Furniture came on time and as ordered. It was put together quickly. I needed a small repair and someone came out promptly to fix it, which I appreciated. Prices are good, too. I would recommend this place. They are also very responsive to email concerns.

Terrific company. Delivered a nice couch at a reasonable price, only a few days after ordering. The delivery guys parked down the block and carried the couch over, and walked up my fifth-​floor walk-​up without complaining once. The company reps were very responsive and accommodated my schedule for the delivery.

I had a pleasant experience buying furniture from downtown furniture. I asked a lot of questions when choosing the furnitures, and they always answered my queries promptly and patiently. On the day of delivery, the delivery people came at the time they promised, which is a pleasant surprise (in my prior experience of furniture or appliance delivery, those people were never able to keep time).
One of the furniture unfortunately didn’t work out and I had to return it, and they accept my return without questions and are quick to pick it up. — They do charge restocking fee which is stated upfront in their web page, but I think their effort to deliver, assemble, and pick up is well worth the restocking fee.

I did all of my shopping online (which I know is a risk, but I needed to furnish a new apartment quickly and had terrible experiences with some of the other major furniture dealers in town). The furniture is beautiful and the customer service was great. I initially ordered just a bedroom set and set a delivery date. Then I emailed several times to tack on more items for the same delivery date and they were always kind and accommodating. The day of delivery, there was a blizzard and I fully expected them to have to reschedule. But they were on time, did a great job of assembly/​arranging and were very nice guys. (They said they saw that we had bedroom furniture in the order and they didn’t want us to have to go without a bed overnight if they rescheduled). I highly recommend.

I ordered a beautiful and modern glass table and the experience couldn’t have been better! I chose Downtown Furniture because their price was the cheapest but most importantly elsewhere online the delivery was sketchy (I would have had to take it off their truck myself) and assembly was not included or offered. Downtown delivered and assembled all for free and had fantastic customer service. I will definitely shop with them again!

i have now purchased furniture twice from Downtown Furniture and their service and product is excellent! they offer free delivery, installation and a 10% discount — plus they match price! they delivered quickly and on MY schedule, which almost never happens. i also have to say that the furniture arrives in pristine condition and they stand by their product. if something is scratched, they WILL replace it! this is NOT IKEA, this quality, adult furniture. i will continue to purchase furniture from Downtown Furniture in the future and i recommend you purchase from them, too. check out their website and email me them with any questions. you will get a prompt, clear response from an actual person– not a customer service rep! support small local business and shop this company!

ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH IT. Get cheap furniture from Ikea or Target or anywhere else. I bought a dresser for under $ 300 thinking I got a great deal with delivery and assembly included. Right after the warranty was up it started breaking. Now after about 8 months, my dresser is completely broken and I have to buy a new one because it’s out of warranty. I’ve treated it with care and I haven’t stuffed too many things inside of it. There is no reason I should be replacing this less than a year after I bought it. Don’t make the same mistake I did, spend a little more and don’t worry about replacing your furniture twice a year.
PS– the delivery/​assembly men were extremely rude

The sofa bed I wanted was on backorder so these guys kindly waived the walkup fee for me to wait for it to arrive (which only took 2 wks) They did a wonderful job, were courteous and arrived on time + assembled my couch quickly. Cleaned up and neatly curbed all the packaging too. Great deal and very good service from DTF.

I highly recommend this furniture shop. When I moved to New York I purchased most furniture there at good price and very conveniently. I found that this shop carries good quality furniture and they offers free delivery and assembly, which save a lot of headache for me. Overall, I was very happy to furnish my space so quickly and conveniently.

We had a goal of furnishing a studio apartment with stylish, smaller-​scale, inexpensive furniture, and Downtown Furniture helped us meet that goal. It is truly a great disappointment that their website shows thousands of items, but you can see very little in their showroom. However, I called many furniture stores and they told me pretty much the same thing — you can order from their website but you can’t see the furniture in their showroom.
It is extremely difficult to find furniture that is not big and hulky or oversized. And, when you do, it’s usually priced in the high hundreds, if not the thousands. At Downtown Furniture, we managed to find a table and chairs, sofa sleeper, desk, and full sized bed that all fit wonderfully in the apartment and that were all pretty reasonably priced. We also ordered a bookcase, floor lamp, and mattress.
In any event, we completely furnished the apartment within our budget and, best of all, both the delivery and assembly (which was extensive) were included. The delivery guys were fast, nice, and efficient.
The sofa arrived slightly damaged, and they were super-​quick to replace the damaged piece, no questions asked. If we had been able to see more furniture in the store, I would give them five stars, but, other than that, we were extremely happy from beginning to end with their customer service and their prices, and we would definitely order from them again.

This place is terrible. I ordered nearly $ 700 in furniture, And was very clear with them they needed to complete the delivery by 4 pm due to my building rules. I called them day of the delivery to confirm and was told its not a problem. I called at 3:30 at which point they said thy could not complete the delivery. I worked really hard to be as flexible as possible given my tight schedule, giving them a time extension after begging my building, offering them a different morning, and they were utterly useless-​nothing seemed to work for them. I ended up asking for a refund– let’s hope this gets done! Since thy are so incompetent, I don’t trust them. Thank goodness I paid by credit card and they will dispiute the charge if need be. If you are foolish enough to buy from this place despite my review, I suggest you don’t pay cash.

