The worst experience I’ve ever had at the doctor’s. People who hate people should NOT become doctors. I wish I had read the reviews before I went. The horrible things she said, the unprofessionalism of the staff (whispering about patients in the hallway for other patients to hear!, misplacing urine samples, etc), the number of times she snapped at me as if I was an annoying child… I left completely unsettled about my health. I went back for an urgent matter on a day she wasn’t in so I saw her office colleague, who actually explained test results to me as Dr. Cherisme had NOT done the previous visit. I will say that you can get an appointment immediately (well, she’s only in the office one day/​week), so that’s why I went to her as often as I did. No more!

I debated whether or not to write this review, but I wish I had read reviews before I went to see this doctor and saved myself the horrible experience, so perhaps this review will help someone else who is searching for a gynecologist in Brooklyn (not an easy task). Nothing against Dr. Cherisme as a person, but my experience with her and her office was AWFUL. I waited forever to see the doctor, even though I showed up on time for my appointment– even worse, they had me waiting in her office, with nothing to do or read and no way to check in on how much longer it would be, and the wait went on so long that I had to call my clients and move my afternoon appointments TWICE (I am self employed and I had scheduled myself several hours for this appointment, that should have been plenty of time). It was her last day seeing patients before her maternity leave, so I understand that it was a busy day for her, and also an exciting one– the staff had thrown her a mini baby shower party during lunch time. HOWEVER, given her packed schedule and that it was her last day seeing all of her existing patients before being on leave for maternity, there is no way the front desk should have scheduled a new patient for her that day. Even worse, this lunch time mini baby shower party took place while I was sitting, alone, dumbfounded and upset, waiting for her in her office. It’s not clear whether or not anyone had told her I was waiting, but I am pretty sure she did know — the point is someone really dropped the ball here, and by the time she came in to talk to me I was in tears– to which she reacted to with complete surprise. She was very awkward and while she did try to calm me down, she acted like it was extremely unusual for me to be upset.
Long story short, I got no useful information from her whatsoever except that she felt I should go back on the pill, even though I had made it clear that I had no intention to do that whatsoever, which made me feel I wasn’t being listened to and that my choices about my own body weren’t being supported. I got no real explanation of anything I had come in to talk about, and left there feeling it had been a waste of time and money. She wasn’t unfriendly, but the entire experience was very unprofessional and upsetting and I would NEVER go back.

Ladies… Stay away! I am so disappointed after my visit with Dr. Cherisme. Unprofessional, unpleasant and definitely not someone I ever want to see again! It was a total waste of time. 2.5 hours for absolutely nothing. The only person who was pleasant was the front office person. Otherwise, don’t bother wasting your precious time.

Showed up early for both visits and waited 45 minutes to see her. One appointment was at 9am and she didn’t walk in the office until after 9:30am. When explaining my test results she was so unclear and curt and clearly wanting out of the room I was terrified. Not good.

Nobody likes going to the ob/​gyn, and after one appt with Dr. Cherisme, I like it even less! She was rude and impersonal, and I left feeling skittish and hopeless.
Having recently switched neighborhoods, I thought switching doctors would be a good move, but I’d rather travel an hr on the subway than go back to a doctor that doesn’t care about her patients. The long wait didn’t help matters, either.

Steer clear! The only reason she gets two stars is I was able to get an appointment on short notice.
I’ve been to the office twice now and both times I went in perfectly calm and left a nervous wreck because of her utter lack of attention, bedside manner and timeliness. After waiting over an hour to see the doctor on my first visit, I was led into an office for an intake session. Dr. Cherisme, without introducing herself or even wearing a lab coat to indicate that she was, in fact, the doctor, started reading me off a list of incisive questions that I could have answered during the hour that I had been waiting to see her. She didn’t seem to really pay attention to my responses, so she kept asking me questions that my previous answers had rendered inapplicable (I guess no one printed «If ‘no’, skip to question 9» on the form…) Afterward, she asked me why I had come in and, without any response or explanation of what they were going to do for /​to me, she had the nurse lead me into another room to take my blood. Yikes. They set up an appointment for me to come in a week later to get the results, which I was assured would be a very quick visit. Not only did I have to wait another hour for, literally, «You’re fine. Want the pill?» (which neither answered nor addressed my actual question) they charged me for an entire separate appointment. So upsetting.
