Outside of these particular circumstances: not a terrible laundromat. Reasonably clean, if outrageously overpriced(25 cents for FIVE minutes? Surely you jest). However, the drop-off rates are not bad, so that’s exactly what I did. Cut to one night later, when smoke is billowing out of the windows, four firetrucks are clogging Graham Ave and about 20 years worth of LINT is sluggishly oozing down the street in the runoff from the hoses. I rage stroke at the impossible idiocy of a laundromat never bothering to clean the mothership lint trap and lament the loss of at least 16 pairs of decent women’s underwear. There is drinking. THEN, I get a call. My clothes are there! Great, I am pleased. Inside, it’s busted and still smoky as hell. I ask the owner if I will be refunded the silly 10 dollars I spent to have my clothes doused in ash. She hems and haws and insists they don’t smell at all. She is… wrong. They smell like Pompeii. Like Joan of Arc’s going away party. They are covered in ashes and even to my baseline sensibility re: hygiene, un-fucking-wearable. I’m terrible at confrontation, so I ask again — very nicely, and she refuses. Maybe I’m overreacting? But think this is pretty poor sportsmanship for a small business. I will not be going back, lest Hanes(what what) start fireproofing their panties. Shame on you, Econo-wash. SHAME.

UPDATE: This baby burned down in a fire last night. Will be closed indefinitely and the owners are planning on opening something else up in the space once it’s cleaned up from the fire. Was a great throwback laundromat while it was open. She will be missed. Was a 5 star joint in my book before the fire put it out of commission. Take your laundering needs down the street to Laundry on Graham, they’re good people and super close.

My new go-to laundromat as I live across the street. This place is a great run of the mill laundromat. Employees are nice, the hours accommodate us 9−6ers and contrary to their name, they provide wash and fold at 80 cents per lb. If you live in the hood — worth checking out. No dry cleaning.
