Very bad experience in China new star, Brooklyn, New York. Was rushed out after spending a lot of money for my sons 21 st birthday. Very nasty. Watching over us and looking at their watches constantly. Manager, Danny did absolutely nothing to help us. We were a party of 13 with two little children. There was also another couple there who was not rushed at all. Very upsetting. Would not go back. Waiter was a horrible too. Food was just okay, nothing to brag about. Made my and my family’s night miserable especially my son. Could not even open gifts happily. My stomach was turning.

I was driving my Mother home to Brooklyn on Mothers day after a long day with family and everyone was hungry. Sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the belt parkway only made us hungrier. My Mom suggested this place because she has been there before and remember it being very good. When we arrived, we were advised it was a 45 minute wait, we decided to complete an order to go thinking it would be quicker but after about 20 minutes, we were seated. The place was very crowded and the room smelled so good. We ordered a Happy family, boneless rib combo, pepper steak combo, Chicken and broccoli combo, soup and Hawaiian beef appetizer. Also ordered 2 Long Iced Teas which were a bit more citrus taste but very good, Let me say my son and I always love trying boneless spare ribs when we try different places and the ribs her were soft like butter with the greatest taste. I ordered the pepper steak but of course had too help myself to my sons plate, lol. The soup, the rice were fantastic, the Hawaiian beef was soft and tasty. The portions of the food were fair considering the price was more than we are use to paying in Nassau. Everyone enjoyed their food. They brought us a big dish of ice cream for everyone for dessert. We even placed an order to go for Monday lunch and or dinner. We will definitely return to try other items. If you are looking to try some better quality Chinese food than just your standard take out place, this is a place to try.

Chinese take out the way it should be! Wonton soup is delish and on point! Fave Chinese take out. We enjoy dining in as well even though it gets busy at times. Food is fast and fresh each time.

My favorite Chinese restaurant in Brookly and has been a rock solid dining destination for generations. The food is consistently delicious and amply sized and the staff always courteous and efficient. The décor is simple, atmosphere is family friend and can easily accommodate large dinner groups. The drink menu is not excessive but again amply poured. This is the go to location when Chinese cuisine is what you’re after in Brooklyn.

China new star is the best chinese period. I grew up in the area, ive had others. No one makes better sesame/general tso/orange chicken period. But theres more-home made duck/mustard sauce and fried noodles for the table-top notch. Vegi dumplings-awesome! And the chicken and broccoli are sick as well. U wont regret this staple institution of asian in bklyn!

China New Star used to set the standard for Chinese food., but now they are skimping. The wonton used to have meat in them now its mostly dough just like the fried wontons, and the egg rolls are refried very oily and the duck sauce was watered down. . Us hard working Americans don’t mind paying for good food providing we get what we paid for. they think we wont notice, but we do and we vote with our feet. I know the economy is bad, but that’s not the reason why the restaurant is almost empty. if you would go back to the way you did business before you will have lines out the door once again. If you don’t you wont have a business much longer. this was not the first time I received subpar food. I have given this business several chances… sorry im not coming back again.

Nice to still have a sit down Chinese restaurant to visit. Waiters are either happy to see you or annoyed that you came in, but the teapot and food are always enough to make us stay. Tip: make sure to go during lunch hours, prices are drastically lower. I believe they run until 4 pm but not offered on Sundays.

I’ve lived in the neighborhood my whole life and China New Star was always my go to Chinese restaurant for takeout or dine in. The place has looked the same for years, its décor is really outdated but I’ve never have a problem with the cleanness, and that’s one of the most important things to me. I came in on Monday night and did the dinner for two for $ 40, you choose an option from group A and group B, and it also includes soup, and appetizer, rice and a dessert. We chose the chicken with broccoli and sesame chicken with brown rice as the entrees, we both also got a wonton soup and than these beef empanadas as an appetizer which were actually really good surprisingly. The food here is good, but I think the quality of it had changed in the past few years and it’s just not the same. They do bring out a tea pot of Chinese tea to the table which I do love, and they have the BEST crunchy noodles that they bring to the table with hot mustard and duck sauce on the side. For dessert they offered icecream or pineapple. I opted for the pineapple and it was pineapple from a can which I wasn’t expecting. Overall the food and experience was good but I wouldn’t be running to come back here.

Best Chinese food in the 5 boros in my opinion. Noodles and duck sauce are amazing on their own. Dine in and take out/delivery are two different experiences but they’re both phenomenal. Dine in portions are huge and there always seems to be extra food ordered. My favorite dishes are; Egg rolls Beef on a stick Won ton soup Beef fried rice WorHip Dumplings Beef LoMein Pork ChowMein Sesame Chicken Bone in Spare Ribs Just to name a few… Service is… interesting. The guys have been there forever and seem kind of uninterested but they never miss a beat. I find the service endearing. Never had a bad experience. China new star, keep up the GREATWORK.

Convenient Chinese and my son us addicted to their chicken noodle soup but otherwise most dishes here are pretty much bland and mired in the usual brown sauce. Chinese vegetables were a soggy mess, sweet & sour chicken fried balls of hard chicken, the lo neon is salty, the boneless pork decently flavorful but a weird pink color and too fatty. People come here in droves I’m not sure why. Other than the soup, I’d stay away.

Meh. Overpriced chinese food. Dining room is old school. Service is old school too. But nothing special to support their prices for me. With sooooo many other places in the area, I don’t know how they do it. Whatever they’re doing right for someone else isn’t doing it for me.

The best Chinese food in Brooklyn, hands down. The dining area is spacious and clean; the waiters are very attentive from the time you sit down until the time you leave. Everything is fresh and steaming hot when it gets to you, but my favorites are: egg drop soup, pork lo mein, sesame chicken, general tso, and pork fried rice. Also, their duck sauce is AMAZING. I wish I knew the brand or recipe, because I could seriously eat it daily. I almost gave China New Star a 4 star rating, because the location isn’t very convenient and there’s also a lack of public transportation within the vicinity. I have a car and parking is easy enough over there, but it makes it less of a «hey, it’s 10pm and I’m hungry, let’s go pick up some Chinese food» kind of place. So, if you don’t have a car, keep the transportation thing in mind.

Stopped in to grab a bite before heading out for a few drinks. I enjoyed some of the dishes we ordered. I particularly loved their fried noodle snack thingy with the choice of spicy or sweet sauce. I mixed them. I also tried their LI ice tea. Loved it. Our waiter was friendly. The End

Not happy with the food here at all. I have higher expectations from a Chinese restaurant compared to a talk out. This is a large restaurant and should have better chefs to pro are the food. I ordered the sesame chicken and they did use white meat but the sauce was horrible. I had better sauce in pretty much ever Chinese spot I’ve been to. The lomein was dry and bland and even there white rice is not good. I honestly don’t know how this place stays in business. Years ago they were better and little by little I noticed the food was not tasty. I stopped ordering from they for many years ago but figured since they stayed in business all these years they must be better now. Boy was I wrong. With so many Chinese take outs, I won’t give this place another chance.
