I ordered a special funeral arrangement for my father in law’s wake from David Shannon Florist. I sent them a picture of a garbage truck that I wanted to have done. They not only did a beautiful job on the arrangement but were able to deliver it to Nassau County on the same day. My family was blown away by how much it looked like the picture I had sent them. I would use this florist again in a heartbeat.

Very helpful always! I always come here for my flowers every spring. Always helpful. Today I called while they wee closing and I told them I needed a fig tree for my dad to give him tomorrow on Father’s Day and they waited for me. I told them I was a few blocks away! Reasonable prices!

This is a great family run florist.
The have a huge selection of all different kinds of plants and equipment. The staff is not only very friendly towards all the customers, but also very knowledgeable about plants and farming.
One year I tried planting pumpkins seeds by following my own guesses, and nothing grew. The next spring I came here to buy some more pumpkin seeds and give it another try. The staff took the time to give me clear and useful tips and instructions (about things like how deep to the plant them, how far to separate the different seeds, how often to water them, etc). This time when I planted the seeds, it wasn’t long before I saw pumpkins beginning to grow.

Best florist/​nursery in all of NYC. I always come here and enjoy the old school mom and pop feel. The business is run by such genuine folks who provide the friendliest and best customer service. They have an exceptional collection of quality plants for decent prices. This place has been around forever and there’s a good reason why!

I called in February to order an arrangement for my best friend’s birthday. I wanted to make it really special for her because it will be her first birthday since her mother passed away. Her mothers favorite color was purple so I set out to find a purple flower bouquet. Came across their website and found the perfect bouquet I knew she would love! Called in to the florist gave them the item number, delivery address & my credit card info everything went smoothly until my friend posted a pic of the flowers on Instagram & they were a horrible yellow color! Mind you I ordered PURPLE!!!
Called the florist right away & a man with a West Indian accent answered the phone. Told him about the error & he said «the purple flowers that you ordered were dead so I sent out the yellow flowers with purple tips». The flowers had no hint of purple anywhere & the yellow was hideous! I told him what I paid for is what I expect to get. He shouldn’t have made a decision like that without contacting me first because I would’ve simply cancelled my order. His solution was «I can go take the flowers from her & refund your money». WTH!!! After I told him that was the most ridiculous thing he could come up with, he said the best he could do was give me $ 6.00 off my next order! I told him that he didn’t have to worry about it because I’ll never order from them again!

My go-​to nursery. I have a bunch of their plants growing in my house. They have employees who actually know about plants which is great. The nurseries are beautiful and they have a fantastic selection of hanging plants, trees and reg. plants. I like coming here and hope they never close.

I used Shannon florist for a baby shower. Joe was very helpful in choosing the perfect arrangement, delivered the flowers for a reasonable fee and blew me away with the beautiful arrangement. Overall great experience

I came here on Christmas Eve in search of a festive plant to bring to Christmas dinner. I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff, the surprisingly bountiful inventory considering I came in at the last minute on a major holiday and how nice a job they did gift-​wrapping. I ended up buying a beautiful Christmas cactus, and would be happy to return to Shannon’s next time I’m in Windsor Terrace and am in need of a floral gift.

BUYER BEWARE!
We have been buying flowers from Shannon for many years. A couple of weeks back my wife was buying flowers for the cemetery and she had noticed a funeral flower car loaded with flowers from a funeral pull into the parking lot. The driver unloaded the flowers then proceeded inside the florist. The owner of Shannon pulled out $ 20.00 from the register and hand it to the driver. So I guess next time you purchase certain flowers you maybe paying for recycled flowers at a premium price.

I wish I’d known about this spot sooner! As the name implies, David Shannon is a florist who does a fair amount of special occasion business [I mean.. . Greenwood Cemetery is right across the street]. What I wasn’t expecting was the sizeable nursery of outdoor plants and the multiple greenhouses. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable– they helped me pot some lavender and loaded my car for me. Bonus– there’s a small parking lot in addition to street parking.

