CityMD – Prospect Heights

I love CityMD. It’s fast, clean, and efficient. I walked in and after a few minutes, I saw a doctor to get a prescription for malaria pills and Diamox for altitude sickness.

It’s clean, it’s pleasant, everyone is nice, and they get the job done, but they need to work on managing expectations. I went in for something relatively minor, but it had to get taken care of sooner or later and I was nearby so figured I’d get it over with if the wait wasn’t too bad.
I asked very specifically at the front desk how long the wait was to see a doctor. The nice woman told me 15 – 20 minutes. Brilliant. I could totally sit in their waiting room and read Entertainment Weekly for 15 – 20 minutes.
I was psyched when I was called much sooner… only to sit in an examination room for another 40 minutes. There was no Entertainment Weekly, although there was a television that played only infomercials. (Ask me anything about the Ninja coffee maker, guys. Seriously, anything. Did you know that it has a special foaming attachment for lattes? You do now!)
I eventually went out into the nurse’s area and made a fuss, at which point someone came in immediately.
None of this would have been at all a problem if they’d just been honest with me about the wait when I initially asked, but having something take twice as long as you expect it to is frustrating. I get that this is urgent care and someone may have come in with a more urgent situation than mine, but again — I would have appreciated it so much if one of the employees hanging out by the nurse’s station had just popped their head in to let me know.
All in all, I was in there for over an hour for a procedure that took three minutes. I then had to wait another ten minutes for them to process my exit paperwork.
It’s great to know that CityMD is there if I ever get in another medical jam, but they would do well to take a cue from every restaurant ever and overstate wait times.

This is my second visit to one of these locations there’s one conveniently by my job and now also one by my house. I pulled a muscle in my back on a Friday night, arrived here Saturday morning at 10:45 (they open at 9), there were two people waiting and both were called in while I signed my consent forms-​a plus is once you register online you don’t have to do any annoying paperwork when you walk in for appointments. I was called in within 10 minutes, assessed by the medical assistant and then waited for the doctor. The only reason I gave them 3 stars is because the wait in the exam room for the doctor was about 35 – 40 minutes! Other than that the staff are all really nice and the facility is kept very neat and clean.

It’s never fun to wake up with a swollen jaw for no reason on a Saturday morning (I swear, no reason!). In pain and looking at waiting until Monday for an appointment with my dentist, I decided to go to the nearby CityMD.
I arrived at 8:45 AM, they open at 9 AM. I knew this going in, but I wanted to make sure there wasn’t a huge line. Another woman was waiting by the door. At 8:55 AM a receptionist arrived and let us in early. We sat and waited while they set up.
I recommend going online and registering yourself if you haven’t been here before. It speeds up the process. They will have you sign a form (or fill out the form entirely, if you haven’t been or registered online) and they will take your ID and health insurance (if you have one) card. Within five minutes after 9 AM, the woman ahead of me in line was taken in. About ten more minutes after, I was let into a room.
Let me just say that the space is so clean and nice. The waiting room is clean: they have a TV and several (possibly germ-​y) magazines but the space is clearly new and well cleaned. The room I was let into was comfortable and very nice as well. Check plus for cleanliness, CityMD!
A registered nurse took my vitals and asked me about my family history and the problem with my jaw. He then left to get the doctor who came in with great bedside manner. She seemed very competent and friendly. She evaluated my cheek, throat, and jaw before giving me her advice. I was impressed with her professionalism and her efficiency.
I was provided materials that would be ready for me at registration, I waited about two more minutes for them to collect my materials (ID, insurance card, provided materials) and went about my way. It’s conveniently located next to a Duane Reade too for easy access to painkillers and other prescriptions.
Such an impressive establishment, well oiled, well run. I will definitely use it again if/​when I have another ailment on a weekend.

Zero wait time. (I was stuck at the pharmacy 3 times longer than I was at the CityMD!) I’m always pleased with how the doctors listen. The facility is clean and modern. I have no insurance and find them affordable. This location is super new, so don’t let the small amount of reviews deter you from this location, you’re in good hands.

Such a terrible experience. When I checked in I was told the wait would be 25 – 30 min because the rooms were full. Totally normal. They put me in a room and someone did my vitals and then closed the door and left. 30 min later I’m still sitting in the room. I finally wandered the hallway until I found someone– she came in, asked me what I was here for and then disappeared. Getting increasingly upset I waited another 25 min in the room until I went out again and found someone but still no doctor. End of story I left incredibly upset without much needed medication. I know offices can get backed up or can be understaffed but its not ok to just leave people in a closed room and not give them any indication of how long they will be there, especially when I was given the indication the wait would only be 25 – 30 min. If I had been told they were running behind and that it would be more than an hour to see a doctor I would have left and not wasted my time.. Poor management and customer service.

Went in for shoulder strain to make sure it wasn’t seriously injured. The visit was fast, efficient and convenient. The staff was all professional, friendly and capable. X-​ray facilities on site so no chasing around to a lab. Very clean and new place!
Tip: Register online before you go to avoid filling out forms.

I went on a Monday morning. The front desk staff, assistants, and doctor were all very nice and helpful. Barely a wait. Best urgent care experience ever!
