Chan Yang Garden serves up a typical American-style Chinese food menu, and does it well. The food is always fresh, well-cooked, and flavorful. Just a very good, standard takeout place. The only thing I don’t care for is they use something unusual in their wonton soup broth — jasmine or lemongrass or ginger — something like that. Not bad, just not for me. I’ve only eaten there or picked up takeaway, so I can’t speak to delivery, but they are usually quick even though they always seem busy.

My reviews are usually fun and lighthearted, but I think it’s important for me to put this out there. This evening, I ordered dinner from Chan Yang Garden via Seamless. Seamless has a new UI, which is gorgeous, but as with any new launch, there are bound to be bugs. In my case, when I placed my order, at checkout, I added at 15% tip. Unbeknownst to me, the tip was dropped by the interface as a bug. It wasn’t until I received my food and signed that the delivery dude decided to grab the signed piece of paper from my hand, and yell at me in broken English, «GIVEMETIP!!! GIVEMETIP!!!» I stared at him in horror and confusion. «I put a 15% tip on Seamless.» He shoved the receipt in my face and pointed to show that there was no tip. I shook my head and said, «That’s really strange. There should be a tip.» I tried checking my order and saw that there was no tip. Annoyed, I told him, «I can totally call Seamless and have them adjust to add a tip. It must have been a bug, but I definitely did add a tip.» He glared at me and started screaming, «GIVEMETIP! GIVEMETIP!!!» He even tried to corner me. At this point, he refused to give me my food, even though I told him I’d be willing to call Seamless to rectify the situation. After a few moments of this awkward struggle, he decided to give me my food, but not without muttering under his breath and giving me one last glare before turning around and hopping on his bicycle. Frankly? I was APPALLED. I always give a tip, even when I’ve received poor service. In this case, the service was appalling and no tip should be given. No one HAS to give you a tip, so that reaction was unwarranted regardless of the situation. But in this case, when I’m telling you that I’d like to work with you to rectify the situation and all you do is scream at me? Oh no. Bye Felicia. I called Seamless and told them of the situation-to which they empathized and offered a discount off of a future order. But you can be sure I will NEVER be ordering from this place again. Totally disrespectful and disappointing.

After an hour of waiting, I called to ask where the order was, and their answer(sans apology) was: «too busy. Not now…» So i asked how long and they said 15 minutes. 15 minutes later, still no food, and asked for another 15. That’s when I cancelled. Avoid at all costs.

Finally!!! Hands down the best Chinese take out in Brooklyn I’ve had. Huge portions, fresh quality ingredients, and they always hook it up with some free drinks. Have tried pretty much every take out spot in my area and this one is the best. Delivery was super slow the first time I ordered but lightning fast the second time around so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Some of the dishes can be a little on the sugary side so choose wisely and try to order something that isn’t sauce heavy if that’s not your thing.

I used to be a faithful customer. Tried to tell me I had to pay tax on my food. Not going there anymore. Find another place for takeout.

Best American Chinese food in Brooklyn. Their Singapore fried rice noodles(w./ extra curry powder) and orange beef(extra crispy) are my favorites. My wife loves their wings and string beans with brown sauce. Upon speaking with the owner of the place about why their orange beef is so awesome, I learned that they spend, on average, 25% to 50% more on their ingredients than competing Chinese restaurants in order to make sure they serve the highest quality food possible. I am really glad and thankful to have this restaurant in my neighborhood. I know I can always count on it to get delicious and cheap American Chinese food.

First time ordering and will definitely order again. I generally don’t care for Chinese food, as it’s usually too greasy, too salty, or the meat is of too low quality, but our delivery was quick, fresh, and piping hot. I had the General Tso’s chicken and an eggroll, would definitely recommend both. My boyfriend’s Hunan Chicken was a little bland, so we probably wouldn’t go for that again. Best wonton soup we’ve ever had.

I’ve been here a few times, typical Chinese take-out spot. Food has been good. One thing that I have seen here that I haven’t seen elsewhere is the General Tso Half Chicken… very good variation on the normal General Tso dish.

This is our go to Chinese restaurant. We order from here at least once a week and while we have tried a lot of the other chinese restaurants in prospect heights and park slope we keep on coming back to Chan Yang for more! The portion sizes are pretty big and great value for money. Delivery is fast however the wait isn’t too long if you decide to pop in and order instead. Our favorites are the sesame chicken, beef with eggplant in garlic sauce, moo shu pork and the hot and sour soup. Also, the egg rolls are pretty good too! All the dishes we’ve ordered have been pretty awesome; lots of flavors with just enough sauce to ensure good rice coverage. Try it and you won’t be disappointed!