This nursery and florist is a local mom and pop operation and it’s always better to support them than the big guy.
I’ve come here for plants and they have a good selection of annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees in three covered greenhouses that will thrive in our climate for both people with windowsill gardens and proper green space to fill. Along the inside hall are watering cans (~$ 5) and clay pots of various sizes (~$ 3-​$ 4), potting soil, spades, etc. When the watering can I bought was leaky, I brought it back and asked them to solder the leak, but they couldn’t help me.
At Christmastime, this is the place to get your tree. They have a wide selection spread throughout the lot and the helpful team will bundle it up for you. I got my 6-​foot tree and stand for about $ 30 here in 2011, so they’re also a lot cheaper than other places.
The hours are pretty questionable, however. It’s not for those of us who have jobs … as they close around 5pm, even during the peak holiday tree-​getting season. The staff are okay, but prefer to finish their private conversations as you awkwardly stand there rather than help you out. I’ve also called to ask when they were closing and told one time, only to show up to find the place locked down.

it’s operated by a family (the Perrottas) that genuinely care about their customers, whether you’ve been going here for 30 years or you’re some newbie transplant to the area. the workers here are so friendly and helpful, the quality & selection is awesome, and the prices are great.
they deliver floral arrangements anywhere in the five boroughs, including hospitals, senior care facilities, funeral parlors, and cemeteries. I think every major event in my family had flowers from here (mostly, if not exclusively). we regularly get wreaths/​flower beds here for relatives who are buried across the street in Greenwood Cemetery.
aside from arranged flowers, they also sell gardening supplies (mulch, top soil, tools, etc), as well as decorative plants and fruits/​vegetables for your home garden. in October, check out their pumpkins.
why waste your time with crappy plants from Home Cheapot that’ll die in two weeks? Shannon’s the way to go.

I have to change my review… they’re really the only place nearby for Christmas trees, so we went back the next year, and the next. We also went for potting soil, and a few other things, including an arrangement for the grave of a friend in Greenwood across the street.
The products have been great (including the trees), and the service has always been excellent. Everyone there has always been super nice and professional, while being warm.
I like this place a LOT. We must’ve just got a dud tree that one year.

I’ve loved this place for years now, great service and genuinely nice staff. They gave us a great discount on our school plant project above and beyond what most would do. Just a terrific family owned business.

A real nursery in Brooklyn. They have a good selection of annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees for landscaping. They also sell organic soil, mulch, fertilizer, etc. They will load everything in your car or deliver for a fee. Beats Home Depot & Lowes where the bags of soil and mulch are always ripped and you have to get 2 cubic feet ripped bag into the cart and then into your car yourself, and they you have to vacuum your trunk.
They cost more than HD but they are a local family business and their products are higher quality. They also have plants you won’t always find at HD and more mature trees and shrubs for landscaping.
They accept credit cards.
I have not used them as a florist.

I ordered flowers the day before my girl friends bithday from their website. I ordered «Zen Artistry» which makes a nice table centerpiece. I got the deluxe upgrade but I’m not sure what part was the upgrade since the delivered bouquet looked exactly as pictured for standard. It contained Purple dendrobium orchids in a nice black flat container. It looked fantastic and I was pleased with it. I was glad the vase was black because it looks better than the green one pictured.
I had to call them and ask them to ring some other bells in the building since she decided to go out unexpectedly. They found a neighbor to let them in and put the flowers right at her door as I had hoped.
I would definitely use them again.

I was actually quite impressed with the vast selection of flora here. At first I didn’t know what to expect, except from what I could see on the outside. Inside, however, there are about 3 or 4 respectable sized greenhouses, each appearing climate controlled and housing specific types of flowers and/​or plants. The one qualm I did have is that many of the flowers and plants didn’t have identification labels on them. I’m not exactly an expert in horticulture, so I think it’s helpful to have labels that indicate the type/​name of plant or flower and how to best care for it. With that stated, you have to seek out help from staff to get answers on these specifics. For the most part, I was impressed with the selection of pots, which I suppose were a bit pricey, but I guess I’d rather spend more for quality than buying something sub par and cheap at Lowe’s or Home Depot (and that includes flowers and plants too).
I ended up getting an assortment of flowers (to plant), garden soil, and a couple of matching flower pots (made in Thailand) to get a jump start on spring planting. I will definitely come here again for additional flora!

nice family owned business and reasonable selection. various times i dealt with people who were not knowledgable. all in all an ok place for selection and price.

we just threw a bridal shower for my sister today, and we ordered 4 bouquets — 1 large and 3 medium — from Shannon’s. i don’t know a lot about flowers but all 4 bouquets were gorgeous. they took us in the back so we could pick out some flowers and discuss color schemes, they worked with the vase we provided, and i’m pretty sure they gave us a significant discount. i would most definitely go to them again.
