Cobble Hill Car Service

Yeah gotta say, I’ve used them several times and they’re just not that stellar. Typically it’s to get to the airport. Sometimes to go to other neighborhoods at night.
Here’s how I break it down:
Service - (3.5 stars) — with about a 3~24hr lead time
Fairly polite. Almost always on time or a bit early. Drivers are not brilliant but do have a decent knowledge of their routs most times. They are also willing to try new routs if your phone suggest it.
Car Condition — (2 stars)
This is where they really fall down. The cars are just all beat-​up. Sometime a touch smelly. Kind-​of embarrassing to get picked up in one if your at the airport. But they do seem to run ok.
Price — (4 stars)
As far as I can tell they’re almost always cheaper than the other guys in the surrounding area. And if it’s not last minute, they’re willing to negotiate. Just remember, it’s cheap for a reason.

Let me just be upfront here:
This is not going to be an alternative for Arecibo or your other nighttime car service of choice. Don’t bother calling them on the spur of the moment because they never, ever have cars in your area.
However, if you need to book a ride in advance (the airport for instance), it’s a pretty good bet. They were almost $ 15 cheaper than Dial 7 quoted me for LaGuardia, and that’s good enough for me. Especially since the driver was on time, knew his business, and was exceptionally polite. He actually apologized for his phone ringing non-​stop throughout the ride. Imagine that?!
I mean, he still took the calls and everything, but at least he felt bad about it.

Never ever use them. They are sleazes. This week during the flood they asked everyone where they were going, if it wasn’t a big enough fare they said they didn’t have cars and hung up. If it was far enough they, surprise, all of sudden had cars. Scumbags. Also, they always hang up on you…

Have been using this car service for over 2 years. They are always reliable and professional. The are always early, call as they arrive and get me to where I need to go (almost always to the airport.) In the last few months I have found that all the cars are cleaner and more professional… I agree that in the early years it was like they were using their own cars (car seats, kids homework, etc.) But, this is my car service of choice.

Incredibly shady. I was once picked up in a derelict minivan – the driver had to stop to get gas when I was already late for a work appointment. Another time, the driver asked if it was ok if his friend rode with us to the airport.
I always use Aricebo now.

The driver showed up late for starters, and they charged me an extra $ 5 just for my drums (I had a light/​tiny bass-​snare rig, and except for the bass-​drum, all fit neatly in the trunk.) Even 1 additional passenger would have weighed a lot more, so using weight as a pretext for the charge was wholly unjustified.
On top of that, the driver didn’t even bother to help me load/​unload.
So, basically, if you’re carrying anything more than a hand-​bag, be prepared for extra-​charges.

I had none of the horror stories that I read on this site. The guy who drove me from brooklyn to JFK was prompt (even early), extremely pleasant and professional.

DO NOT TAKE THESE GUYS. They charge 45 BUCKS from my brooklyn home to JFK, the same route I take ALL THE TIME with my usual car service who was busy that night soI took the chance on these guys, got picked up in a 25 year old mini-​van and then charged MANHATTAN prices for the ride. The last trip I took the airport cost me 30 bucks, and it was a LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. Anyway, don’t use these guys. They are scum

Ugh. They are terrible. The troll of a woman who «helped» us get a car was so rude that we considered walking away rather than supporting their sham of an operation.
But…we were in the middle of a snowstorm… and we were desperate.
Otherwise, Cobble Hill gets a big HELL NO from me.
Not only was the troll rude, but she was also very forthcoming about charging out the ass. The driver was fine. I’ve got nothing against him. But the car did wreak like cigs.

Shit… Fest
From the surly woman who arbitrarily was making up prices out of her ass, to the surly woman who was a complete ass-​hat to not only us but the kids who came in after us looking for a cab…
They just suck. And, they’re twice as expensive as any other car service in the area. $ 15 to go from their office to Dean and 6^th Ave?
Y’all can just go fuck yo selves.
Too bad we NEEDED a car…

I’ve given these guys literally dozens of chances but they are without fail ALWAYS about ten minutes or more late. I started using them a couple years ago when they were the «nicer» service. Unfortunately, the driver has often in the past given me a different rate than dispatch and it’s usually higher. The cars themselves are for the most part clean and well taken care of but I can’t be late to the airport again!

Good service, clean cars, and the drivers always know where they’re going. But the prices are pretty high compared to other Brooklyn car services, and sometimes they take much longer than they should. Otherwise this is a decent option when you’re not desperate enough to call Northside and other, cheaper services are all too busy to pick you up.

What I really like about Cobble Hill is that they always take your number and call you when they are outside, no honking of the horn and annoying your neighbors. Oftentimes I schedule a pick-​up for early in the morning and they are consistently early. When you call they are there within the promised five minutes nine times out of ten.
The only things keeping them from being a five-​star review:
— cars can stink like cigarettes and bad cologne (although this seems to be the norm for NY car services)
— also sometimes (ahem, last night) the driver will not listen to the way that you would like them to go, proceed to get lost, not admit that they do not know where they are going, and what should have been a 15-​minute ride becomes a 50-​minute adventure through Bed-​Stuy. So just confirm with them that they actually know what they are talking about when you get in the car.
