Dr. Last has been providing quality dentistry to children and adults since 1981. Always believing in treating patients the way he would want to be treated, there is usually no waiting at your given appointment.

Our dental practice is limited to people who want to save their teeth. In our spacious, comfortable office, patients receive skilled and concerned care. Our equipment and techniques are among the most advanced. You will find us competent and understanding whether you need a simple filling, cleaning or require a crown, bridge or complete dental restoration.

Dr. Last is a graduate of New York University College of Dentistry, one of the best in the country. He has been a dentist for over 28 years and has been through many post graduate courses in different fields of dentistry since receiving his D.D.S. degree. Dr. Last is also an attending Staff Dentist at Long Island College Hospital and a Member of the American Dental Association (ADA).

His emphasis on patient comfort as well as keeping up-​to-​date with the latest advancements in dentistry enable him to provide his patients with the best quality of care in the field. Dr. Last has a wide range of experience in different areas of dentistry, from cosmetic and restorative dentistry to surgical treatments and root canal treatments.

His approach to your treatment starts with patiently listening to you. Then, after a complete and thorough examination, he reviews and discusses the diagnosis and treatment options with you.

I went to Dr Last after reading all the other positive reviews. He doesn’t take my insurance, so I am paying out of pocket and getting hardly anything back from my insurance. Well, he is worth the cost! Which, by the way, seemed on par with other Brownstone Brooklyn dentists. You get what you pay for! The office is very relaxing, clean and modern, no long wait. As for Dr Last… I’m in love! He met me when I was experiencing multiple life problems and was truly stressed out. Then I found out that my tooth was in worse shape than I thought and it needs to come out. I was really upset. Dr Last was such a compassionate listener! He explained what I needed to do, allowed me time to collect myself, and was genuinely concerned about my emotional well-​being. I have met other dentists who are much more concerned with keeping to their schedule and have no time for hand-​holding. Dr Last was completely different. So I was able to relax enough for him to work on my teeth. And, yes, he is a pro at giving a novocaine injection! I never felt the needle go in, no LITTLE PINCH that’s really a big OUCH!
So I would recommend him to anyone who is terrified of seeing a dentist.

First point of contact: smart@ss receptionist not being very nice nor smart about making a first impression. Second, I come in for a cleaning, office is super hot, no ventillation. The place is deserted — I wonder why… I’m taken care of by a hygienist for a cleaning who is a poor communicator, barely audible and speaks with a heavy latino accent, very hard to understand. I dont trust her. No Dr. Last in sight. Equipment is broken in the room which doesn’t instill a whole lot of trust or confidence in the place. I think he should change his name to Dr. No.

My visit to Dr. Last’s office was truly great. I have had trouble finding a good dentist in NY for years, but the hygienist at his office did a great job on my teeth, and Dr. Last gave me a great assessment. I will definitely be back.

Dr. Last has been my dentist for 30 years. He is absolutely amazing and I doubt there is a better dentist anyplace. I have always had ‘problem teeth’ and he has successfully tackled each problem, from simple fillings, to root canals, to crowns, to bonding. Due to my nighttime teeth-​grinding, he provided me with a bite-​guard which has helped greatly. His treatments are conservative — he doesn’t just rush in and start pulling teeth — and creative and I am happy to say that my aging teeth look better now than they ever did. Staff is most accommodating and pleasant. I highly recommend him to any and all.

I almost look forward to coming to see Dr. Last, which is saying something for a dentist! He is patient, kind, conservative in his treatments, and explains what he’s doing as he goes along – what you’re about to feel, etc. I always feel better when doctors and dentists clue me in on what’s about to happen – it makes you feel a little more in control. I’ve had bad experiences with doctors dropping tools on my chest repeatedly, yelling about their tennis matches while they work, charging thousands of dollars for preventative treatments that they admit might not matter until I’m 90 (not exaggerating) etc. Chose Dr. Last instead!

Dr. Last has been my dentist since I moved in across the street from his office in 1997. He is the best at targeting novocaine at the right nerve and he will work hard to save a tooth whenever possible. Too many dentists are willing to extract at the first sign of difficulty and go for a bridge or denture. Dr. Last is all about keeping your teeth intact and functional. He’s also extremely patient; I have a real bad habit of not being able to breathe out while holding my tongue in a place where water does not bother me in my throat. It must be very distracting to him, but he notices everything and makes sure to take occasional breaks. Dr. Last also has a good sense of humor and gets to know his patients. I would tell anyone to use his services if they want the best that NYC has to offer.

Dr. Last has been our family dentist for over ten years, and I’ve referred many friends to him. He is that rare combination of extremely expert and also kind, compassionate, and gentle. I’ve needed extensive dental work over the past two years due to an injury caused by an accident, and Dr. Last has treated me and advised me so well. His referrals to other professionals (surgeon, endodontist) have all been good, and he’s handled the communications smoothly. I’ve found that Dr. Last is consistently medically conservative and never pushes any kind of treatments or products — he gives you your options, offers his opinion, and is supportive all the way. I was especially anxious and fragile after my accident, and Dr. Last intuitively knew to be extra gentle with me. He just never wants to hurt you. I also had some very tricky complications with fitting my implants, and he came up with creative solutions that saved time, money, and headache. For someone who has always hated going to the dentist, I’m truly surprised to have a dentist I love.

