» tasted just like the real thing. Incredible, actually. The Mac and Cheese bowl was very big and filling, though you have to adjust yourself to that industrial«fake» cheese taste. I wouldn’t recommend that unless you’ve had vegan cheese before, as it’s a much different taste. No fault to the diner, of course. The Chicken Parm sandwich was very heavy(and lord knows how they make vegan chicken…) but it was also tasty. The milkshake was on point, though a sure calorie bomb that I can’t in good conscious recommend without a health warning. Service was friendly and attentive. It was relaxing and we could eat in peace despite the lines gathering outside. So, come back on an off-peak time(aka not at Sunday brunch because holy hell why would you do that to yourself don’t you have some pipe-shelving to build?), and poke around the menu. You’re sure to enjoy.

I love Champs!!! All your favorite all American foods, except without murder. The breakfast rules, slams & scrambles, sausages & bacon! Their cheesecake is uncanny, buffalo«wings» are awesome. Oh, make sure to get something with hollandaise. Adorable staff too.

WOW, after having this spot recommended to me by a fellow vegfanatic, and seeing 4 stars on Unilocal,I thought this was a can’t go wrong kind of place. I was WRONG. Every aspect of this experience was subpar. I ordered, a classc milk shake with sprinkles, the cajun fish sandwich, bacon chzbrg, and half bbq half buffalo wings. The milkshake was watery. The fish sandwich was just OK. Definitely not a 13 dollar sandwich. I really need to know, HOWDO U MESSUPFRENCHFRIES ?! The fries were soggy as all hell. Several were undercooked. The bacon chzbrg was my husbands and he really enjoyed it. The wings were edible… but not even close to tasting like chicken, i have had way better vegan wings(i.e the v spot and vegtarian palate) The best part of the meal was the ranch sauce that came w. the wings. The arnold palmer was also really good. The staff was oddly abrupt, border line rude. I ordered to-go but literally only drove 30 seconds around the block to eat in the car so the food was only 30 seconds from how it was given. There is way better vegan spots in brooklyn and some are much cheaper. This was a major disappointment!

Decided to try this place out. All the reviews I heard were so good I had to come. It’s a very cute black and white color small diner. Staff is so nice, nice cool AC and rock N’ roll music in the background. We started off with a root beer and a lemonade. The lemonade was good not sweet more on the sour side. We ordered a starter Nachos with cheese sourcream, black bean and jalapeños. This was really good. I wish the cheese had a thicker consistency. For entrée we ordered the Mac N cheese with bacon and broccoli and the enchiladas. Sadly to say but I was disappointed. The Mac N Cheese barely has any cheese and it just had a bland taste. The bacon bits were hard. The enchilada was too sour for me. I could barely eat it. I had really bad heart burn afterwards. But yet again I really don’t know what vegan food is suppose to taste like. Maybe I’ll come back and try something different.

So I went yesterday with my eldest sister who is not a vegan. She was starving as she trecked all the way from Port Jefferson LI to spend time with me in Brooklyn. I was just as hungry and couldn’t fathom eating at a regular diner. So I took one big step of courage and suggested Champs. I heard amazing reviews of this place and knew that’s what I had a hankering for. Maybe it was because Sissy was so confused with hunger and running on empty fumes, she reluctantly agreed. Well when we got here it was a cute clean establishment and we were about to be blown away by this amaze-balls food that had absolutely no meat in it. I had the chikn and waffle and my sis had the all out power breakfast called Pancake Slam. Let’s just say I cleaned my plate and Sissy savored every bite. It was amazingly good! She couldn’t stop talking about it while she was eating. And for a brief moment she thought about hanging up her carnivore apron. If you haven’t tried this place out, shame on you! You should!!! It’s all vegan… wish more eateries were like this for those of us who live a plant based lifestyle. Oh and by the way, there’s a sign outside that says, Death before decaf. Hilarious, my sister didn’t even want to ask for decaf but truly enjoyed the regular coffee they had. Caffeinated as nature intended. Now get up and go to Champs!!!

