ZEROSTARS. I cannot believe the awful experience I had here. I brought in two skirts for alterations, one to take in, one to let out. The one they took in looks fine enough and was worth the $ 20 to fix it. The other one was returned to me untouched except for a single hook and eye added. For this I paid $ 20? I hate complaining, but this was outrageous. So I went in to get my $ 20 back. So far so good. But I could not believe the tailor’s response to my complaint. She found my bill, which said clearly the skirt was to be let out at the waist and that the cost for this was $ 20. «I would never charge $ 20 for a hook and eye,» she said, and therefore, she claimed, if she had charged me $ 20 that meant she must have altered the skirt. Except that she hadn’t altered it. I told her she hadn’t. But rather than saying sorry or giving me back my money, she continued to protest. Well then, she said, there must have been another skirt that she altered and charged me for. There wasn’t. Well then, she must have altered the damned skirt. She hadn’t. Well then, there must have been a third skirt, because«I would never charge $ 20 for a hook and eye.» Except that she did. Why would I go to the trouble of coming back and complaining otherwise? I’m annoyed about the $ 20, but what I really care about is the principle of the thing. She was so rude, so infuriating, so unapologetic, and the whole thing was so stupid and could have been avoided had she just said, «Oh, sorry, my mistake. Here’s your $ 20.» Instead I have to write this review to warn all of you never ever to go to this woman. Never ever go to this woman. She’s a dishonest jerk.

Great for minor alterations of all kinds — and from the general vibe of the place, the dresses they’re always working on, the no-nonsense friendly competence of the women who work here, and all the positive reviews, the next time I need major work done on an article of clothing, this is where I’ll take it.

E&L saved my wedding. I purchased a custom suit online that was meant to be perfectly tailored but of course, was not. It was sized for someone three times my weight and height. The lovely women at E&L were able to fix my suit perfectly in plenty of time for my wedding. They were attentive and walked me through each alteration. They even apologized that they couldn’t do the fixes for cheaper even though it was a ton of work. Their work is worth every penny!

E&L(also known as Agnes Tailors and Cleaners) is by far the best tailor in Windsor Terrace. Their work is extremely affordable and top notch. They treat your garments with the care and attentiveness you’d give them yourself. Their shop is impeccably clean, well organized, and uncluttered. There is no filthy poorly care-for cat roaming around the premises. I gave them a dress with a lot of parts from J. Crew and wanted the lining removed. They did the job expertly at a cost of just $ 20. They did an excellent job shortening my coats. They always explain how a job needs to be done, so the customer understands what is involved. I would trust them with everything from business clothing to formal attire. They have custom wedding gowns and dresses and display, and their skill is formidable. Their shop is pleasant and charming. I highly recommend them.

Really affordable quality work. I had a pair of pants needing a new hidden zipper and a second pair where the store had left the ink tag on. The lovely ladies here took care of both for less than $ 20! Quick, cheap, and the work is flawless. I’ll be back again for alterations. Highly recommend this business.

I have been here a few times now, and they’ve done great work, including a re-work on a bridesmaid dress that had some particular requirements. This is a no frills shop with one dressing room, but it’s never been too packed. The two bridesmaid dresses I have had taken in($ 35) and hemmed($ 25) were $ 60 each. Hemmed jeans were ~$ 8, and a hemmed skirt was $ 10. All had around a one week turnaround, but I haven’t needed any rush alterations.

Just had a great experience here. My wife needed a vintage dress altered for a wedding next week. The ladies of E&L managed to do wonders in a matter of hours and were very friendly in the process. They took the time to carefully assess the dress and the final results were perfect. It’s nice to know there is such a good tailor in the neighborhood.

These ladies know their stuff, working quickly and at very reasonable prices. They custom tailored my suit to perfection. I wouldn’t even consider going anywhere else for my tailoring.

The finest tailor I’ve ever used, bar none. Removing shoulder pads. Replacing zippers. Adding darts. Patching jeans. Recrafting antique tablecloths. These gals can do it all — expertly, caringly, thoughtfully, and with an eye on my wallet. There is nothing I won’t ask them to do, and it’s almost fun to buy a garment that’s two sizes too large now(if I can’t get it in my size) because I KNOW this place will be able to fix it to fit like a glove(or whatever is needed). They are equally at home with men and women, small and large, and they throw in the extra touch of phoning to remind me to stop by if my garments hang just a few days too long. They’re often working in the wee hours on Friday nights and will squeeze in your emergencies. What a find! One note: cash only.
