Condor Hotel

I stayed here recently for business and would absolutely stay here again. I am a stickler for cleanliness and the Condor lived up to my expectations. I stayed in the «plush king» room which was very spacious, complete with a small kitchen. The room was very clean and modern looking… the king bed was extremely comfortable, I could have slept all day, and I did not hear any noise at night… very quiet.
Upon checking in the front desk attendant was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about Williamsburg and the city in general. The nice thing about staying in BK is that the hotel can call you a cab. and it usually arrives within a 10 minutes. which is nice since cabs aren’t as easy to come by in that area depending on the time of day. I did not venture out locally near the hotel so I cannot speak to the local dining/​bars/​shopping.
The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is due to the price. I understand the rate fluctuates depending on the time of year, but on a weekday in the middle October it ran me $ 360 per night… I would expect that for a hotel in Manhattan, but I thought it was a bit on the pricey side for BK accommodations. All and all though, I would recommend the Condor Hotel.

Extremely loud and noisy. We were given a room on the 1^st floor — I’m not sure how the other floors are, but if they put you on the first floor you are better off sleeping in Times Square. You will hear constant chit chatter, phones, and all the noise of a New York hotel lobby. Play it safe — book elsewhere.

I always give five stars, and I want to provide helpful information on this location. Does five stars mean this place is stellar? No, not really. Though, after reading some reviews and staying recently at this Hotel, I thought I should chime in and clarify.
The rooms are fairly large for NYC, and pretty clean with white linens and fresh towels.
Also, the location is close to Pratt so it’s a good place to stay if you’re doing a college visit to Pratt or visiting that school for business during the week. All that said, I really feel compelled to balance some of the other reviews with my own experience.
Someone said the Condor is a 10 – 15 minute walk to the middle of Williamsburg. Um, NO! Let’s try 35 minutes. When you look at Google maps this place looks like it is part of Willamsburg, but it’s really Bedford-​Stuyvesant. It didn’t really matter to us, but it might matter to some people. We did end up taking a very long walk one night from Williamsburg, and it was hot out, so I thought I should not let people be fooled on this point.
The G train– This hotel isn’t actually as close to the G train as one might think. It is extremely close to the B-​48 bus line, and the B-​62, and B-​57 are also nearby. You can take the B-​48 bus up to the L train. I recommend researching ahead of time, and using these buses for the L train if you need to go into Manhattan. You can use the same metro card for the buses that you use for the subway. One of the B-​48 bus drivers is an asshole. Mostly though, the bus was a good experience, not crowded and it had working a/​c.
The neighborhood is not scary to me, the way someone described in their review. I guess it depends on what you’re used to? Yes, it does look like lower rent housing and lots of industrial shops around (many of them making artistic endeavors, actually, but messy) There are many Hasidic Jews in the area. (They don’t scare me.) It does feel like nothing is around, however, it’s a short walk down Franklin to Myrtle Ave where you will find many shops and restaurants. We had the most amazing authentic Mexican lunch at Chinantla, which looks like a tiny bodega from the outside, but has tables and a jukebox inside. (They serve breakfast too!) Really fun Mexican pop-​music playing on the jukebox.
As a side note, Google maps might send you on a strange route to get to Pratt. Just walk down Franklin to Myrtle Ave. Trust me. Walking down Myrtle Ave, when you get to Pratt, you’ll see a fancy, new, modern building with shops on the bottom floor. This is where they start the college tours. Proceed up close to this building like you’re going to visit the Blick (Utrecht?) art supply store, but then walk around the narrow walkway to the back side of the building. There you will find the admissions entrance. Just a helpful hint to people visiting Pratt for the first time.
If you actually need to sleep on a Friday or Saturday night, I’m not sure the Condor is the best place for you. What I gather from my experience, and from the reviews I’ve read, is that the weekends are not sufficiently managed/​staffed, and parties occur inside the hotel rooms. We had a very loud party in the room next to us on the friday night of our stay, with drum-​beat music and shouting. This lasted between 2am and 4am. I did call the front desk at 3am and spoke to a young man who actually sounded like he might be part of the party himself. I’m not sure… something about his voice, he fit in with that crowd. I’m very non-​confrontational so I did not mention anything about this when we were leaving. We were also in a hurry to get on with our travels. (I’m making an assumption about Saturday, we didn’t stay on a Saturday night.) They sell earplugs in the lobby vending machine, by the way.
Someone mentioned that the hotel calls cabs that are more expensive than normal cabs. Maybe this is true? The drivers were very friendly though, and appeared quickly. It did seem like the trip to our airport shuttle stop was more expensive, than it was going to the hotel. If this is a concern for you, call your own cab instead of allowing the hotel do it.
The lights and air conditioning can only function when you put your room card-​key into a special slot on the wall. This is a low-​staff way of ensuring energy conservation. It’s a bit weird, but it didn’t bother us. I don’t know if this mechanism is the reason our card-​keys were made to not work? Twice during our four night stay we had to ask for new card-​keys. It’s possible that this whole set-​up needs to be changed to something that works better, if those two things are related.
The best thing about the breakfast… the muffins, good coffee (the Pike Place market blend), and the boiled eggs were actually tasty and fresh. It’s nothing spectacular, but they provide a quiet and clean basement room with cute tables, and it’s nice to have a little something when you have a busy day ahead of you.