Very good. Especially for a non vegan. I had previously heard about this place from a former vegan bud. So while walking down Meserole to head to an event at The Well, i saw the diner and took note. As the event began I wind down, my friend and i were experiencing hunger pangs. We birth take out our trusty Unilocal app to view our book marks and I remembered walking by here. Cuts the food very yummy options on the menu. We opted for the seitan asada fries, «chicken» wings, Philly cheesesteak and the banana pancakes. I would have to say my favorite were those pancakes. They tasted so homemade and we’re fluffy and oh my, I’m drooling just thinking about them. definitely would go back. All the food options were good but for me them panny cakes woosh … They should stay open all night for them good ass pancakes! Lol almost forgot the wait staff is amazing. I think we had Rich or Rick. He helped us decide on our options rather quickly.

I walked in to this little diner hoping for some eggs and bacon. After going over the menu 3x over I had to face the the hard truth that this was a Vegan Diner. I felt like I had just invaded some uncharted territory. I decided to go for it and ordered the French Toast Slam. It was delicious I don’t know what the«eggs» we’re made off but they were delicious the little fake sausages were on point and French toast was pretty damn good. I am definitely coming back to give the lunch and dinner menu a try.

Bleh. Should have moved on when I looked for parking for 30 minutes. 2 breakfasts for $ 30. I had half cooked flavorless vegetables with potatoes that were not bad. Two pieces of ok whole grain toast. Tasted like like bad hippy food. My wife liked her tofu fake eggs and seitan with gravy.

Faves: Philly Cheesesteak(can be a little salty) and Chik’n Pesto I decided to give their breakfast a try today. I’ve been on this weird biscuit and gravy binge, so I ordered the biscuits and soy sausage gravy. It was meh. The biscuit was soft and fluffy but the gravy was a bit overpowered with sage. I wasn’t a fan of the home fries. I’ll be returning of course, but for my usual lunch entrees.

So I never knew this place existed until a fellow veghead put me on to it. Was I happy to have found Champs, it’s set up like a small diner and has a semi-retro feel to it’s space. I was so excited to try many things that my friend and I ordered a few things… tempeh wings, French fries w/bacon and cheese, Cubano sandwich, mac n cheese, BLAT and kale ceasar salad. Yeah we wanted to try as much as we could in one sitting… and boy our mouths and bellies were having a food party until we couldn’t stuff anymore in there. We ended up taking half of almost everything home as we duked it out on who was taking what since every item selected was yummilicious! I was happiest to take the mac n cheese and BLAT… ooohhh sooo good as left overs. Look forward to trying out some o their other delicious comfort items in my next visit.

This place is a little slice of heaven! Don’t let the crowd discourage you if you show up during peak times and have to wait. Just head outside and chat with everyone waiting — that’s what I did! I dragged my meat eating friend to the restaurant on the promise that she wouldn’t hate it. I’m happy to say I fulfilled that promise. The food was so good! Seriously, I crave my meal at least once a month and I’m all the way in Memphis. One of the few meat related foods I miss is wing sauce, so I went with the buffalo tempeh. Y’all, this stuff is seriously good! The sauce is perfect– lots of flavor with a nice, spicy kick. I also had the mac and cheese because… mac and cheese. It was creamy, delicious, and didn’t leave that notorious bad aftertaste that most vegan cheeses do. I can’t rave about this place enough! Go forth and eat all the things!

*NOWACCEPTINGDEBITCARDS* Amazing is not even the word. Non Vegans would like this place a lot. I Went on Unilocal to find some vegan places and found champs. I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak it tastes just like the Meat version. I was a little nervous because I love Philly cheesesteak and was unsure if the vegan version will work out and it surpassed. It was so good that I asked the bartender twice if it was vegan just in case she made a mistake. I was sooooo impressed that I went again the next day and ordered the mac and«cheese» with the amazing bowl. The food was so good I wanted to cry. Even now after work I have to ask«champs diner or gym». After this review i’m actually going to try and make there version of mac and cheese at home haha EVERYTHING is vegan ! The place is small so I think its best to go alone to get a bar spot. you will get a seat faster. Dropped your names down with the host and then step outside please the place is too small to stand by the door. xoxo c.

