I’ve passed by this place more times than I can count but never had a chance to go in. Finally one night I grabbed the hubster and we took the short ride from my house over there.
Walked in and immediately liked the place. Its a bit bigger than it looks from the outside and the décor is fantastic. We sat and ordered a couple of beers and here’s where it went bad…
In comes three young men, late teens possibly early twenties, absolutely REEKING of a – ahem — natural herb. The restaurant was not even half full and yet they sat them at the table right next to us. The «aroma» was so overwhelming I could barely stand it. On top of the fact that they were so loud and obnoxious there was no way to enjoy our night. We quietly asked to be moved and was told they couldn’t move us because they had a large party coming in. At that point we decided we couldn’t last much longer. We rushed through the rest of meal and got out of there.
To be honest, because of the whole situation, I actually can’t remember how good the food was which is such a shame. I’d definitely give them another shot at some point just to be fair and update my review.

I came here once because I was craving a sweet potato roll while I was pregnant. The establishment is nicer than most restaurants in the area but a bit pricey for sushi. The sweet potato roll was ok but the service was good. My bf had chicken teriyaki and that was ok as well because the chicken was a tad dry. Other than that I would probably go back.

Went to China Tokyo for a Sunday date night. The reviews were pretty good so we gave it a try. The sushi was fresh and yummy, and was plated beautifully. The general tso chicken and fried rice was also tasty. Our meals were satisfying. The service wasn’t super friendly, but the waitress was fast and attentive. We enjoyed ourselves, and plan to return in the near future.

I came here last Friday the 13^th. The service was ok, I had a lot of appetizers most were good (ribs, spring rolls) others were not my speed. I ordered a drink from the happy hour list and it was just ok, I will try something else next time. I order the chicken fried rice to go… that rice is now my staple, it was really tasty and I will definitely return for that! :)

I usually order from here since it’s one of the only places that deliver to my house. Yeah the sushi is good and all but let me tell you about that fried chicken!!! I ordered it on a whim and I was so pleasanly surprised to find that it was fantastic! God damn, I’m hungry right now just thinking of it.

Used 2b better. It’s all about the chef, otherwise put the lock on the door. We won’t be eating there anymore.

Well for a Chinese/​Jap/​Thai place it isn’t bad the inside looks like midtown Manhattan & the outside looks like… your corner store deli (but it’s worth coming here).
The food presentation is pretty good and the taste is really good. I would definitely recommend coming here again!

Have you ever experience poor customer service with a nasty attitude? How do an employee act nasty during the holidays? My fellow Unilocalers, it is very possible especially at this establishment. The lady that host this place ALWAYS have a nasty attitude and think she queen of the world. I asked this chick, can I get some forks, plates and napkins, because I am not heading home. She caught an attitude and was not cooperative. Why the hell would you roll you freaking eyes, while dealing with your customers. So keep your food and eat it, I rather eat elsewhere. One star!

My experience is usually 3 or 4 stars. I come here with my cousin sometimes during our lunch break because of the proximity. I’ve been here by myself a few times as well. I highly recommend the plum wine here. It tastes so good and they give you a good amount for the price. $ 9.
The service is very quick and they waiters are attentive. It’s never usually busy when I come here so it’s like you have their undivided attention when you come. The food is really good as well and fairly priced. I usually order the shrimp with mixed vegetables and garlic sauce and that typically runs me about $ 8 or $ 9 during lunch time. I wish they’d add a little more rice though but otherwise it is such a good dish!
China Tokyo is easy to find, right along avenue N. I think it’s pretty much the best Chinese food you can get in the area and because of that I find myself frequenting this place at least once a month.

My cousin and I came here on a recommendation the other night. Looked at the reviews and the reviews check out. The ambiance and décor is nice, very trendy. The fried noodles came out with duck sauce and a mustard sauce as their version of a bread basket. I’m used to my fried noodles coming out warm. My cousin didn’t like that the duck sauce was cold (that didn’t bother me though).
Ok so now we order our food. My cousin ordered the general tso chicken with extra sauce and white rice. I ordered the four seasons (pork, shrimp, beef, & chicken w/​mixed veggies) with brown rice. The food was nothing more than you regular neighborhood Chinese store with higher prices and a nice place to eat at a table. I have had better.
Needless to say I prolly will not be going back here unless I am in the area craving Chinese food.
Oh yea! I also ordered a boston roll as my appetizer which was good and my cousin ordered the chicken wings that came with a sweet ‘n’ spicy sauce. She thought the wings needed more flavor but loved the sauce. So maybe I will return for the sushi.

Worst service I’ve ever had. 5 people and 3 kids. Two orders did not arrive at all. She forgot to put them in. Drinks took 20 minutes to get. We ordered a beer and vine. They forgot two of 5 orders. They include 20% tip. They refused to honor happy hour pricing on drinks trying to tell me something about different liquor. We will NEVER COME BACK TO THIS SHIT HOLE.

