History
Established in 1980.
The Coney Island Circus Sideshow is a production of Coney Island USA, the not-for-profit arts organization based in the Coney Island Amusement area. Our mission is to preserve and promote American popular art forms in Coney Island, the place where many were born or reached their zenith.
In operation since 1980, Coney Island USA produces the Mermaid Parade, the nation’s largest art parade; Burlesque at the Beach, the home of New York City’s neo-Burlesque movement; the Coney Island Film Festival, a showcase of edgy and irreverent films, and many other programs. Coney Island USA also operates the Coney Island Museum, which tells the story of Coney Island through relics from its past.
Our programs attract hundreds of thousands of people a year, focusing attention and leading the revival of the historic amusement area.