So the place is small and when I went for the first time, it was just us and two other tables. The location is also very odd(in the middle of a random block full of apartment buildings) The waitresses didn’t smile, they all seem to be in their own worlds, dazed out. The tables are SO small And cramped. The utensils weren’t the cleanest. The soda was terrible. The Diet Coke had the strangest taste. Then the regular coke was incredibly sweet(I cringed with every sip) and my boyfriend got the lime soda(same as 7up) but again, super sweet. 3 stars for the food. I got the country fried seitan which honestly didn’t have flavor. It was bland and the hollandaise sort of saved it. The lettuce was sad looking as well. My boyfriend got the breakfast burrito which he enjoyed. The starter which was fries with some seitan and sour cream on top was super soggy and SALTY. The only thing I did actually enjoy and didn’t leave one shred behind, was the salad with their lime vinigarette. It wasn’t terrible, but I probably won’t go back because it just doesn’t seem very inviting. There wasn’t an exciting upbeat vibe. It seemed very monotonous. I would still recommend it to any vegan just cause their food options are pretty cool.

Came in with my SO and we split the tempeh wings, tofu benedict, and Philly cheesesteak. It was all absolutely incredible. Tempeh is the *perfect* sub for wings — get outta here with your cauliflower bs! Champ’s does it right. The Philly cheesesteak actually tasted like CHEESE! I’m used to getting Daiya everywhere I go, and I haaate Daiya. The tofu Benedict will haunt my dreams. I’ve been searching for a good vegan Benedict for years, and this finally hit the spot. Love, love, love this place, I’ll be back next time I’m in BK.

THISPLACEISSOBOMB. I was super stoked to find out that there was a vegan diner somewhere in the world. Oh Williamsburg, you are funny. Having some dietary restrictions with meat, it was a thrill being able to order anything I wanted… bacon, wings, etc. Seating is a little squishy/tight. Usually a heavier crowd on the weekends so be prepared to wait, especially for Sunday brunch/lunch. I can’t leave without getting: –nachos– loaded w veggies, jalapeños, guac, and warm melty liquid gold vegan cheddar(major plus of vegan cheese, it never really hardens!) –tempeh wings– spicy but in more of an acidic Frank’s Red Hot way. Not too spicy at all tho. Major homerun. Dunk that gooshi in the delish blue cheese sauce. Offsets the spiciness. –bacon mac n cheese-perfectly cooked noodles smothered in that liquid gold vegan cheese sauce w specks of smoky bacon on top. The prices here unbeatable and the food is truly quality, I don’t feel like I’m at any old diner. Compared to other«holier than thou» vegan spots, champs is a fun and refreshing option.

I’ve been here 5 or 6 times over the past few years. I only come when my best friend(who is vegan) comes to town. He has nothing but great things to say about Champs. I understand that as a blood-mouth going to a vegan restaurant that I need to manage my expectations. I understand that this place has a ‘thing’ and that I don’t really care for that ‘thing’ at all. I go because my friend likes it and that’s it. I don’t care for vegan cuisine, especially things that try to imitate things that meat-eaters enjoy like burgers, bacon, and chicken. I like to try new things as often as possible. I don’t want to be the person who has an opinion on something I know nothing about, but I truly don’t find the imitation meats that Champs has to offer satisfying. At the behest of my friend, I’ve been adventurous and tried some new things. That said, the ‘classic’ burger falls apart and leaves a chemically aftertaste. The breakfast items are better, but the pancakes have a weird consistency. I’m sure the salads are great, because they’re salads. The food isn’t BAD, it just isn’t my thing. All the vegans I know adore this place with abandon. My biggest gripe with Champs has to be the noise, though. I know this is a place frequented by musicians and fans of music and this is a clientele that likes their music loud. I love the playlists, but I’ll be damned if I can hear ANYTHING across the table from my friend. The music, like the rent, is too damn high. I don’t just mean a little bit too loud, either. It’s actually uncomfortable. If this makes me old, okay. But when I’m going to spend some money to eat food I don’t particularly enjoy I at least want to be able to participate in a conversation without yelling across the table. Big points for amazing coffee, a sweet«Death Before Decaf» sign outside and VERY friendly and courteous wait staff. No problems there. I was happy to tip generously. I will never stop coming back to Champs because it makes my friend happy. I care more about that than some weird food every few months or so. But, pretty please, turn the music down?