I guess Ill stay on the black with my reviews. Best Chinese food I have found in Park Slope. I have tried almost every place. This place may look like a normal hole in the wall chinese spot. But it is much much more. Try the Boneless honey pork ribs! Cash only and they have earned the right to be.

I’ve never been inspired to write a Unilocal review until this very moment. Chan Yang Garden graces my coffee table with their delicious vegetarian and veggie meat options multiple times per week. Their vegetables are consistently fresh and every time I order the steamed Vegetarian Chicken with Mixed Vegetables and brown rice, a line of dancing, sparkly chopsticks comes to life in my tummy to celebrate. Add a bit of spicy mustard, and it’s a perfect anytime food. The food is never too greasy and the prices are quite reasonable. On the plus side, my roommate swears that their Sesame Tofu with veggie fried rice and a coke is the absolute, indisputable greatest meal on our humble planet. Many of our friends in Crown Heights will sometimes pause their trip on the 2⁄3 at Bergen St, order and pickup dinner, then continue home. I raise my glass to you, Chan Yang. Thanks for the free Root Beer.

What is with these awesome reviews? I ordered lunch based upon them and am very disappointed. My tofu is not crispy, the sauce isn’t very tasty, the fried rice is that lame yellow kind that has never seen the inside of a wok and the chicken in the fried rice is practically undercooked. Like it was blanched. Also why is the filtered review filtered? That was information I would have liked to have before I ordered. God.

After being totally let down by all the Chinese joints in Brooklyn Heights, I was finally glad to stumble upon Chan Yang Garden, which is a short train ride away from our place and serves surprisingly good American style Chinese food. This place is nondescript and located near-ish the Atlantic Terminal(between Boerum Hill and Prospect Heights) in Brooklyn. They mostly do take out business, but they do have a few tables for those who want to eat in. So, how was the food? IMHO, to qualify to be a good American style Chinese restaurant, you gotta be able to stir up some awesome Beef and Broccoli, Chicken Lo Mein, and General Tso’s Chicken… and you gotta have tasty egg rolls! Well, I didn’t try their General Tso’s Chicken, but I did try all of the other selections, and they were all tasty. The beef in the Beef and Broccoli could have been a bit more tender… and the Chicken Lo Mein was not as spicy and flavorful as I like it, but both dishes were above average for what I’ve found in Brooklyn so far. As for prices, Chan Yang Garden is inexpensive. That was another plus!

This has surprisingly become my neighborhood Chinese food joint. I normally stay away from places that have pictures of the food up at the front, but the food here is pretty good. The place is clean and I find that they make the food to order, so its very fresh. I’ve ordered both delivery and have gone to pick up, and they are friendly and quick. A good number of people come in to do pick-up too(it’s nice that it’s right by the train station). My favs from there are the chicken with garlic sauce which has a nice amount of spice to it, beef with broccoli, lo mein and even fried sweet plantains. The food is not greasy too which is a huge plus. The free soda(even though I’m not a soda drinker) is a nice plus too. Prices are good for the amount of food they give you.

Perfectly acceptable, maybe even slightly above average, reliably unambitious takeout Chinese. Not too oily or heavy, at pretty standard prices. The store is a bit cleaner than you might expect from a place like this, too – and the staff a bit friendlier. Our total came in at like a dime under the amount needed for a free soda, but the guy just smiled and happily asked what soda we’d like. This instantly cast me into a five-second abyss of stammering, unable to remember the name of a single soda due to the sheer surprise of what just happened. I mean, I know we’re only talking a 10-cent difference, all for qualifying for a free can of Coke, but I don’t think it’s entirely hyperbolic for me to say that as far as the Chinese food service community goes this is basically the equivalent of donating your kidney to a stranger. I seriously will be giving my business to this place again just because of this small unexpected gesture, and I barely even drink soda.

Ordered for lunch the roast pork and vegtables. It had really good flavor and not a lot of oil added. Mainly steamed with a good brown sauce and a good mixture of veggies. Also with it came the veggie fried rice. It also had good flavor, and not too salty. I liked the wonton soup, it was very flavorful. The lunch special is affordable at $ 5.25 with enough for dinner or lunch the next day if you are a light eatter. I say it is pretty good for basic carry-out. They have vert good prompt delivery.