Ok — This is the experience:
I walked in and I love the atmosphere and setting of this place and it has a nice small bar that attracts many locals in the area — that is a 4
If you are ordering the Oceans 8 or 11 — which is a seafood dish… When the food came it was 1 shrimp 1 scallop 4 pieces of crab meat — the dish is $ 16 — I was not pleased with the scarcity of seafood in the dish for the price so I asked to replace the dish with another — that is a 3
The waiter seemed annoyed with me a bit and it was known to me — towards the end he seemed a bit nicer — that is a 3
My friend ordered the sesame chicken and he enjoyed it — that is a 4 (and it was a nice hefty dish)
I ordered the pepper steak with onions and I still noticed there was a scarcity of steak — I was over it and settled with it — but the food was good — that is a 3 again
Overall — I would come back again — it is nice place in the neighborhood — and I hear the drinks are real good — so overall 3 stars.
China Tokyo — any dish that is over $ 10 should get as much of a portion that matched your chicken dishes. I noticed the seafood dishes and steak dishes have less of a portion than your chicken dishes… work on that!

Came here for take out Resturant had no customers whatsoever. But I saw a lot of deliveries going out. Saw a picture for General Tso on the Unilocal reviews. Came and ordered it for my bf who doesn’t eat sushi, I was told this is not a Chinese Resturant. It’s Japanese (can u say rude?) … Never the less the food great

Was in the ‘nabe with my babe (lol) and we were on the hunt for some sushi so we stopped in:
The service here really isn’t great. While the people are super nice, they are extremely slow with a severe lack of knowledge of their own restaurant/​menu.
Go here with family — not friends or mates.
And the food is just ok. Not bad. Not good. But ok. The drinks were pretty good, but they took forever to come.
I wouldn’t go back, but I wouldn’t say no to take out.

I was afraid to come here because of some reviews. But i will try almost anywhere once
Ordered: Fuji Roll, Sizziling Brazilian roll, Eel avocado Roll (and one i cant remember)
All were delicious.
The waiter was nice
The water glasses had lipstick stains
The bus boy hawked (i could feel him staring) and as soon as we were done with our last bite he ran over to take the plate.
I ordered the Emerald City Martini To drink, it was DELICIOUS, it took forever to get. When done with my first drink the barback came and asked if i wanted another one i said yes please she returned a while later with the wrong drink, so my friend said she’ll keep it. We timed the second one and it took 8 long minutes come. When we got the bill she charged us for the incorrect drink which was a little annoying because it was her mistake, it was $ 11.00 and we wouldnt have ordered it in the first place.
The bill was Over 110 for 6 Drinks and 4 rolls…
The martinis were $ 11 Each and the Wine was 9, specialty rolls were around $ 12-​$ 14

Went here for Sunday dinner with my family (a little break from the typical Italian food Sunday meal)
We started the meal with sharing Sushi, peanut avocado roll, fiery strawberry roll (spicy crab and strawberry), and California. The presentation of the dish was phenomenal they put a flashing light in the center of the dish. It was like a little sushi rave on my plate!
Next we shared the hibachi chicken and the general tso chicken both of which were really good, i preferred the hibachi!
This is a great little spot where u can get pretty tasty Asian fusion food.

There is a new sheriff in town! Or at least a new samurai! This magnificent asian fusion restaurant, formally the KAR, fills the void this neighborhood desperately needed. A moderately priced asian joint that serves up uncommon dishes and exceeds your expectations.
I’ve dined here with my family three times now and each time the food did not disappoint. From the appetizers like fried dumplings to shrimp wrapped in potato strings, the food came out meticulously arranged and was a feast for the eyes before satisfying the taste buds.
For the main course, we had, the five ocean, which is a spicy seafood dish sautéed with vegetables and light sauce. My mom, who never likes any restaurant food, actually finished her entire meal and even gave a complement. We also had shimp in black bean sauce which my wife enjoyed. It had a nice tangy flavor with a dash of a hot spice that really kicks in once you take a few bites. I had the filet mignon over chow fun. Which at first I was a bit cynical about. Putting a classical western steak over chinese wide noodles? WTF! But surprisingly, it was good. The meat was cooked skillfully and both dishes complemented each other well. I guess, east meets west.
But the best dishes of the night were the sushi. It came out in intricate arrangements that was almost a shame to eat and ruin the artistry of it. Each individual rolls and the sushi were probably the best that I’ve tasted. The cut of the salmon and tuna were such that, it literally melted in your mouth. So silky and tender yet full of rich flavor. The spicy tuna had it’s own flair. The flavor stood firm in your palate even after you’ve eaten it moments ago.
The décor is modern and tastefully done. It had a hint of a asian motif to it but not overly so. The place is clean, well designed and will not embarrass the company you bring over.
The staff gets an «A» for effort but are not classically trained. They are attentive but need a bit more seasoning.
The only gripe I have is that the each time we have went and ordered, the food came out at long intervals. This does not really bother me so much but it drove my wife nuts. While one person is enjoying their dish, all the others seated at the table are twiddling their thumbs. This is probably due to the fact that they haven’t been opened very long and will improve as the kitchen gets their timing better but nevertheless, it was annoying.
Also they have a great deal for Unilocalers. $ 25 for $ 10. It’s like buying champagne with beer money. Now you don’t have an excuse not to go!

Delicious food, great atmosphere, nice staff, beautiful presentation!

I decided to give this place another try. Again menu was not very creative but the food was pretty good and large portions. Unlike the first time, the service was lacking. Even though there weren’t many people in the restaurant the waiter was unattentive.
If you are in area I would say stop by and check it out. It’s a good neighborhood spot.