I heard about Dr. Last when I was speaking to my friend about needing to find a new dentist. the next thing I know, the man next to me turns around and says «I have the best Dentist– I’m serious, you will be so happy with him». His name is Dr. Last.
One word… Serendipity.
True to this kind man’s recommendation, Dr. Last is an amazing dentist, very thorough, honest and the best bedside manner I have almost encountered. What dentist can be reached on a Saturday by calling his cell phone for a question about my inflamed gums? Dr. Last.
His office manager Lisa was always very helpful with appointments and extremely sweet. My cleaning was with Noimie– she was also very thorough and gentle. one of my best cleanings yet. Any x-​rays that were taken, Jennifer was so gentle and kind.
I thought I should pass on this «gem» find to others looking for a dentist in the Brooklyn Heights area, and even if you live elsewhere… the commute is definitely worth it!
I hope this recommendations helps others :) My smile is a little bit bigger and brighter because of Dr. Last and his staff.

Dr. Last and his team are fantastic. I’ve only come in for two cleanings and a checkup after I chipped a tooth in a car accident, but Lisa at the front desk always greets me warmly and personally, and Dr. Last remembers what’s going on with me. I’m one of those people who hates getting dental work done, even just cleaning, but the whole staff goes to great lengths to make sure that I’m comfortable. Appointments are very quick, there’s never much waiting, but I also feel like I’m thoroughly being taken care of. I originally chose Dr. Last because his office is close to my apartment, but even if I move, I’m going to stick with him.

Dr. Last has been my dentist for about 12 years, and I can’t say enough good things. I recommend him whenever anyone’s looking for a dentist. Everyone at the office seems to work together well, the appointments have always been on time, cleanings are thorough. I’ve had a number of dental mishaps over the years, from a broken tooth, old fillings that have fallen out, and an ongoing «problem area» that Dr. Last has been so helpful about.
From the start, what I appreciate is that Dr. Last is fairly conservative in terms of treatment — he’s not out to scare you half to death that you need some expensive procedure. I trust and value Dr. Last’s experience, perspective and work.
Yesterday, I had a cleaning appointment, which was my first with Naomi, and it was great. She was patient, careful and gentle. Everyone in this office is wonderful, and I always appreciate Lisa’s dilligence and professionalism in managing the front office. Thanks, everyone!

I have been ignoring a serious problem in my molar for a few years and decided I should just suck it up and endure the pain that’s ahead of me. So I called Dr. Last’s office, was greeted by a super pleasant woman, and came by the office a few days later…
I get to the office in a brownstone and there’s really no wait time, thank you Dr. Last’s office for respecting the sanctity of appointments. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve shown up at 9AM for a 9:30 appointment, only to be seen at 12PM.
I don’t have enough good things to say about my experience here despite the awful painful circumstances I was here for. Every single person there was a pleasure to be around.
So Dr. Last looks at my X-​ray and very carefully details the process I’ll be going through the next year, what my options are, what it’ll cost, what insurance will cover, what it won’t cover, what payment plans are out there, how I’d prepare for my procedure, how I’d take care of my tooth, who I should talk to about things he wasn’t sure about. You name it, he went over it. All in all, I felt like I was in good hands with Dr. Last but reality strikes and I’m left with the tragic realization that I can’t afford him.
It’s hard to find a dentist you trust and feel real good vibes from but Dr. Last fits the bill and bonus points, he’s within walking distance. Shall be visiting Dr. Last as my regular dentist after my procedure and I think it’ll be a super happy awesome arrangement for me.

I am absolutely terrified of going to the dentist. Terrified.
That being said, every time I’ve visited Dr. Last, he has made it a positive and pleasant experience. He is extremely professional, and answers every single question I may have about a procedure. He’s also great at calming someone like myself down.
If you want someone who will treat you right, and do fantastic dental work, go to Dr. Last.

Dr. Last made me a NTI mouthguard and for some reason it broke (I can’t help that I have masseters of steel). I was happy to find out that he was willing to make me another one, free of charge. He stands by his work and that’s not very common these days. He also gets 5 stars because he takes his time with you and explains everything.

My NYC dental experiences have been from the sublime to the ridiculous. File Dr. Last under «sublime»…
I’ll enumerate what makes him and his office great:
1) Everybody is friendly and pleasant, and not hurried
2) Dr. Last is conservative (by his own admission) and doesn’t seem to have an agenda to finance a new boat or child’s college education via work done on my mouth. He explained everything to me, and didn’t seem overly anxious to make problems where there aren’t any, even though he identified some areas to watch in the coming years.
3) New technology and advancements — They have a nifty X-​ray system that creates instant digital images instead of actual films, and supposedly this results in 70% less radiation exposure than traditional X-​rays. AND… when he asked me about novocaine for my filling, I complained about not liking a numb tongue, and he said that he uses a new kind of novocaine where he doesn’t have to numb the tongue, I declined, but stlll… sweet!
4) Easy location, fairly close to the train.
5) They take insurance.
Today, I went in for a filling — I was late (train issues), and they didn’t give me a hard time, and I came in, they were ready for me, and they had my filling wrapped up in just about 15 minutes… painless, easy, good bite, no numb mouth.

I’ve had some pretty sketchy dental experiences elsewhere in NYC which put me off dentists for a couple of years, so I wasn’t looking forward to my visit — but I recently moved back to Brooklyn, received a letter from their office welcoming me to the neighborhood, and visited Dr. Last based on online recommendations.
It’s a small, tidy office in a brownstone. The receptionist, the hygienist, and Dr. Last were all extremely friendly and had a great sense of humor. They also took the time to explain everything I asked about, and Dr. Last even had a conversation with me which resulted in restaurant recommendations. The cleaning was both quick and thorough, with very little discomfort, and I left feeling lucky to have found this office. I’m happy to recommend them and I’ll be going back.

Came here on a whim as I received a card in the mail from the doctor’s office and had a wonderful experience. The dental office is so quaint and in a great brownstone that really gives me a great comfy feeling. The dental hygienist was very thorough; gosh was that uncomfortable, but I can’t even hate because it had been over 3 years since I’d been to the dentist so it was quite overdue.
Overall, great experience and think I’ll keep him as my regular dentist.
