Daycare Shining Smiles

My daughter Skylar attended Shining Smiles Daycare from age 4 months to 17 months. It was the best experience I could ask for as a first time mom returning to work from maternity leave. Jesy, Janine, Giselle, and Frankie were the absolute best; they have become like family. Unfortunately, we had to leave following a move out of the borough however I would highly recommend Shining Smiles especially for mom’s returning to work with younger children. They maintain a 2:1 ratio between care giver and child and provide a nurturing environment for the kids.

We needed a daycare to help with our daughter after my wife’s maternity leave from work was over. Shining Smiles was a phenomenal choice of caring from our daughter while she was 3 months to 10 months old.
With 2:1 teacher to child ratio, we knew she was going to get the attention needed, and we really saw our daughter thrive
Jesy, Jeanine, Frankie & Gisselle were almost like a second family for her, and we were sad to need to leave when my job relocated us. They even threw her a one year birthday party before we left, since it was close enough.
We can’t recommend them enough for anyone needing early childcare in Brooklyn.

I can’t say enough great things about Shining Smiles and the wonderful women that make the place so special. Our daughter Penelope has attended Shining Smiles full time for the past seven months and we couldn’t be happier with the care she’s received in that time. She can hardly wait to get out the door each morning to go to «school» and we love how much she’s learning every day. It’s been so great to see her make friends and learn new skills in such a warm, caring, and safe environment. Finding great childcare that met all of our criteria was a challenging task and I’m very happy to strongly recommend Shining Smiles!

Our daughter Addison (now 17 months) has been full time attending Shining Smiles for the past seven months. The caregivers are now like family to her and she repeatedly leaps out of my arms to hug them each morning.
Leaving your little one every day to work full time is not easy, so knowing she is in good care and happy is so very important. My husband and I feel that comfort every day because of the team at Shining Smiles. They balance her having fun, with making sure she eats well, naps, and grows by leaps and bounds day after day.
The location is also convent for us as we previously found a lack of options in the Downton Brooklyn neighborhood, close to the major subway lines.
We strongly recommend Shining Smiles for other families looking for great care and attention for their little ones!

My son started daycare a month ago and it was probably the hardest thing as a parent for me to do. He was only 6 months old and I really wanted to hold off on it. I toured shining smiles and I really liked the set up and how the babies had the place to themselves and were free to roam. My kid enjoys his freedom since he started crawling and standing. I have to say what a change I have seen in my son since he started daycare. He comes home very happy and verbal. I see him do something new everyday. The ladies here genuinely care about the kids and give you a complete rundown on your child’s day verbally and on paper. I regret not putting him in soon. Everyone is much happier because of it.

Our baby has been going to this place for about 3 months now — first two months on part time basis, now full time. This place is amazing. The staff are nice — to the baby and to us (willing to work with our schedule). The rates are rather affordable given that everything is expensive on this part of Brooklyn. Our baby boy is rather temperamental but it seems like the staff knows what to do, and we swear that he is now behaving better than before. The best part about this place is that they provide a summary of what he did during the day — verbally and on a summary sheet (paper).
The place is not the largest, perhaps 600f2, smaller than its sister day care in Park Slope but it’s more conveniently located than the other.

Finding a daycare is always a hard time for parents, even more if you are first-​time parents, and your family lives thousand of miles away from NY. Well, that was our case. After visiting several daycares, we found Shining Smiles. Unlike most of the daycares we visited, this place is «open doors». Of course that no parent wants to interfere with the activities in the daycare, but knowing that you can stop by and see how everything is going on, is something that make us feel safe and happy. Another aspect that we like is the caregiver-​child ratio. The staff is really nice, attentive, and competent. We also like that they provide a written daily report. The space is very clean and spacious enough, and we like that, so far, it is not crowded. The owner, Eunice, is flexible, dedicated and always responsive. My baby started there when he was 7 months old (now he is 9 months old), and he really likes the caregivers and enjoy a lot the other babies company.
Overall, my husband and I feel very comfortable that our little one is in this daycare, and most important, he is very happy! We would recommend Shining Smiles without reservation.

Our daughter has been there since she was 4 months old. We were looking for a daycare that would treat our daughter with as much love and attention as we were giving her.
At this age they are still so vulnerable and need so much.
Shining smiles is the only place that I would consider out of all the places I visited. They are really loving and delicate with infants. I could not have imagined leaving my baby at a place I did not feel 100% comfortable with. They respect each infant’s schedule and are very sweet, patient and attentive. Also, they specialize in infants and the ratio caretaker/​baby is from 1 to 2.

When my wife and I were looking for day cares, we had 3 priorities — attentive staff, low infant to caretaker ratio and convenience.
Shining Smiles has an experienced staff, very clean environment and best of all is 1 block from where we live in Downtown Brooklyn
We’ve had our daughter in their care for 2 months now and she is always leaves happy
They are extremely communicative and provides us with regular updates on her development

Its hard to find a good daycare in Downtown Brooklyn and for the past year or so we’ve had to bring our son to Bumble Bee Day Care in Park Slope which was a great place but a real trek since we live right by the bridge.
I’ve had my son at Shining Smiles for about a month now and its a clean, warm and caring environment. The transition was easy and we love the staff. Their prices are reasonable and for infants, they have a very low 2 to1 ratio.
I feel very comfortable having my son in their care.
