Court Street Office Supplies

Love this place. Classic, old school office supply store with everything you could possibly need for business or school. I’m a nut for good pens and they have a HUGE selection that you can test out and buy individually. I always come all the way here from Park Slope just for their pens. They also sell most of their bulk supplies individually, which is great for someone like me who only needs a few plastic sheet protectors or hanging files once in a while and not the 100 pack in which they’re sold. Nice men that work there, too, and always well stocked, clean and organized.

4 ½ stars… loving the inventory here but not the prices. I guess this would be a great spot for a self-​employed Entrepreneur like myself with a soon-​to-​be Kindergartener in tow. It really has everything I could possibly need for a business though not as robust in terms of cool software like a Staples, but hey! Major kudos to them for staying on top of the game with everything else as a local business. I believe there is another location in downtown Brooklyn.
Like a true New Yorker, no small space goes wasted in this store as it is neatly packed with office supplies, educational books and toys along with office furniture. Absolutely love some of their stuff! :) To clarify what I mean by «stuff» I’m talking about Teacher Approved Home Workbooks, and they have turned me onto the Melissa & Doug brand too.

This is the only stationary/​office store in the area. It has been established in this area for as long as I remember. They have all types of paper, receipt books, envelopes of all sizes and yes office furniture. I only go there if I really need something and I can’t get to Office Max, Staples or in that arena.
I just get a vibe that I don’t like when I am there. They are friendly and make jokes with the customers. I guess my point is when I make a purchase I don’t care how small the item is, please place it in a bag. Don’t hand me my change and then we have to lock eyes and I have to ask for a bag. I would like to make the choice.

Great service. Walked in showed my Unilocal deal. They honored with no problem. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

This store has EVERYTHING that you can think of when it comes to stationary goods, pens, paper supply, etc. This stationary store appears to be a Jewish family owned business. I’m all for independent business that is independently run by family. However, their customer service department really needs improvement! If you look or dress a certain way, they approach their customers with an attitude that is really a turn off. Basically, they’re looking at you like a «smuck» just walked into their store. If you’re dress in a suit and tie, well… they’re all ears!
I had to pick up two copies of the Blumberg 201 form (Business Certificate) to register my business. Originally, I was going to purchase the forms online but it can only be purchased as packs instead of individual forms. Their legal forms and notary services is located at the end of the store in a room facing the back. Neither I nor my husband was approached with staff who offer the time or help. Most of them appeared to be too busy chatting or browsing on their computers. After browsing their forms, I patiently waited over 15 mins. before their clerk acknowledged me behind the counter. After I ask for the forms, he replied blankly «Yes, we have them. Just one?» And, I told him «two copies.» It was quick and straight to the point, «That will be $ 5.44.». The customer right behind me went straight to him with the same flat tone, «And, what can I do for you?» If it weren’t for their dismissive customer service, I would had gotten my notary done as well. I’ll take my business elsewhere, thanks.
I would recommend this place for the convenience to purchase the individual or separate forms. Other than that, just grab what you need and go!

This is like a candy store for office supply junkies! Plenty of interesting choices in pens and paper, including art supplies and some party-​oriented items. Pleasant staff.

(Kinkos) down the street, or Office Max on Atlantic Ave.

I am a young guy working hard to make ends meet, starting a furniture design business. I came in to this place to pick up the legal forms I needed to file a DBA at the county clerks office so I could get my business officially up and running with the proper licenses and whatnot. Doing it by the books. I told the guys what I needed to do, they told me I needed to buy two copies of this x201 form and I would need to talk to their notary guy who could help me fill them out and file them. I purchased the two copies of the form as instructed, and took them over to their notary desk. The notary guy told me he could fill out and file the forms for me for $ 200. I told him I could walk across the street to the clerks office and file them myself, and asked what I actually legally needed from him. He then said ok, I can type the forms up nice and notarize and laminate them for you for $ 25. It took some prying before he admitted that I could just fill out the forms myself with a pen and he could notarize them for $ 6, but for that price he wouldn’t answer my questions about how to fill out the form. I said fine, I’ll figure it out. I walked over to the clerks office, and it took less than 10 minutes to file myself and the woman at the clerks office told me how to fill out the form. When I provided the clerk with my two forms she told me I just needed one. She recognized the notary signature on my form and said he knows you only need one form and still continues to tell people they need to get two copies to make some extra money. The clerk I spoke with told me she doesn’t recommend anyone go to that stationary/​notary place because of these shady practices. After getting my business license all squared away I walked back to the court street office supplies store and called them out about misleading their customers to which they made up some lame excuse about there being a two form minimum purchase to dodge the blame.
In the process of trying to get the right paperwork to start your own honest business, I recommend taking your business somewhere that will be honest with you back.
Update: I just signed on and noticed a couple messages in my inbox from a «David F.» who was displeased about this review. Turns out this user David F. is Zvi J Indig, the notary public I mentioned in my review. You can find David F. under the reviews section for this business, posing as a happy customer leaving a nice review of himself. I feel like this is against the rules? Just digging himself deeper and deeper.