Such a cool rare place. Stopped in here during a trip to Brooklyn, what a cool surprise! We got the mac and cheese, chickn pesto sandwich, and a philly cheese steak! The place was packed on a Wednesday evening, but my god it was worth it. My non vegan boyfriend remarked«If I had a couple of beers and nobody told me this was vegan I would never know!» It was so nice to enjoy some of my previously loved dishes in a vegan format. Cheers guys!

Good food, crappy service. Came in for takeout… sat at the counter & a few others came in after for take out as well. Funny thing is they were offered water & were treated cordially. Me? Not so much. I had to ask. Also, I was asked forced to pay ahead of time. Want to guess why they received better service? Guess only a certain aesthetic gets treated nicely.

I made the trek out here to in 3 °F(that’s –16 °C to the rest of the world) for an early brunch, we’re talking an 10:30AM brunch and holy crap, this place was packed with people waiting outside. My friend tells me this place is «vegan» and I roll my eyes wondering how good it could be. I walk into this retro-outfitted diner with wall-to-wall mirrors(great for checking yourself out) and sit down at a quaint table for two that are packed so closely together I can pick at the enchiladas off my neighbor’s plate. I pick up the menu and am taken aback by the multiple pages. I’m paralyzed by choice, and I don’t like going to restaurants where there’s more than ten breakfast options. Like give me a one-sheeter, execute on those dishes perfectly, and let’s call it day. I ask my friend what’s good and he suggests the milkshakes — I order the Strawberry & Vanilla milkshake and my friend get’s the S’mores(for $ 8 a pop). Holy dingleberries, is this stuff delicious. It does not taste vegan at all. I have no idea what sort of sorcery or voodoo is happening in my mouth but I love it. I order a simple Belgian waffle topped with whipped cream & fruit. Nothing to write home about. It was a very mundane dish. My friend orders the Chik’n & Waffles. Two drumsticks come out on top of his waffle and my left eyebrow raises wondering what the hell I’m looking at. My friend cuts into it and I CAN’T EVEN, there’s a piece of wood in there that acts as the ‘bone.’ I took a bite with the waffle and it was surprisingly good for being once again vegan. I’d keep forgetting this was a vegan-concept diner while here so that’s a testament to their skills at least. Our waiter came around with a basket of cheddar & chive biscuits and I snagged one and it was seriously hands down the best biscuit I’ve ever had. I was like, wait wut? Like, I can get vegetarian but what trickery is this that they created a delicious biscuit with fake cheddar. There’s no butter, shortening, lard, or bacon fat in this at all? You fo’ reals? The service was quick & friendly, and I’ll definitely be back(mainly because said friend lives like 20 feet away). I wasn’t wow’d by my main dish, but more so the beverage and biscuit.

I haven’t been moved to write a review in a long time. We trekked here from Queens, on a date with my partner. They told us to pick a small table and immediately they put water on the table. There are 11 small tables, a bar with 6 seats, and 3 booths. The bathroom is clean and hip. Music was hip, live Bowie. The waitresses were stylish, kind. White tiles and mirrors. Young hip looking people eating lunch. «Death before Decal» sign. Purple rain drink is carrot, beets, ginger and cucumber. Yummy. The food came quickly. I immediately traded a half fish burrito for the Philly cheese steak. Mind you its all vegan. Yummy. The fries had a chipotle mayo to dip. Yum. Cori said, they are perfectly salted and fried. I was too full to order anything else. Appropriate service. Total cost: $ 50 with tip.

The neighborhood is sketch, but go ahead and take the risk to enjoy some amazing vegan food. The food, ugh… the food! It’s just so good here. Our Cali friends came to visit in the fall and I had to find a vegan place for them, and came across this gem. Their mac n cheese made with Daiya(vegan cheese) was absolutely killer. The portions are a healthy size, and everything, though vegan, tastes delicious. Staff is friendly and the space is outfitted with a vintage them. the booths are really comfy and intimate. Its one of my favorite recent finds! And our vegan friends from the west coast gave their seal of approval, too.

