Chance Asian Bistro & Bar serves delicious pan-​Asian cuisine in Brooklyn, New York. Some of our favorites include our savory rock shrimp tempura, delicious dim sum, and the amazing house Peking Duck. For those with a sweet tooth after their meal, our chocolate soufflé and green tea crêpe are scrumptious.

Step into Chance Asian Bistro and you will love our atmosphere. Through the dark glass door and giant street side windows, illuminated under the paper lanterns and exotic décor, you will experience the most popular and exciting restaurant on Smith Street. We have seating for up to 30 in the main dining room, and our bar area can fit 10 people as well. We have a great drink list, offering beer, wine, and a full bar — our mojitos are fantastic!

We invite you to come and snack on our unique dim sum or have a tasty appetizer. Sip on our special cocktails, relax with old friends or meet new ones. Impress a date or plan a party, it won’t be taking a «Chance» to dine with us!

Established in 2004.

Chance Asian Bistro & Bar was founded in 2004 with a vision to serve the finest pan-​Asian cuisine in the Brooklyn area. Our talented kitchen strives to prepare the most delicious food, from our spicy miso Chilean sea-​bass to the traditional favorite Peking Duck. We have been focused on providing great customer service from the beginning, and our friendly staff will tend to all of your needs when you come dine with us. Ordered late night delivery from this place. The speedy delivery was the best part, the food not so much. The food seemed to have a funny after taste to it and i couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. I ate my fried dumplings, but not the fried rice with chicken. Hard to get used to expensive NYC prices, seemed a lil high for what i ordered.

Amazing drinks. Sake berry martini is amazing! Duck nachos are awesome for an appetizer and also salmon sesame that has a bite. Also tried pork, shrimp and chicken dim sumacs was delicious!!! I ordered a lot of small things to get a taste and was not disappointed.

I enjoyed most the dishes my friends and I ordered. We ordered steamed shrimp dumpling, steamed sticky rice with chicken and shrimp, and steamed chicken shu mai dim sum. My favorite was the sticky rice with chicken and shrimp. I had the teriyaki chicken lunch box with jasmine rice, salad (I didn’t like the salad dressing, most of us didn’t), shrimp spring roll and the wonton soup. Small portions but enough to fill us. I had the tiramisu, was delicious. A friend ordered the ice cream sampler that was good. Chocolate ice cream is the best.

They just started to deliver via seamless (at least, in my hood) and the delivery was fast, the wok ginger chicken was tender & delicious, and the roast pork buns were great but on the small side. Love having another delivery option for Chinese food!

Been hanging around Smith street for a while and never tried this place, so I tried to take the chance (yes I said it). I’m glad I did. The food was really good and I particularly loved the Fried tofu which i think they should start calling «tofu nuggets». Thw happy hour sangria were really good too, specially the hot one which had a nice coconut flavor.

We ordered delivery tonight and the meal was inedible. The calamari was so salty we couldn’t eat it, and my finance’s «crispy duck» was deep-​fried and mushy. We stopped eating and ordered Mexican. Not sure if we ordered the wrong things or if it’s better on-​premise, but I’d skip the delivery.

Food is amazing. Service sub par. Our server offered us cocktails but when we ordered them (we were the only guests in the place) he told us there was no bartender available so they couldn’t serve drinks. None of the 3 people working could make the drinks i guess. We ordered duck spring rolls, they were out of them. Ordered meals, server didn’t order my friends and when we asked he said «oh you want them together? «yes, of course we do. 2 people, two meals. Good food though, just needs fine tuning in service

they forgot items we ordered, delivered a wrong entrée, were rude on the phone and the chance chicken and crispy noodle dishes tasted like dirty socks and dog food. They refused to reimburse what they didn’t deliver (insisted on a credit which we refused bc the food was horrific and will never eat there again).

Had dinner here late on New Year’s Eve. The menu was pretty large, but because time was limited (again got there close to closing) my friend and I could try a lot.
That said, what we did have was good. And the service was good enough to make me want to come back and check out the rest of the menu.

Very good food — inattentive service. We ate there mid Sunday afternoon and there were few other people in the restaurant. It was nice not to be rushed, but we had to ask to have our water glasses refilled, when our server stood there. The sea bass and duck were good enough for us to consider returning.

We decided to go out for an Asian Christmas dinner at Chance. The food was average, drinks below average, service above average, and ambience not good. On the positive side, the tofu and eggplant was a nice dish. The Korean-​style short ribs were decent, while the Chance Rice Noodle (with shrimp and chicken) was not good. Cocktails were generally too sweet; in our case the bartender was overly aggressive with the lycée additions to the house versions of two classic drinks: sangria and mojito. The music was a strong negative, with rather loud house/​trance music playing in what seemed like a place where diners came to relax and chat. Similarly, the seating for many tables was awkward, with weirdly shaped pillows and tight corners and walls. We will not go back, but would not fault someone who did.

Meh, I was wanting thai grid rice but they don’t offer a vegetarian option so I went with the regular fried rice and left a special instruction to make it spicy as customer had recommended on a previous review. They didn’t make it spicy and it was bland and the portion was smaller than most thai/​chinese restaurants in the area. They included a side on chili paste and horseradish. I used all of the chili paste in the fried rice and it still wasn’t spicy. I also got two orders of vegetable pot stickers (pan fried) as another customer had recommended. I could tell they used fresh ingredients but the text wasn’t crispy like I saw in one of the photos. This place isn’t bad but it is definitely lacking in flavor for the most part. I’m disappointed I spent $ 20 dollars and still feel hungry. The delivery guy was on time and friendly.