Jewel of a hotel near Brooklyn Navy Yard, where I was attending a business conference. Clean with modern amenities, but staff really stood out. From offering breakfast and a place to work when I arrived super early before rooms were ready to excellent restaurant recommendations nearby … the staff was solicitous and proactive.

So when my girlfriend and I pulled up, I wasn’t expecting much. Yes, the outside is beautiful however, the neighborhood could be a bit cleaner. When I stepped in the door, I was met by a wonderful young man who, for some reason, I cannot remember his name. I even went through prior reviews hoping someone else would have mentioned him.
Regardless, I have never met a person that knew so much about not only Brooklyn, but also Manhattan. He gave us various recommendations, called restaurants, gave us directions, he really went above and beyond. He had a buzz cut, so it wasn’t the gentleman with the longer hair.
Upon entering our room, wow is all I could say. It was huge! We had a balcony, kitchenette area, deep soaking tub, and an AWFUL comfortable bed. Seriously. My girlfriend had to drag me out of it. I could have lived in it if the Condor offered room service and I was rich. The ONLY complaint I have is that… the AC does not make enough noise for me. Yes. I like that noisy, motel 8 sounding air conditioner. So really, for you quiet snobs, it’s probably perfect.
When we woke up and went to breakfast, I was not expecting Brooklyn coffee. I was expecting some cheap end, crappy, watered down «oh holy shit» kind of coffee. The kind you never want to taste again. But no. No. This was heaven in a cup. We actually debated staying out another day just so we could enjoy this coffee once more. The breakfast was pretty ordinary. Waffles, fruit, cereal, juice, etc. Their bagels are THE BOMB! The dude that I praised earlier told me they make them in house so that’s pretty nice.
After a while, we left to go tour the town and when we got back, we met the girl with the blonde hair. She was really sweet too. She helped us with recommendations of bars we could go to as it was FREEZING outside! Valentines day weekend was not for the warm hearted that weekend. After downing a couple cups of hot chocolate, we went on our merry way.
As for housekeeping, it’s okay. The basic pick-​up. I’m sure if I had requested new linens, they would have provided them. The bed sheet is a bit weird, I’ll give you that. Instead of a fitted sheet, we had just a regular bed sheet spread across the mattress. I was fine with it. I don’t need diamonds and luxury. But new sheets would have been great, especially since we made sure to tip every time we left. I’ve done housekeeping. It’s a crappy job with low pay so I feel you girls!
The outside garden area was beautiful and completely unexpected. It’s more of a courtyard but completely private and weirdly serene.
The ONLY complaint I have is that hotel wasn’t really near anything. If you are willing to walk about 10 – 15 minutes, you’re fine. So really, if you’re willing to live like a new yorker for a day or two, you’ll be solid. Myrtle ave has some fantastic places to eat and drink. Some expensive, and some not.
I didn’t find the surrounding area to be dangerous or concerning. The way I see it, people get robbed in parking lots all the time, everywhere around the world. This was safe compared to some places in Baltimore I’ve been in.
If you’re expecting Tribeca or Park Slope, you’re in the wrong place. But if you’re looking for a spectacular place to stay, with decent rates (call! They might negotiate the price!), in a good area with good people and good food, this is that place. I’ve been wanting to come and stay again but with our new tight budget, we’ve had to settle for much less than what The Condor was able to provide.

The bed was huge and the room was decent. I liked that it had a kitchenette. It was raining and we were on the 4^th floor with a balcony but it had no awning so we were not able to use the balcony. The TV was a 27′ flat screen placed on the desk. Felt like they could have at least had it mounted.
The hotel is not a close walk to any public transportation. On the website it stated that there was parking across from the hotel. We get there and the parking lot is gated. Jump out of the car to ask the staff where can we park and they are not helpful at all. They didn’t even tell us where the entrance to the parking lot was.

