Corkscrew Brooklyn has a great selection of family and female produced wines from around the world. Authentic, interesting, delicious and affordable wines selected by friendly and knowledgable staff. Corkscrew offers weekly tastings, free loyalty program, case discounts and free local delivery.

History

Established in 2013.

Corkscrew aims to have a balance in its selection between classic and progressive producers and to offer a wide range of price points with a focus on value as well as quality. Prices range from $ 8 to $ 150 with the majority of wines retailing between $ 12 — $ 27.

There will be a special focus on female wine makers, grower champagnes, and local producers as well as glass-​ware, wine accessories, books, and weekly tasting events.

Owner and founder Karin Torres is a retail professional and Myrtle Avenue resident whose mission is to provide a friendly wine shop experience with logical merchandising and knowledgeable staff to guide you with excellent customer service. «I want to take snobbery out of the wine store — wine is for everyone, wine is easy — it’s food. Love. Love. Love. The team there is super kind and really knows there stuff. They have made recommendations for two events and are always spot on both with what yummy wine to buy and how much for the size of the group. I love to try new wines and now it’s never an experiment, they know what I like and always make a great recommendation! Try Corkscrew you love it!

Officially my favorite wine shop in the neighborhood! The entire staff is extremely friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable!
Every wine they have suggested has been excellent. They often offer tastings which are a fun way to find a new favorite!

Such a cute wine store! I wish it was a little closer to my apartment but it’s worth the longer walk. I stopped by recently and got a great education on all the different rose options they have (go for the magnum, it’s ideal for a long summer weekend). The employee who helped me was clearly knowledgeable and didn’t blink an eye at showing me wines in my price range. I also really appreciate that everything they have is from small batch vineyards. i hope to try more of their selection soon!

Really great addition to the neighborhood. I’ve been coming since it opened and love their wine selection. The other day I had a colleague announce he was leaving the office and moving onto other things. He’s a great guy and loves wine, but I’m quite a novice and asked for advice from the owner, Karin.
She pointed me towards two wines (sadly I forget the names) that she said would be a hit. AND THEY TOTALLY WERE! My colleague was so happy and knew exactly the type of wine it was and what was special about it. I always give credit where it’s due so thanks again Karin for your helpful suggestions.

They were open on 4th of July (smart business!) and they had a fantastic selection of wines to choose from. We were looking for a Rose and they had an outstanding selection that was refridgerated and a magnum at that! We also were surprised to find a piquepoul that we love that was also chilled. Great help from the gal in there as well! I wish they would open a store in SF by my apt.

Most friendly and helpful staff! How the wines are presented makes it less daunting and easier to look for wine of your suiting. This is such a cute little neighborhood store! Been waiting for something like this to open in this area– not close to my house, but on my way home from work. Great selection of wines, at reasonable prices. The owner, Karin, and her staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. Doesn’t hurt that Karin is a mother and understands the need parents have for a great, easy bottle of wine on a Tuesday night after the little one is finally asleep– no judgements! ;) Another thing that makes this wine store stand out from others is how they bring the community together with great little wine tastings and fun art exhibits of local talent.

Love this place! The owner is always so sweet and helpful! She suggested a Prosecco that was absolutely delicious! I also bought a bottle of Moscato de Pavia and a bottle of sweet red made by Adesso! Both were also really good! Def my go to place whenever I’m back in the neighborhood!

I’d lament that Corkscrew isn’t closer to my apartment, but I *rejoice* that it is so close to my office in the Navy Yard. Every time I stop in I feel at ease instead of overwhelmed. It’s easy to feel a bit daft when surrounded by bottles, but I always leave with exactly what I’m looking for, thanks to the very informative and friendly staff. One of my favorites so far has been a rose from Morocco. I left with two, and my dinner party was very happy. I came back for more and was so sad to find they were sold out for the season! Fortunately, the owner (I think) pointed me in the direction of two other roses that were equally brilliant, if not better. I highly recommend this shop to anyone that lives nearby, works nearby, or plays nearby.
And please, Corkscrew, if you’re listening, consider opening a spot in Bushwick. Preferably on my block.

I live down the street but never had a chance to try this place. Today was my second visit this week (don’t judge). I must say, its refreshing to be met with such friendly employees who really know their shit. I described the kind of wine I wanted within a specific price range and was immediately shown three and given full explanations of each. No pretentious people here. Great wines at affordable prices. Will definitely be returning.
***After I posted this I read the other reviews — much of the same sentiments! I’m glad I’m not the last person left in Brooklyn who hates pretentious wine stores.

I love this place !! Everyone is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and they always have a great diverse, rotating selection. The prices are extremely reasonable. They track my purchases and easily recommend new things for me to try. I have loved every bottle I’ve purchased. Worth repeating. Every. Single. Bottle. Now that’s remarkable. They have a true devotee in me!

This is my favorite wine shop. I have 3 other wine shops closer to my apt, but opt to walk the extra few blocks because this one is so good. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly & unpretentious. I like to come in and have them make suggestions for me. I have never gotten a wine I didn’t like. The wines are always good! Love this place!

I can’t say how happy I am that Corkscrew has landed — practically outside my apartment. Actually, I can say… I’m very happy! First-​up, they know their stuff but present their options to you in an unpretentious and non-​judgemental way. They are fun but professional… and they love my dog! I like what they do with artwork, events and generally having a community focus.
If Myrtle Ave adds more small businesses like Corkscrew we are going to be a way better neighborhood for it. I highly recommend!

I can’t say too many good things about this shop, it’s cozy, well stocked, and has an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff who seem to know the ins and outs of every bottle they carry. Prices are always very affordable, I believe they offer some higher end wines but I haven’t needed to stray from anything under $ 20.