Service is very friendly and the restaurant is nice; however the food is salty and disappointing. Champs is one of the few places in the neighborhood open before 10am. My husband got the biscuits and gravy and the gravy was basically inedible(way too salty) and his potatoes we quite burned. I found that strange because I got the breakfast burrito and my potatoes were fine. Food was very inconsistent. However, my meal was also subpar. The breakfast burrito was huge and messy(which I love) but it was mostly just potatoes wrapped in a tortilla with some sauce. Disappointing to say the least. We picked at our meals and enjoyed our time together but I think our server knew not to ask us for a box for the terrible food. Coffee was great. Service was fine. Restaurant is nice. Food is very bad. Don’t think I will ever return and I will definitely not recommend this place. Should have just waited for other restaurants to open up.

Champs diner, was a recommendation I found while looking on Unilocal for something close and well recommended close by. I entered and wanted to order takeaway, the place was really full, so I was stuck awkwardly looking at the menu as I leaned against the ATM machine in the front of the entrance. My instant thought was the price on the menu, was abit more than I expected. I have learned from past experience that full vegan restaurants tend to be abit pricey. I however continued to order as I was hungry and the food seemed to look nice. I got the chik“n spice burger with a milkshake. This cost me around $ 30(tips included) Which was a lot more than I have paid for a burger and shake in a longtime. However I thought it would be worth it. The burger itself was nice, and it was served with fries and a coleslaw but it was nothing out of the ordineray. I wouldn’t return at anytime soon to the restaurant as I think there is more competitive places out there with abit more to offer for my buck.

I’m not vegan, but went here with my friend who is and honestly, I couldn’t really tell that anything was vegan that’s how good it tasted. We had tempeh buffalo wings and I had bacon mac and cheese and everything was delicious. The interior is kind of small and you can’t wait inside, so if you go during a popular time, you’ll be stuck standing in the cold. The service was super slow today and it took almost an hour just to get our appetizers, but the food was delicious and worth it.

Vegan restaurant in diner style. Sounds great, but i would like to have more healthy options. This is great place if you miss meat and regular food, but i wouldn’t go here everyday. I would choose more healthier options. Basically its unhealthy vegan restaurant. Its a very cozy place, the stuff is very hipsterish and friendly. They don’t serve alcohol, maybe in the future. Overall 4 stars, because food is not that healthy. Otherwise its a great place.

Definitely one of the edible highlights of my time in Brooklyn. What a great place. I was in Brooklyn visiting family and friends for 10 days, and ate breakfast 4 of those 10 days. I went 3 days during the week, and then, its very easy to get a table, or sit at the bar if going solo. The final day I went was on a Saturday, and there was a wait, a pretty long wait just for myself, which I suppose is to be expected. I was able to be seated about half an hour after arrival. NOTE: If you sit at the bar, avoid the seat on the far right closest to the door. The pick up/to-go orders are placed right there, so people who order to go or picking up an order that they called in are right up on you. I had to actually move my plate and drink closer in to me because we were elbow to elbow. This was on the busy Saturday so this may not be the case on less buy days. The people taking out and picking up were uncomfortably close to me while I attempted to eat, and they stood there the entire time. All vegan, the breakfast was freaking awesome. The star of the show were the pancakes. They are made with oat milk which made them melt in my MOUTH! I typically do not eat pancakes unless I make them because they usually taste like Frisbees(I imagine Frisbees taste like bad pancakes), but glad I took a shot on these because they were absolutely delicious. The tofu scramble could have used a little something. It just served as filler on my plate, ya know – it didnt stand out, but I still ate the hell out of it. Lol honestly everything was just a wonderful compliment to those pancakes! Took a chai and sunflower seed muffin home one day and it was very flavorful. And last but not least, the

#This place is pretty good for vegan food. I’ve been trying to eat less meat now that I have gout. Usually vegetarian restaurants(ones with fake meat) gross me out, but the bowl of #Drunken Cowgirl(tofu scramble with chili over home fries) was tasty. First time I’ve had tofu eggs and vegan cheese to my knowledge. Not gross. I also saw J. Mascis walk out of here when I was walking in. Probably a #good sign.