Great so far! Young man at front desk was great, had reserved room online and was ready and clean when I arrived!

So surprised by the low rating, as I just had a wonderful 2 night stay here. I went with a friend and we stayed in a room with two of the small beds, which were larger than I expected and super comfortable. Not only was the Condor affordable, but the room was spacious, comfortable, and quite hip in my opinion (especially for the price)! I would absolutely stay here again. The staff was super nice and helpful, and they were always giving us recommendations or calling us a car. Breakfast is free (cereal, waffles, boiled eggs, pastries, fruit), and I especially love the machine at the front desk that lets you make yourself a quick, yummy, and complimentary cup of coffee, hot chocolate, tea, or chai latte anytime you want! Yes, the hotel is a 12 – 15 minute walk to the subway. That’s the only drawback. But the area is TOTALLY safe– sure, there’s some garbage on the ground outside, but the area is literally entirely made up of Hasidic Jewish families who have absolutely no desire to rob or maim you. They just want to walk their children to synagogue and school. For me, I’d rather have the savings and amenities of the Condor and deal with walking or taking a car somewhere.

The hotel looks a bit unassuming during the day but at night (like a lot of places), lighting adds a certain charm and sophistication to it.
The lobby/​waiting/​sitting area is very «put together». No shabby chic here at all. This room leads to a back garden looking area. It looked nice and sunny from indoors but I didn’t go out to the back so I cannot properly review that area.
There’s an ATM machine and computer access in a corner of this room and free wifi is available throughout. (Why do they say free? Isn’t this service a hidden fee? Lol). I understand the hotel also has a conference centre.
My twin room was delish. Except for bed size I felt like I was at home. Very neat and clean and the amenities included kitchenette, mini fridge, microwave and a balcony yeah me!
I had a nice stay and Whitney was nice enough to extend checkout to noon.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Great continental breakfast is provided everyday; they have a Keurig drink maker at the front desk you can get coffee/​tea/​hot chocolate at any time; cookies are provided in the afternoon and evenings.
All of the staff were incredibly helpful with all of my needs and it was an overall great time!

During a recent trip down to NYC we decided to stay at the Condor Hotel because it was near a music venue were planning to stop by. It also offered quick and easy access via cab, walk, or train into Manhattan. The Condor did not disappoint.
We were greeted warmly when we arrived late Friday evening by the reception staff. He got us checked in quickly and advised where we could park. He also recommended several restaurants nearby and gave us tips on getting around.
The room was spacious and had a small kitchen. The bathroom was clean and stocked. We didn’t spend much time in the room, but everything we needed was there. I would recommend staying at the Condor if you’re in the area or looking for a cheaper alternative to Manhattan.

Not sure why this place has only 2.5 stars? For NY this place freakin AMAZING especially at its price point and location. Very nuce staff. Free tea and breakfast. For NY very roomy with even a small kitchenette. By the way i got this place through American Express travel and it ranks like 4.5 out of 5 whuch is very accurate. Everything is in close proximity, especially by Los Angeles standards. USE Unilocal to find great restaurant spots and cigar lounge. I recommend this place.

Really nice and hip hotel. Staff was super friendly! They were ready to help out with anything we needed.
We walked in to check in, and there were homemade cookies waiting for us. And, a nice coffee and tea station. The hotel lobby was so cozy and very hip decorated. A lovely quaint court yard. Very nice atmosphere.
The rooms were very pretty with crisp white sheets! Very clean. We had a refrigerator and coffee pot and microwave. Lovely rooms.
The breakfast was free with good choices. A healthy side with fresh fruits and veggies, and a be bad side with waffles and the works. All was yummy.
The neighborhood felt safe. Families walking around.