First let me say that we did not go into the store so I can’t review the actual store itself. However, after a nightmare experience with Bobs Discount Furniture I found this place. I found the couch we liked on the website… looked up reviews on the product and placed the order over the phone. We got free delivery and 15% off so the total came to $ 150 less than the one we had cancelled from Bobs. They delivered it one week later, set it up and we have been in love with the couch ever since. I highly recommend this place!

The most important thing for me when I read reviews and shop around is that I put matters in perspective. I shopped from this place twice. While it is not my «go to» furniture shop, I usually re-​visit the website to see if there are furniture that match my price range and preference. I am aware that you pay for what you get. With that being said, I was very happy that I didn’t allow the Unilocal rating to deter me from shopping here. My first purchase arrived exactly on the day I requested and the assembly job was complimentary. The wardrobe was in excellent condition and placed nicely in my bedroom. I really have no complaint that’s why I’m in the processing of ordering from them again. This time around, the sales agent was very diligent with helping me. When the furniture I wanted was in back order, the sales agent went through my list of criteria and picked out a few selection that matched with what I was looking for.

Not going to lie and say this place is off the charts, but I was looking for furniture with a strict budget and found some great deals here. Like all the other reviewers said, the showroom is kind of messy and disorganized, but if you like hunting for bargains… this is the place to go! They’re actually having a moving sale this month so there are tons of floor samples in good condition at fabulous prices. I would recommend going to check it out especially if you are trying to tidy up the apartment before the holiday parties like I am! Haha!

Very cheaply made furniture. Bought a sofa — good price but upholstery ripped after one month. So uncomfortable to sit on– boards underneath coming up through upholstery. Fabric is already looking old and worn and there are just the two of us (adults) living here so no kids jumping on the sofa — in fact, we only sit on it in the evening and it’s already falling apart. Have only had it for four months. The delivery was free and the person who delivered it was great. Set it up for us, but the quality is poor. Better to spend a little more on a sofa that will last.

Purchased an Armoire and Replacement Glass Table Top on Tuesday, it was delivered on Friday as agreed. I price checked the armoire with several other sites and it was a great deal especially since it was free assembly and delivery to the top floor of a brownstone. I would definitely order from them again.

These guys rocked! Good price for quality of furniture and tack on free delivery and installation and WIN WIN! You’re not going to be paying for customer service, these dudes are just a couple of gruff no nonsense chinamen (which was fine w/​me bc I’m chinese and I know the type). Come in with furn boxed up real careful not to scuff up walls or floors and then assemble FAST. One of our nightstands was dinged up at the warehouse and they replaced it for us the very next day. How awesome is that?
They’re not frilly or fancy but you’re not looking for that. You’re looking for speed and reliability and these boys got it in spades.
Hint: While in the store talking to reps, be nice and you’ll get a good price! Don’t be afraid to haggle.

This is actually 3.5 stars. I bought a nice couch from this store, and they had it in my living room THE NEXT DAY — FOR FREE. The showroom is in Chinatown, and I live in Fort Greene, in a 4^th floor walkup apartment, so I really appreciated the free delivery.
You can pretty much do your shopping online (they will actually tell you that in the store!) as the showroom is in an out of the way location and it’s a big, dusty mess — but I think most people will want to check out the way the furniture feels or get a better idea of the color. The salespeople are definitely a bit pushy.
In the end, I think I got a decent price on my couch, and I like my purchase a lot, so I am pretty satisfied.

I’m kind of split. Its basically what it says, a downtown furniture shop. Three floors stuffed with couches, tables, beds, etc. Most of it is modestly priced. Though I did find the same couch online for a couple hundred less. At the same time I found a computer desk on their website I once bought at crate & barrel for much cheaper than I originally bought it. Of course when I went to the store they didn’t have the desk in stock and had to order it but was discontinued.
I guess if you see something on their website call ahead. Free shipping to your home if they have to order it.

Like one of the previous reviewers mentioned, the showroom is loosely organized and the place is packed with furniture from wall to wall. Don’t expect a pretty showroom floor or excellent customer service. But if you’re looking for designer-​type furniture at decent prices, I’d consider taking a look at their website or their showroom. However, not all that you see on their website is available on their showroom.
Contrary to Vanessa V., I didn’t see or experience the mold problems and I didn’t notice any other customers having any problems either. Like I said, the place is not setup to be a pretty showroom floor like typical furniture stores. Maybe that’s why they can afford to sell their stuff a little cheaper because of less overhead and they don’t have to keep the place looking that nice.
The quality of the furniture seemed pretty decent (comparable or slightly better than Ikea) with mostly modern or trendy designs. If you’re into vintage or older designed pieces, this is probably not the place for you.
The prices seemed pretty fair, maybe slightly cheaper for some of the designer pieces especially. But FREE delivery is what eventually closed the deal for us. Most places were charging $ 100 to $ 150 to deliver within Manhattan. One place was charging us $ 99 just to have it delivered 3 avenues down!