I think it’s pretty safe to say that although I am not a vegan, I am no longer a stranger to vegan food. Since one of my best friends became a vegan, I have eaten at a decent number of vegan restaurants. I did not think vegan junk food that tastes better than non-vegan junk food existed, but it does here at Champs. My vegan friend and I arrived for a late dinner Saturday night, about 10pm. There were a good number of people still eating, but we were seated immediately. This place is like an old school diner. Black, white, and chrome are pretty prevalent in its décor, along with some hipster looking artwork. The staff was friendly, and was glad to answer our questions. The menu was a bit overwhelming because there was so much awesome sounding junk food she hadn’t gotten to eat since going vegan. Decided to get the chili cheese fries, chik’n pesto sandwich, and philly cheesesteak. The chili cheese fries were AMAZING. The«cheese» sauce is the best I’ve have ever had, second only to the cheese sauce at Mark. I could tell the chili didn’t have any meat, but it had very good flavor. It was like eating chili mixed with tons of salsa. The chik’n pesto sandwich had a lot of pesto sauce on it. It was served on their housemade bread with tomato and«mozzarella». The chik’n looked and tasted like a chicken patty from a fast food place, just that it tastes way better. Still tasted pretty healthy though, cuz it wasn’t at all greasy, and the bread was definitely some fancy multigrain. But the cheesesteak was greasy, cheesy, salty, fatty, and overall amazing, just like junk food should be. It’s better than a lot of real, non-vegan, cheesesteaks I’ve had other places. They probably use the same cheese sauce that was on the fries. The seitan is grilled and chopped to look like steak, except it’s better. Most other places use those frozen thinly sliced steaks that end up being dry. But the seitan here was thicker and not dry. I actually prefer this to most other cheesesteaks I’ve had, despite not actually containing cheese or steak. So far, this is my favorite vegan restaurant I’ve visited and I hope to come back soon. (500th review!)

I walked for 15 minutes to get here in the blazing hot summer time… and let me say boy was it worth it. We had a party of 6 and were seated pretty promptly. The waiters were all very chill and accommodating. The décor was very diner-y which is explained by the name. For my brunch I ordered the nachos with tofu scramble, guacamole, «sour cream», and«cheese». It really was quite yummy with a nice kick to it. The portion was massive and I found my jaws in pain from too much nacho chewing action. Disclaimer: I am not vegan. When the non vegan enjoys their vegan meal, we know we have a winner… or should I say a champ(s)!? I can’t recall if it was cash only… but I think it may have been.

Champs is a quaint little ALLVEGAN restaurant. This establishment is reminiscent of a an old 50’s diner with mirrors and booth seating. Walking in you’ll notice their delicious baked goods, some clearly marked gluten-free. A whimsical redhead summoned us to sit wherever we pleased as we walked up. She handed us menus and our own water carafe. Looking around, I fell in love with the art work that adorned the wall. My favorite being the ‘Hail Seitan’ sign. My boyfriend and I chose this place because of the vegan pancakes. But once he saw the menu he had a different agenda. He ordered the Drunken Cowgirl. I had a few bites and it was delicious but a bit salty. It may have been the vegan cheese(most vegan cheese have a salty taste) but overall was very enjoyable. I’m surprised I didn’t lose a finger or an arm as I helped myself to those few bites. I ordered the pancakes. $ 2 extra for some chocolate chips. Yes, some. But hey, I wanted to spoil myself. I also wanted whipped cream but the waitress said they were out. ‘We’ll double up on the chocolate chips’ she said with a smile. How could I resist? Well, it didn’t come with extra chocolate chips but the pancakes were good, for the most part. Two fluffy pancakes sat upon the third, also fluffy and burned pancake. I can only assume that the third one was purposely hidden on the bottom, away from view but I just didn’t eat all of it when I found out which was the burnt culprit. I love Champs. Its as hipster and vegan as it gets these days. It loses a star for the burnt pancake and overpriced chocolate chips but overall, I highly recommend it! The staff is nice and there is such a huge variety of food: breakfast, lunch, smoothies, dessert! The prices are affordable and this establishment definitely deserves a visit!