The Condor is a great boutique hotel with a very friendly and helpful staff. Love the stylish décor of the lobby and lounge and the courtyard in the rear is a nice feature. Our room was fairly spacious by NYC standards and featured a kitchenette comprised of a small fridge, sink, and microwave. The King size bed was amazing! One of the two most comfortable beds I have slept in, and I’ve stayed in a lot of 5 star hotels. The shower was also wonderful. The blinds block out most of the light and being on a minor street, the noise is less than many hotels in the City. If you’re sensitive to city noise, request a room at the rear. The Condor offers a complimentary continental breakfast which we found to perfectly meet our needs. The electrical in the room is cool. You insert your room key upon entering and it powers-​up the room, ie, turns everything on. When you leave just take your key out and the room powers down. Very energy efficient. Also note that there are light controls in the headboard. I didn’t find these for two days because of the big, fluffy pillows in the awesome bed.
The only downside is the location. It’s a 10 – 15 minute walk to the nearest subway stop and cabs are infrequent unless you walk several blocks. The Condor will gladly call a car service to pick you up. I suggest this option and allowing ten minutes or so. I felt the quality of the hotel, quieter location, and price offset the slight inconvenience of the location but did lower it a star. You should also be aware that the hotel is located in the largest Hasidic neighborhood outside of Poland. We found this to be interesting.

Some of the reviews here are completely undeserved.
We booked 4 rooms for a video shoot in Williamsburg. The price and location were both ideal, as well as the $ 20 parking.
1. Cleanliness. All 4 of us had very clean rooms with no grime issues whatsoever. We all stayed in king rooms. The beds were super comfortable, and for the price the décor and fixtures were higher end than one would suspect. The rooms were big by NYC standards. The only drawback was a small TV, but that’s nit picking.
2. Neighborhood. For those that said this is a sketchy area, are you kidding me? We saw kids, families walking around all day and night and NEVER felt unsafe here. If you think this is a sketchy area, I can only imagine you are accustomed to rural areas and have never been to NYC before. This is NOT a dangerous area. Secondly, noise levels were completely below average for a low-​rise in NYC.
3. Service. Mo, our front desk attendant, was amazing and helpful. One of our team members had a problem with her credit card and Mo was completely accommodating, friendly, and funny.
4. Parking. The lot has a huge, barb-​wired fence with a gated key code pass. To those that felt their car was unsafe, I really don’t know what to say. Unrealistic expectations perhaps?
A fantastic value. The manager even followed up with us personally via email the day after for feedback. The only downside is location if you want to get to Manhattan by public transportation. Not as convenient as some other options. If you have a car and need to stay in NYC, this is a great option.

Stayed a the candor hotel this past weekend and it was a treat. the rooms were clean, service was respectable, friendly and courteous… also and probably most importantly, the price was decent. If your looking for a nice hotel not to the far from the hustle and bustle of Downtown, Brooklyn this would most certainly be the go — to spot. And btw, the bed, is to die for… I have to honestly admit that i had a good nights sleep.

A nice, chic boutique hotel. Free parking and wifi. Stayed in a king room the was nicely appointed. This is a no smoking hotel but we had a small balcony and a courtyard to satisfy the need. The bed was super comfy and the room was clean. All rooms are equipped with a small kitchenette and a mini fridge. Friends booked a corner room thinking it would be bigger but they did not have a balcony and twin beds. There were a few bodegas and a couple of cool bars nearby but the neighborhood was kind of strange. Not close to the train so we had to cab everywhere. The only issue we had was that there was a water main break on our last night so we had no running water. This would have been a big issue if it happened on our first night. They were very accommodating and offered bottled water and made arrangements with a hotel down the street for showering. Overall not a bad place.

At first I was skeptical, then I walked in.

This is one of those ‘Don’t judge a book by it’s cover situations’. The hotel itself is in kind of a questionable area, it’s not not super close to a train but that doesn’t mean it’s a terrible place to stay! You’re a 10 – 15 minute walk to the North Side of Williamsburg.
The room was a true reflection of the price that was paid for it. Two twin beds that were surprisingly super comfortable, a balcony that was pretty spacious and a shower that was amazing. No, seriously, that shower!
It’s great that there was a vending machine in the lobby because there isn’t a lot around the hotel. I’d suggest bringing some things to snack on with you.

You get what you pay for, I guess. I price-​lined this «name your own price» for a last minute trip, and got in for about $ 140 I think. This hotel is in terrible neighborhood (unless you’re really into bodegas with bullet proof glass and the G train).
I called ahead and explained that I’d be getting off an international flight and wanted to make sure that A) my room would be ready to sleep in immediately and 2) that it’d be quiet. It was ready, but it was the wrong room type — I got 2 single beds and it was the least quiet room I’ve ever had — first floor with construction and constant coming and going, doors slamming, etc. When I asked to move they «couldn’t» move me and I suffered through. I would never return to this place.
The Internet was HORRIBLE to boot.
I would have given it 1 star but the front desk guy was some what sympathetic and the situation seems beyond his control somehow (?!) and the bathroom was pretty nice.