I went there to celebrate my Birthday on Friday Oct 30th. the crowd was nice and the food was great. Our table was reserved so we were seated in a matter of minutes.
I enjoyed my lychee sangria along with the appetizers .the rock shrimp, the ribs, the chicken lettuce wraps were goood. As far as dinner, since we were on a time schedule, we didnt get to eat it. We took it to go. And man o man, my Ginger chicken with the jasmine rice was on point. the Chance chicken according to my bff was fantastical. Will be going back AGAIN :0)

Unpretentious atmosphere and good vibes. Oh, and the food is pretty good too. I tried something new on their menu and fell in love with their Spicy Miso Chilean Sea Bass. Nice portion size and seasoned very well with great texture, the filet is accompanied with string beans. I wouldn’t recommend their Chance spare ribs as it was mostly big bones with no meat – though seasoned well, it left you feeling cheated.
You must not leave Chance without trying their lychee nut ginger sangria. If you dare go for a second round, call a cab.

We had dinner and drinks sitting at the bar. I had the peach sangria and my boyfriend had the chance mojito, both were spectacular.
For dinner, I had the miso sea bass and he had the short rib these two dishes were also delicious, but what really made our night special was the service.
The bartender, Edgar, helped us pick our drinks and dinner selections, he was attentive, enjoyable to talk to, and didn’t bat an eye when I asked to substitute my veggies for another option and requested additional rice.
Service goes a long way and we will certainly be back to see Edgar again! Thanks for making our night great. — oh and the fries green tea dessert WINNER!

This place is pretty authentic in term of Asian food. The pan fried dumplings are homemade and you can tell. Not the frozen stuff Spice serves. I had brunch there and I was very impressed. The price for lunch was very affordable. Good fun and great value. What else you can ask for? Will go again soon.

Doesn’t the taste of fresh seafood scream SUMMER? Or no? Anyway, my mouth watered as I read the items featured in the Ocean box. I ended up ordering take-out.The food came in a huge bag, but the food itself was… very small? The ocean box contains 4 different types of seafood dim sum, two of each. They are actually, very delectable. The sauces are pretty spicy, so if you are looking for that extra kick, go for it. The only knock for me was the price; it came up to around $ 14 and was more of an appetizer than meal. If the Ocean Box was half it’s price, it would have been even better.

So I can only be a judge of their drinks because I didn’t have a chance to eat here. I’ve had the mango mojito and it’s super delicious and strong and that’s just all you can ask for in a drink. The bartender is super awesome once you start talking to him. He gave us complimentary drinks during our visit here which is of course the best. The service and atmosphere is really chill and a great place to chilllax and enjoy yourself subtlety !!!

After raving about the food at Chance, my friend and I came here for dinner last night. The waitress from last time, Katie, recognized me, which I thought was really nice. When we ordered drinks, I insisted that my friend try the sake mojito that I’d been going on and on about… but the waiter (Fan, like Katie, was also super friendly) told us it wasn’t on the menu. Turns out the chef, Ahfan, had made it especially for me last time. And guess what? Like Katie, he also recognized me. Before I knew it, we were surprised with two sake mojitos at our table. I can’t believe Ahfan went out of his way to do that; seriously, if that isn’t amazing customer service, I don’t know what is. It made my night.
My friend loved it as much as I did and told them it needs to be put on the menu because it will be a huge hit with customers. The food was just as great as last time.
Great food, amazing staff… I’ll definitely be a frequent regular at Chance from now on.

Not much to complain about this place but also not to many things to awe about as well. Its in the same area as JOYA for those who know this place and it almost felt like they replicated JOYA a bit. Trying to achieve the same success. I believe they have done so. The place was busy throughout our whole time being there.
The main courses were so so and their were differentiations in portions which I found weird. I am used to places either having large portions, average or small. The sesame chicken had a weird taste to it and portion was small. The peking duck was pretty good. Other things in pictures were average. Its worth trying and going once in a while when suggested but not a place I will pitch people on the regular.
The service was below average and that is the primarily reason for the 3 star rating rather than the 4 star it actually deserves. The waitress planned out the ordering poorly which we had discussed with her while ordering. The entrees took extra long to come out. The drinks were pretty good but way over priced for a place like this.
Half of us were drinking tequila and the other half were drinking vodka at a point one of the rounds they screwed and pretty much forced all of us to mix which is not good at any times for those who know a thing or 2 about drinking alcoholic. After we were done I wanted another last shot and approached the bar to purchase the last round but made a joke to the bartender that this last wrong should be on the house due to the earlier screw up and he made a rather rude response and charged me $ 50 for 4 shots which I think was wrong and over priced. But it is what it is. That experience left a sour taste in my mouth.
Worth trying for a variety but beware of the slow and rude service!

I am sure that in their menu there are dishes that I will love, from the pictures I would say so. But my first experience has not been as exciting as I was expecting.
Why?
Well, that day I woke up dreaming of Dim Sum. A serious Brooklyn-​Chinatown Dim Sum. I have already tried a couple and was deciding, with my husband, which one to try this time. «…This, that, no let’s go there, come on let’s try this, uff let’s go to the same of last time…»
After half an hour and no parking spot at the place we had chosen, we decided to go back and closer to home, and try Chance Asian Bistro. Seems they have Dim Sum too!
26th of December, Lunch time, quiet day, few people.
Of course, we order Dim Sum. A nice mix of 16 pieces.
Unfortunately, disappointing. All missing juiciness and freshness, almost all lukewarm, and with a pretty chewy dough. Some of the filings were nice, but not even closer to the Dim Sum I had been dreaming about.
The Chance style noodles were good, it is a kind of Singapore Mei Fun which I usually like to order. These were juicy and tasty, a good choice.
Service…too slow, it took a while to get anything, from the order, to the dirty plates taken, to the check.
Come on guys, I am sure you can do much much better!!!