The best pen store EVER!!!
Whenever I need a pen, this is where I go.
I know what you’re thinking… «who likes pens?» well I do! The best part is they’re loose, so you can try the pens out before buying. Pretty cool.

This convenient and well-​stocked little stationery supply store is SO MUCH BETTER than Kinkos or Staples. It has saved the day on numerous occasions. Its wonderful to be able to deal with real people directly; rather than minimum-​wage kids in those big chains. This is a joint run by orthodox Jews and its really cool. You come in with a problem and they work with you to solve it; no matter what it takes. They know the business. Good experiences here.

I really needed a glue gun. Or really, to be honest, I had bought a glue gun the previous day at Michaels but the wrong size glue sticks. So either I needed a new glue gun to go with the wrong sticks or new sticks. The glue gun proved easier to find. On the website they have way more options (at least for glue guns/​sticks and other items I was looking to buy) and the store is really cramped. The nice Orthodox Jew (is that weird to say?) who rang me up congratulated me and I was confused so I kinda ignored it and then he said it again and pointed to my engagement ring. Perhaps it was obvious I was shopping for wedding craft purposes? Or I guess you can say congratulations no matter how long ago the engagement happened since you don’t know me? It caught me off guard but also made me smile.
I work in lower Manhattan so I legit got on the subway to come here for a glue gun. The store was more crowded than I anticipated it being. But FYI, glue guns are harder to find than you’d think!

A great neighborhood stationary store. OK so I’m a little into stationary stores, but this one comes well stocked with a well informed staff. Easy to print things off here too, for when you get tired of the dejection of Fed-​Ex Kinko’s.

They have a wider selection that includes the more traditional supplies, has a lot of personality, people are helpful if you ask. Sometimes the prices are lower than the chains. Sales on things. school supplies. yay.

The service here is terrific. It way beats going to boring Staples and supporting big bad business. You feel like you’re really in Brooklyn. Prices are high, you are paying more for the convenient location.

This place really does have everything and anything one person could possibly need. I found my report covers for about $ 1.80 a piece. This made me happy. lol. But were there any real workers, or were people just standing around because its the cool thing to do now a days? Yeah. Not once did anyone ask me if I needed help looking for something.
Not sure how I ended up in this store. Oh yeah! Because Duane Reade didn’t have what I was looking for, so BooM! Only spent like $ 6 on four report covers. Will I go back. Yeah. On line, I kept eyeing their extensive pen collection, but… maybe another day.

Popped in here to buy the Blumberg x201 forms (Business Certificate). The three forms came to just over $ 6.
They also offer notary services but when I was there, the notary had popped out so I didn’t get to use that.

This place has everything you need (even laminating!) and it’s really fun to browse. It might be a little dusty, but hey, don’t you want to support an independent, local business? Yes, you do! Really, they’ve got what you need. And good service, too!

How do you write an interesting review of an office supply store? Yeah, you don’t. You decide to be useful in lieu of attempts to be either funny or cool while describing their extensive selection of pens.
I don’t know of another office supply store near this location so it is in a good spot if you live in the Heights or Cobble Hill and need some printer cartridges, paper, etc. Actually this store was pretty vast in terms of the merchandise it carried. It was organized well, it was clean — frankly, I was expecting much less so I was pleasantly surprised.
I only went in to get printer cartridges, but the whole transaction took two minutes because they keep them all behind the counter. I awoke the guy reading the paper behind the desk, gave him the printer and he grabbed a color and black cartridge and I was out the door quickly.
No question I will go back here for my needs in the office supply department.
