Meet the Business Owner

kari B.

Business Owner

Kari Browne is the owner of ELK. Before opening ELK, Kari was a Journalist and News Producer for the BBC. Her work with the BBC took her all over the world. In 2009 Kari had her first son and quickly realized that life on the road was not conducive to raising a little baby. She decided to switch gears and start a coffee shop that allowed her to work close to home and fill an untapped need within her community. She opened LARK after realizing a growing need for a family friendly coffee house where parents could gather during the day and bring their kids without feeling bad about the extra noise or extra mess that comes along with kids in public places. She also realized the desire for a space to host activities like sing-alongs and story times for young kids in the community. Kari has enjoyed being a business owner and mom of two boys and loves contributing to the exciting entrepreneurial fabric that is spreading across Brooklyn. Kari also owns LARK Café.
